Mickyblue no i hadn’t had a drink when i posted that reply but i have now because it’s Saturday night and i got a taxi so i was strictly legal. I have read the posts since and you can surely see the lads concern about you and your off duty antics plus their reluctance to point you in the right direction. The security services as was suggested, or the prison services have some some top of the range vehicles you would be well qualified to drive, you could even start as a warder until a vacancy came along it certainly did Mr Mckay or Mr Barraclough no harm.
Anyway to end my dialogue i repeat " once a copper always a copper".
Fair enough, the saying once a copper always a copper blah blah is always said. to be honest i want to stay away from uniform work. I have just done 10 years of it.
Anyway, thank you for your opinion

Well Mickey I can only assume after 5 + years as a pcso, you get automatic right to apply to be a uniformed officer.
If you had to apply from scratch I couldn’t see you passing the interview, and I say that from reading this thread, amongst others.
You sound most unlike any copper I know.
You followed someone to London (Off duty) because you thought they’d had a drink? …Just sounds nonsense to me!
Why don’t you think i don’t sound like most coppers?
Next time i will let a suspected drink driver go on there merry way, and lets not hope they kill someone on their way. Lucky for me i was heading to South London to visit family so going North London way meant nothing.
Doing the PCSO role don’t mean you get into the Police straight away. I did apply from scratch and passed the interview. I also waited 2 1/2 years to get in. I love it how your judgeing me without seeing me, or knowing me…is this all based on what you see on the INTERNET?

They all do that, they are never off-duty. It’s instilled into them at Hendon training school.
Only the Met go to Hendon. The rest of us (sorry, them
) go to regional training centres around the country. But TBH, any off-duty bobby who follows suspected drink-drivers needs to get a life PDQ.
Two people so far would let a drink driver go there merry way. If it got into the news that a off duty PC was behind a drink driver and did nothing about it, both of you would change your tune and start slagging people off. At the end of the day that’s your opinion and to be frank i don’t give a hoot

Because if it doesn’t sound right…it usually isn’t!
And a lot of this just doesn’t sound right.
So if your’e working your “notice”, or you are now “out” of the service, it’s probably the best outcome.
Don’t have to work my notice. I have been given 28 days pay which gives me 4 weeks to find a job.
I don’t think from the sounds of it you should be a lorry driver. To me it looks like you have a problem which needs seeing to. I suggest going to a doctor who will help you with it and give you advice.
Sorry but i maybe wrong but troll springs to mind. They normally come out of the wood work and change, or hijack a topic.
Last reply from me as i am bored.

Good luck in your search - it is commendable that you are are open and honest in posting your reasons for leaving on a public forum . Have you tried Bretts Transport in Guyhirn.?
With regard to the various other comments no one should have to tolerate being spat at . If I pay my taxes and make an effort to ensure that my driving is independently assessed regularly ( I do the DIA advanced driving test which is valid for three years ) I have no sympathy for those who complain about bring caught . Tired drivers are just as dangerous as drink drivers .
Good luck in your search
Thank you.
I will give Bretts a phone call and see if they have anything.
With the spitting i would rather be punched then spat at

True.
My brother in law nicked someone at a Rod Stewart gig a few years ago for being drunk and disorderly.

Really??..you’re going to go down the personal insult route?
Tolerance is a prerequisite for a police officer…it appears it’s not one of your strong points, Another reason why I remain unconvinced.
mickyblue:
To be blunt with ya, i don’t need to prove anything, simples.
Oh yes you do! Any probationer facing a Reg 13 dismissal at 6 months’ service raises some significant questions - all the more if he has done a year or two as a PCSO so should have had at least half an idea what The Job entailed. Those first six months will have included basic training and a period on the streets with a tutor before being let out on his own. If he’s facing a Reg 13 at six months, serious questions must have already been asked pretty much from the outset. First question is whether he has a realistic grasp of his own capabilities and limitations, or is he some kind of dreamer?
In the days before PCSOs, it was common to see wannabe bobbies turned down at interview (or even before) and advised to try the Specials (aka Hobby Bobbies) for a while, to see how they fitted in. As a result, the Special Constabulary became filled with two distinct sets of people - those who had a genuine desire to serve their communities and those who were simply too ■■■■ thick and/or lacking in communication skills to cut it in the Regulars. The introduction of PCSOs appears to have introduced another avenue for such “failed” applicants to find a way in to employment as a copper.
So, as a wanabee truck driving employee you need to be thinking in advance how you are going to convince a prospective employer that the reason you resigned after only 6 months was not that you weren’t up to it, but rather that you did not want to be a copper in the first place (and if not, why did you join up anyway - you had a few years as a PCSO to see what The Job was like). These questions will be asked, and you need to be able to answer them convincingly.
Best of luck with your job-hunting
I think that some on here are being a bit harsh with Mickyblue. He tried the job and realised that it wasnt quite what he imagined.Any one thinking that they are going to serve and make a positive difference to the community gets that nonsense drummed out of them sharpish.MMTM

