I will admit, i didn’t make the standard required of a copper, but i did meet the standard as a PCSO, which i regret leaving the role. I know the job had it perks but to be honest, it is right thing to move on. I’ve been spat at, kicked and punched in the time as a copper and it’s sort of making my wife ill thinking i will come home in a body bag - Yes the job is dangerous and it’s not nice knowing that the next person you speak to might want to attempt to do something with you!. That’s not healthy at all. I don’t give a [zb] what people will think of me but i do know i am a hard worker and think of others around me, hence why i did the job.
Now i am looking for a job and i have 4 weeks till my next wage comes in. I’ve already spent most of the night searching the net and sending emails of about jobs has i hate being out of work.
Harry Monk, do you have that link as stated by another poster so i can have a look etc, cheers. Oh i also didn’t get the sack i handed in my notice before i had a case conference ( Reg 13 )
Mick
Respect for giving it a go Micky.
I won’t ■■■■■■■■, I KNOW I would never have been capable of that job, I’ve seen coppers when out on a Saturday night getting crap off the idiots and drunks.
Getting abuse, spat at, thrown up on, threatened and generally just getting the sort of crap that I’d last 10 seconds doing.
I was a Bus driver back in 2000 and jumped between busses, coaches and taxis until 2007 when I decided, in general, the public are a bunch of dicks and I didn’t want to deal with them anymore.
I think, if you could hack it as a bobby a few more years and get transferred out onto traffic or armed response or some other speciality, the job would be ace, but those couple of years would be HARD IMHO.
Have you tried your local police for the recovery / vehicle movement position? I applied a few years back (5 or so) and never heard anything back, but you might be the ideal candidate.
