M62 westbound j32 accident [Merged]

ajt:
That impact isn’t a trucker driving too close. Thats a impact between something practically stationary and something moving at full speed.

Wonder if the mini bus slowed down and was going to peel off down the slip road?

If this had have been a stationary traffic situation other vehicles would have been involved. Something caused the mini bus to grind to a halt and the driver of the Farmfoods not to notice it

The answer is probably contained in the position and angle of the truck where it’s stopped. It seems to have been running in lane 2 before the accident.

conors` explanation is entirely plausible :bulb:

Stanley Knife:
The Farmfoods lorry is upright and looks as though he has been traveling in lane 2. The rear of the trailer is in lane 2 but is angled so the unit is in lane 1 with damage to the front. In front of it is a trailer with the towbar in the hard shoulder area and the rear in lane 1. It does look as though the hgv has hit the trailer, which is the kind towed by such minibuses when carrying luggage.

The minibus is in the exit slip laying on its offside. There are skid marks from the minibus showing it left the motorway and down the embankment. There is extensive damage to the OSR. It looks likely that the trailer belongs to the minibus. It isn’t obvious if there is a car involved.

The trailer seems to be part of the screening nothing to do with the minibus going by the pics taken at ground level soon after the accident as opposed to the overhead news pics.

Awful accident. RIP to the victim (s)…

Very glad the amateur ‘accident investigators’ on here are drivers and not real investigators… :unamused:

How about waiting until someone who knows the facts of the incident reports on it. As has been pointed out many times on here the driver of the truck is usually arrested on suspicion, that’s suspicion of causing the accident.
att, you are probably having a laugh at all the posters slagging you off, so I won’t let you down. You are everything that is bad about this forum, stupid moronic replies that reinforce the stereotype of the knuckle dragging trucker. Please, take your head for a ■■■■.

But the ‘drivers’ had better hope that any real ‘investigators’ would take the attitude of innocent until proven guilty by deduction of all possibilities if ever they’re unlucky enough to find themselves in a similar type of situation.

Please take this as constructive criticism i find it distasteful if you where there or nearby to take pictures of the scene.

i’m with your line of thinking

Likely scenario is the minibus missed his/her junction and slammed on the anchors, the lorry driver didn’t/couldn’t react fast enough and went into the back of the minibus, pushing it down the bank (which would also go along with the minibus attempting to exit the motorway)

FFS guys, stop speculating the only thing anyone outside of the incident knows it thats there has been a collision between an artic and a minibus, one person has been arrested on suspicion several people have been injured and one person has lost their life, lets leave it at that until more information has been released shall we. And for all those still banging on about that trailer its a mobile screen used in incidents of this kind.

Max Clifford was NOT the driver of the truck.

The minibus did NOT have a trailer - it’s a portable anti-rubberneckin screen.

Was there just after and could not believe the rubberneckers.
same on here all the pics and comments an how it happened.
If the families of those involved including said lorry driver read this ,then they would be appalled at the comments/pics taken.
For christ sake leave the blame to those who investigate THE FACTS .
To many time we have comments on here BEFORE the professionals have done their job.
never for one who posts rip etc for deaths of people who die on the road that i do not know but i do have some respect for those who die.
please think before you comment
IT MIGHT BE YOUR FAMILY WHO READ THE NEXT ACCIDENT POST. :frowning:

Conor:
They’ve come from South Emsall and were going to Liverpool. Whats the betting that the minibus driver was in L1 which is actually the sliproad for Ponty, realise they were in the wrong lane, slowed down to a crawl then pulled into L2 thinking that maybe the truck was further away than it actually was?

As a regular user of the area, I would agree.

It’s amazing how many people don’t read that section of road properly, and cut across back onto the westbound carriageway.

Another place where that is an accident waiting to happen, is the section further along at J28 eastbound, where they have now decided that lane 1 is for going down the M621 into Leeds. The amount of vehicles of all types that cut over at the last minute when they realise they are in the wrong lane, and want to continue east, is frightening.

My thoughts are with the bereaved at this time.

Ken.

That’s just free speech though you have to take the idiotic and moronic with everything else. The photos of this are publicly available in newspapers so comment on them can’t be avoided. It seems fair to say from the photos it looks like the lorry has struck the minibus at a significant speed differential and it seems fair to speculate this may be related to the proximity of the junction or a breakdown and if it was queuing traffic you’d maybe expect other vehicles in front to be involved.

It’s ok leaving things to professionals but most people on here disagreed when they tried to hold a fireworks party organiser responsible for a motorway pile up.
