Lunatic on M6

switchlogic:
This bloody forum is getting beyond a joke. You can post anything you like, and all the morons will come out to play and jump down your throat no matter how dangerous the activity you were pointing out in the first place. Fast thinking its time I had another break from this stupid place and its idiots that defend everything, unless you took a pic when driving then they think hanging is too good. Give me [zb] strength, only here would taking picture while driving be the most reckless act a driver can do

Well said.

say’s a lot for carrying a roll of duct tape, should at least hold it till you can get somewhere safe :unamused:

is that what you use mirrors for? I will try mine tomorrow

Luke, I didn’t expect that from you, Mate. I was saying that it didn’t make him a lunatic necessarily, apparently that makes me a moron…

But taking pics makes the original poster a lunatic. Which must mean I’m a reckless maniac videoing stuff…

The Sarge:
It CAN be done though - not ideal, but it is possible. That’s my point.
Taking pictures on your mobile on the M6 IS lunatic behaviour though…

O’Leary’s transport again?

Had similar thing happen to me. Driving left ■■■■■■ on M5 on way Yeovil Westland Helicopters. skip wagon swiped me and ripped my NS (RH) mirrors off :imp:
Got to yeovil Iveco dealers they replaced mirrors for me…
Was scary driving tho with no mirrors

Johnny Foreigner doesn’t use his mirrors anyway, so does he REALLY need them ■■

After 8 beers and a few joints I never really use my mirrors anyway ?

LUNATIC … he is just trying to do his job you on the other hand are sat on the limiter over taking and taking pictures I know which I would rather drive beside

Aww, dont leave. I love this forum, its as good as any comedy show, cheers me up no end when i get home in the mornings.
What would i do if all that was left was sensible people posting honest helpful replies?
Bring back ady1 and browncow. And how i would miss fatblobnotslim :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:  :imp: :smiling_imp: :astonished: :open_mouth:

So please, keep posting people.

I take it you did something about this lunatic behaviour like ring the police and report it and tell them you had photographic evidence. Or would I be right in thinking you just put it on here for trial by trucknet?

What and make a phone call while driving? Couldn’t do that, its an act of lunacy.

Own Account Driver:
Was only saying on another thread about daily checks that they’re a waste of time and drivers never find serious faults anyway.

Think I rest my case :grimacing: :grimacing:

Might have happened on the motorway but I doubt it and even if it did I think on balance he should sit on the hard shoulder and wait for a fitter really.

So you think a “fitter” is going to climb up a pair of bloody step ladders on the offside of some bloody Actros on the M6 hard shoulder to fit a bloody mirror arm and head?

With all the other bloody idiots flying past at 56 not 2 feet away? I should bloody coco!!
Maybe he was using a bit of initiative and trying to get the thing to the nearest Merc agent where it could be repaired in a safe place.
Most “drivers” ring up with say a trailer blow out and first question you ask is what tyre size you got.Usual reply “dont know cant get out and look Im on the motorway and its dangerous”
Aye its dangerous for the poor bugger who has to go and fix the bloody thing too.

So lets estimate what happened here  some of us have been in that position, i was, whilst in Germany, by a bloody foreigner, anyway, had the good fortune to be not far from a B&Q, well their equivalent ( kaufland ) so me being a proper driver, made up a new one from a towel rail, it was plastic, so easy to screw into plastic, and a piece of wood with the mirror taped to that, it worked a treat,. in fact it stayed on for the next trip as well…just shows how really clever us English are, industrial revolution, no wonder we conquered them all.

Own Account Driver:

The Sarge:
And how, exactly, do you expect a fitter to replace his offside mirrors on the hardshoulder? :open_mouth:

I would get him to follow me in the van to the next junction and safe parking place and I’d do the mirrors for both of us and use the lightbar if need be.

If I had to on the h/s I’d get the unit angled in as much as possible it’s not a long job with a cordless impact wrench. I it was a tight h/s I’d do it from inside through the window.

You ever changed a bloody stupid Actros mirror arm? remove door card… with window motor, window, wiring etcetcetc.Soddin stupid German nightmare!

Since when did a broken or missing mirror become a “Breakdown Situation”? What next, call Green Flag out for a blown brake light bulb? Or maybe you would like the motorway patrol to close off one lane while you retrieve your phone from the footwell. :smiling_imp:

i’m with you.

It says something when you slate taking a pic while driving but defend driving on the motorway without mirrors. My god!

Calm down, George. In my day you were lucky to get mirrors at all and there were certainly no mobile phones!

Anyone who thinks it would be safe to drive a left ■■■■■■ with no offside mirror needs to be sectioned.