There is a world of difference between “realising the job isn’t quite what you imagined” and being threatened with a Reg 13 dismissal.

Joined as a PCSO on 20th November 2006 with no intentions of joining as a PC. Whilst doing the job as a PCSO i had seen what the officers had done and got a slight insight into what they got into, and what they did as a PC. I was influenced in joining the ranks of a police officer by police officers as they felt i would be a good copper. After thinking about it i applied to join the ranks of a PC in 2009. My application passed and was sent to Ryton on 15th December 2009 at 13:30hrs to do an assessment. I turned up and scored 59% and passed. I then waited till 5th March 2012 to start my training. I did 16 weeks training and 10 weeks on the streets with a tutor. I then had a meeting with the Sgt and a HR manager who advised me that i am not up to the standard of a police officer and was lacking in areas and that they were sorting out a date for a case conference to discuss my future. I had a long think and a chat with the wife and decided to leave the force as i felt i couldn’t do the job in the long run. So i resigned before i was dismissed under Reg 13.
I found the job difficult with my mild form of dyslexia simple as that.
Above is the basics and i am sick of repeating myself. Like i have stated before i do not have to prove myself to anyone on this forum. I haven’t got a clue to why you had to change the topic and hijack it for your own little gain.
The introduction of PCSOs appears to have introduced another avenue for such “failed” applicants to find a way in to employment as a copper
.
WRONG! pure example of someone who doesn’t know what there on about. Above is a classic example of information that had been seen in the Daily Mail newspaper
Please tell us more about Reg.13.The police can shoot Brazilian electricians ,they can drive like looneys, they can take on other work during their many days off. They get away with killing protesters and people carrying bits of furniture. How do you get kicked out of the Polis?
Reg 13 is for probationers only who can be dismissed within there 2 years service. Probationers are under different regulations then to a confirmed police officer who cannot be dismissed out of office as quick as a new PC. It’s the same as you with 3 months probation in a job but police officers have 2 years to prove themselves.
other bits i cannot answer as i wasn’t there
MICKEEE! Leave it - they’re not worth it!!!
It has nothing to do with any “little gain” for me (whatever that might mean) and everything to do with trying to get you to see the reality of the situation in which you now find yourself. I didn’t read about PCSOs etc in any newspaper - I was there, involved and “at the coal face” so to speak when they were introduced (I spent 25 years of my life as part of “the thin blue line”).

To be honest I’m confused why you went into it to start with rather then telling your life story on a public internet forum

but i like to answer questions that are put my way
Hi mate plenty of jobs around Peterborough just spend a day door knocking you’ll soon have a job…
As you know I play rugby with a few of your ex collegues… most from Thorpe wood… also know a few female Dibbles aswell, reading between the lines maybe you were not quite cut out to be a dibble…
))
Not a big deal, just move on, try and ignore the negative vibes… Good luck mate, our place is class 1 only…
I’d give up trying to answer any questions mate - some people are just “anti police” and nothing you say or do will alter that fact. When I joined, I got a lot of stick from some so-called “friends” but it wears off and you move on.
Reg 13 is a stick waved at all Probationers and it’s wielded by the powers that be as they see fit. As I said earlier, I have seen some decent colleagues fall foul of it and the impact it has on them and their families is huge.
For what it’s worth, it think it takes guts to post your failings on an open forum and you deserve credit for that. The job isn’t for everyone but at least you had the guts to give it ago!
Hopefully things will work out ok for you mate!
