One thing i did see a lot of in holland was say a 32tonne prime mover with a 45ft trailer behind
it. Thats an idea which is practicle and works well
like these?

That’s what the argument is all about.
According to switchlogic they are impossible to drive outside of Scandinavia.Whereas an artic with a 50 foot trailer on the back is ‘supposedly’ a better idea.
Come on Carryfast, don’t be so lazy. Where did I say they are impossible to drove outside Scandinavia exactly. You really must try harder sometimes.
You don’t actually ever read anything properly do you? Have you lost your spectacles. Would you like me to say it for the third time, in capitals maybe, will it enter your simple mind then?
IM NOT FOR OR AGAINST ANY OF THE OUTFITS PROPOSED BY ANYONE, I JUST ENJOY PICKING HOLES IN YOUR PAPER THIN ARGUEMENTS. IN FACT I COULDNT CARE LESS ABOUT LONGER TRAILERS AT ALL.
There, has that gone in? Third time lucky maybe
Well

Well that Scandanavian prime mover certainly isn’t a 32tonner, it would have to have 4 axles to run at that GVW, that DAF can only be 24ton GVW or even 22ton GVW because of the single tyred steer axle at the rear. But why let fact get in the way of a good fantasy
its Dutch.

Only ever saw them in passing never took a good look at them concentraing more on the road infront but you get the idea. Also dont forget if mt memory is correct they can go upto 60 tonne (i think) but there again i probs be wrong. Although do see a lot more of tri axle units over there now so it wouldnt susprise me

nicely put and tbh I take more notes of your posts then CF as you tend to talk from experiance rather then something you read off the internet or in a mag
There’s a whole lot of room around that outfit, plus they’re only allowed on certain roads.

Thats what I was thinking. Thats the only truck on a bay there with all the room in the world. How would this cope in a busy RDC in England where there is barely enough room to back a 45ft trailer on to a bay, let alone back in or manouver that. I’m sure it could have a place in transport in the UK but not in every day general haulage operations.
kindle530:
its Dutch.
Not sure if this was directed at me, but just in case it was, yes I knew it was a Dutch outfit but used the term ‘Scandinavian’ as that was what was being used in the previous post’s to describe this type of drawbar rig by fellow poster’s. I also know that in Holland that configuration of vehicle can run at a lot higher GVW than OVER HERE and as I pointed out the prime mover would be limited to at least 10tons less because of the the single wheeled steer axle on the rear especially if used as Mr Carryfast keeps insisting will be perfectly feasible OVER HERE

Thats an idea which is practicle and works wellSo a small country that has busy road conditions and a road system and operating conditions which aren’t much different to Britain doesn’t make some hysterical bs issue about an 8 wheeler rigid pulling a 45 ft drawbar trailer
.Maybe that’s because they’re clever enough to know that even that, let alone a 6 wheeler rigid,is a better option than artic outfits with 50 foot + semi trailers.
Oh so it’s an 8 wheeler rigid your into now? You do realise that most 8 wheelers have the turning circle of a supertanker don’t you?
As for the hysterical bs your the king of that. Your the most hysterical person on this forum.
Oh and let me guess, you’ve been to holland ‘plenty of times’
Edit: ferries actually have amazing turning circles I realised after posting it!

Used to drive volvo FL 8 wheeler brick n block wagon and that was hell to turn let alone with a 50ft trailer on the back noooooo thank you. However I’m sure CF will come up with a newspaper clipping or something from his vast knowledge to prove me wrong and it ws all a bad dream
Carryfast:
How the zb can you possibly pick any ‘holes’ in ‘my’ ideas:
Quite easily old bean, your a complete crackpot.
Tell me something, why are you so interested and devoting so much time posting about such an issue when it doesn’t affect you in any way? I’m still working in the industry but couldn’t care less about developments like this to be honest. If longer trailers in whatever form come along and I have to drive them then I’ll deal with that then. You just post the same old boring rubbish time and time and time again like a stuck Des O’Connor record. Don’t you get bored yourself? Isn’t there anything more constructive you could do with retirement other than derailing tread after thread to the detriment of the forum? There’s a whole exciting world out there to enjoy, talking about longer trucks and 6x4’s on a forum seems a bit of a waste of your life to be honest.
No probs Kindle530, these threads that carryfast gets his crazy teeth into just seem to go nowhere and just recently switchlogic seems to have become his nemesis (Don’t know if that is the right phrase or not but heyho it sounds right).
If you look on the Old Time Trucks forum I’m sure you’ll find some long drawn out threads by ‘Crazyfart’ that go on for page’s & page’s & page’s & page’s & page’s & page’s & page’s I’m sure you get the drift
As far as I’m concerned he is an ex night trunk driver who never fulfilled his ambition of driving into Europe because every employer wanted someone with experience not someone who would show them how the job should be done, ‘crazyheads’ way, Anyway can see this one going on for years unless one of them give’s up
