mickyblue:
Two people so far would let a drink driver go there merry way. If it got into the news that a off duty PC was behind a drink driver and did nothing about it, both of you would change your tune and start slagging people off.
But the point is that you will still consider yourself to be an off duty PC when you are driving a truck.
How do you know what I would or would not do/say just because something got into the News? Have they started installing mind-reading chips in PCSOs (sorry, Police Officers) these days? Or do you assume that everyone else reacts to such things in the same way?

LMFAO what makes you think that? I will quote it again for your lovely eyes my sweetness
but i feel better in myself and less worked up knowing that i can be normal and not worry about what’s going on around me
I will quote it again just in case you didn’t see it

I’ve been told by my lovely wife that i am so relaxed now and not as worked up. I can now live a normal life and crack on with it.

Driving along the motorway and this vehicle nearly hit the side of my motor whilst she was overtaking. When she got clear of my vehicle she then moved in nearly hitting the front of my vehicle. Her vehicle was all over the place and she was harsh breaking for no reason. I over took her as i felt it was better to be in front then behind her. Short while later she over takes and the same thing happened, but this time it was closer. I hen called the local force and they advised me to keep behind the vehicle and update them in what direction she was heading. She was then pulled over. It turns out she was tired and was suffering from lack of sleep.
Above is what happened.
Now nit pick from that and get back to me harry, cheers

How on earth could it be better to be in front of somebody driving like that, rather than behind them? Defensive driving screams that it would be better to be behind them than in front of them, and better still to stop for a minute or two and let them get a mile away from you.
You’ll need to understand things like this if you ever drive for a living.

Ahh but Harry, if you’re behind them when the close the motorway, you’re ■■■■■■, sod that, get past and get gone, but make damned sure they’re not passing you again

So basically you harassed a citizen who was legally going about her business and not breaking any law. The fact that you consider this to be the behaviour of a sane and rational person shows how brainwashed you still are. You would probably be better looking for a job as a security guard along with all of the other failed coppers.
Right, i think we have our wires crossed here. I have stated that i am glad to be able to live a normal life and get on with it. Driving a truck and following people thinking i am a copper is something i will not do!. I AM NO LONGER A COPPER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, hope you got that bit
But for some reason you think i will end up doing that…again don’t know me or seen me face to face and your judging
Waynedl, you get what i mean then
she is harsh breaking so why would i want to sit behind that if she causes a crash?

Oh harry, loving the personal attack there fella, do me a favor just sit back and have another drink and don’t be a plonker!
Right, how do find out if she was drunk? - you pull her over.
Is that normal driving on a busy motorway? - No it is dangerous
Lack of sleep is just as bad as drink drive so i think it was worth it

it was her manner of driving
At the end of the day i am out of that job now and don’t give a hoot with what goes on around me now. It’s nice to feel normal.
Sorry to hear this Mickey. Regulation 13 is held over the heads of all Probationers and puts even more pressure on you to succeed.
There were a few people on my course who dropped out because of the pressure and they were all decent guys.
The on duty/off duty debate could go on forever but we were told you are off duty but you are never not a police officer, meaning that you have a duty protect life, etc even when not on duty. It takes a lot of courage to admit that the job is not for you. I’ve had incredible highs and unbelievable lows in the job but I can’t see myself doing anything else.
It’s hard to get a start as a Police officer and even harder to make it through your 2 year probation. Exams, evaluations, case loads, etc are all constantly on your mind and don’t even get me started about the paperwork side of things… It’s horrific.
I honestly hope that you get a driving job and settle into it. My wife worries about me when I’m at work, especially if she doesn’t hear from me for a while. People think that all you do is pick on easy targets, drive about in cars but don’t know about the other jobs We do - dealing with the death of a 2 day old baby was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to cope with.
My wife worries about me when I’m at work, especially if she doesn’t hear from me for a while
My wife was forever stressing and worrying about me. I always said to myself that i will never tell her what i got up to when i got home from work, which was normally 2-3 hours late of a night shift.
The 2 day old death of a baby is one job i wouldn’t want to deal with, dealing with a dead body that’s been in once place over a period of 2 weeks with the heating left on in a room is bad enough.
but we were told you are off duty but you are never not a police officer, meaning that you have a duty protect life, etc even when not on duty.
Some people won’t understand that at all
All i can say is all the best and enjoy the job whilst it is the way it is. I can see it changing again with further cuts and more work load passed onto response who have enough to deal with anyway.
Mickyblue no i hadn’t had a drink when i posted that reply but i have now because it’s Saturday night and i got a taxi so i was strictly legal. I have read the posts since and you can surely see the lads concern about you and your off duty antics plus their reluctance to point you in the right direction. The security services as was suggested, or the prison services have some some top of the range vehicles you would be well qualified to drive, you could even start as a warder until a vacancy came along it certainly did Mr Mckay or Mr Barraclough no harm.
Anyway to end my dialogue i repeat " once a copper always a copper".
D’ya not?:
Well Mickey I can only assume after 5 + years as a pcso, you get automatic right to apply to be a uniformed officer.
If you had to apply from scratch I couldn’t see you passing the interview, and I say that from reading this thread, amongst others.
You sound most unlike any copper I know.
You followed someone to London (Off duty) because you thought they’d had a drink? …Just sounds nonsense to me!
Why don’t you think i don’t sound like most coppers?
Next time i will let a suspected drink driver go on there merry way, and lets not hope they kill someone on their way. Lucky for me i was heading to South London to visit family so going North London way meant nothing.
Doing the PCSO role don’t mean you get into the Police straight away. I did apply from scratch and passed the interview. I also waited 2 1/2 years to get in. I love it how your judgeing me without seeing me, or knowing me…is this all based on what you see on the INTERNET?

They all do that, they are never off-duty. It’s instilled into them at Hendon training school.
Only the Met go to Hendon. The rest of us (sorry, them ) go to regional training centres around the country. But TBH, any off-duty bobby who follows suspected drink-drivers needs to get a life PDQ.

At the end of the day that’s your opinion and to be frank i don’t give a hoot
Because if it doesn’t sound right…it usually isn’t!
And a lot of this just doesn’t sound right.
So if your’e working your “notice”, or you are now “out” of the service, it’s probably the best outcome.
Its been noted before, quite a lot of people on this forum have some sort of inner problem with anyone in any position of authority. Odd. Bring back national service.
Good luck in your search - it is commendable that you are are open and honest in posting your reasons for leaving on a public forum . Have you tried Bretts Transport in Guyhirn.?
With regard to the various other comments no one should have to tolerate being spat at . If I pay my taxes and make an effort to ensure that my driving is independently assessed regularly ( I do the DIA advanced driving test which is valid for three years ) I have no sympathy for those who complain about bring caught . Tired drivers are just as dangerous as drink drivers .
