Or even more likely maybe even pass the truckstop and the sober driver gives way and nothing happens You missed your chance to use the bus load of schoolkids analogy there, must try harder next time.
what if the driver of the school bus is ■■■■■■■■■■ wipes out a load of sleeping lorry drivers

ah ok mate you spend you time worryng about what if’s…me i will crack on living my life
Personally I don’t spend anytime worrying about what if. )
I must say hypocrisy is alive on trucknet
moaning about a couple of truckers having a beer or two on a night out, don’t see the problem myself as long as you dont over do it.
wait till they open the wetherspoons at beaconsfield services whats to stop them from sinking a few on a 45 minute break or the sales rep nipping in and having a few whiskeys during his " buisness meeting"
Why are people so scared about a zero level for truck drivers? If you are all so good at judging your intake so that you’re sober when you driver out the next morning…what have you got to worry about?
And as a small point…nowhere did i accuse those drivers of driving drunk the next day…so well done to all those that got on their high horse for nothing.
@The Sarge I can see you come on be a man and apologise.
Doesn’t have to be zero to be safe and legal to drive - why can’t you accept that simple fact?

Apologise for what? For disagreeing with someone who wants to force me into something I disagree with? Yeah, right…
Ah, I see. Think you are confusing me with triple tango
Think about the position of LFC, it is away from the general public, apart from a small sign on the road, Joe Public would have no idea where it was, and are not interested, it keeps the anti truck nimbies happy that 200 trucks a night are not in a residential area or using an Industrial estate as a toilet.
Whatever the owners are doing, they must be doing something right with 200 a night in there, the showers have enough room, the only opinion i have is the table is too far away from the chairs, and they could update the place and spend some money on new flooring, the place is a time warp, but the owners and staff are the kindest people you could ever meet.
The European drivers know you get a bottomless jug of wine with the meal in Europe, or beer if you want it, years ago you would take up to 2 hours or more to digest a 6 course meal, then have a sleep.
They serve beer at Mc`Donalds in Europe.

Oh F me sorry mate lmao thats whst hspoens when I have a drink get confused
I had to look back through the thread to work it out
Time for a couple of pints and then take a walk down the middle of the road - that’s legal

Do I have to point out the bleeding obvious? , if it’s zero tolerance the criteria would not be if you are sober or not, it would be any level of alchohol, would be …errrrr zero tolerant…
ffs
The only guy on his high horse appears to be the one who can’t mind his own affairs in a truckstop for worrying about what other drivers are drinking, so much so that he wants it banned

Yeh, I reckon they should ban McDonalds because of all the fat ■■■■■■■■ who drive trucks could have a heart attack and wipe out a bus load of schoolkids, in fact ban school buses just think what could happen if one pulled out in front of you, especially if the bus driver had a pint the night before … carnage.

I never said it wasn’t legal…would have to disagree with you on the safe part…any level of alcohol in your system can affect your ability to operate “normally”.
I have an extensive background in the rail industry where the level is virtually zero, and it is that level for a reason. And that reason is what i have stated above…any amount of alcohol can impair your ability.
Bullcrap.

Not on my high horse…just commented that i was surprised at the amount of alcohol being consumed by a workforce who like to be considered professional bearing in mind the majority of them could be behind the wheel in as little as 7 or 8 hours…
I accept that it is my choice not to drink while at work, just as i accept it others choice to do so…
One final thing to bear mind…drunk in charge of a vehicle…when you have had your 3 or 4 cans of Stella, the minute you put that key in the door you are liable to be breath tested…over the limit and you could well face a drunk in charge prosecution…
But…that’s your choice…
The reason i mentioned a zero limit was the very reason you highlight in your reply…it makes very easy for people to understand…no guesswork, no if’s or but’s, quite simple to grasp…although i concede you would still get those who would drink and gamble on blowing zero the next morning so maybe it wouldn’t change that aspect of things…

■■■■■■■■. You are quoting a theory not a substantiated and proven fact. I had a sherry trifle for tea can I get in my truck and “operate normally” and apart from the fact that I am not qualified, can I now go and drive a train.
