LGV licence free off the tax payers?

eagerbeaver:
I feel the need to let off some steam and/or ask esteemed opinions.

I have just read on the newbie forum that a member is having their training and tests etc funded by the DWP.

Is this a wind-up or does anyone have any knowledge of this nonsense? If true,i wish someone could have told me to go on the dole and get them to pay for me to become a LGV driver.

My family and I would be £2500 ish better off.

When I was on JSA a few years ago, the DWP paid for my first digi card, but that’s only about £37 and the whole idea was to make it easier for me to get work. As for funding HGV lessons, it ought to be a loan rather than a gift, as with student tuition fees, and this pays off rather more quickly. They should make sure they find a reputable driving school, because there are too many that use clapped-out lorries and/or hire bad instructors who get tetchy or even abusive when a student doesn’t ‘get it’ as they think they should.

Totally agree

sidevalve after working since the age of 14 then 21yrs truck driving throughout europe n.africa got fed up at looking at scroungers and ponces so decided not to contribute to there upkeep .

Oh dear MuddaTrukka. You send me a childish PM(which I don’t lower myself by responding to),but it seems the tide is turning. People now,(and rightly IMO),believe you should pay the cost of training back when you have employment.

You wont have to though,so don’t worry. The strong always take care of the weak.

If the dwp said i could take the coarse on the condition that i pay it back when working i would have

You would have been better taking a literature COURSE. Thicko.

It’s all a con anyway. The conditions and pay is what stops people from becoming drivers. Improve pay and conditions and that will sort the shortage out. Instead big business wants the tax payer to fund them out of it.

To make it an even bigger kick in the teeth there’s an article on the BBC today stating that the government (us tax payers) are spending £11bn per year on in-work benefits for millions of low earners.

So we’re paying at both ends. Paying to get drivers into low paid jobs only to then subsidise their wages. Meanwhile, the rich get richer. A dance as old as time itself.

So you don’t contribute any tax payments to the Canadian Government then, or is it that you do in fact, but there are no unemployed people there ( or ‘scroungers and ponce’s’ as you call them) or there are but they are a much better class of ‘scrounger or ponce’ in your very much opinionated view.
Or maybe you will continue to ignore my posts being that I am a …lying cheating bastrd
So which is it?
I reckon if I had gone to live in another country I would think that I had forfeited the right to criticise the UK, let alone slag it off :unamused:

Have a look at your post on page 2 mate, and my response to it on the same page.

You are entitled to tell me to ■■■■ off, (and thanks for your estimate on the size of my ■■■■■■■■) but I still think you are opinionated bordering on bigoted, so as you say it’s a forum based on opinion, and that is mine!

You would have been better taking a literature COURSE. Thicko.

Would you feel a bit less bitter if i take a collection box to the guys training through the dwp to see if i can get your 2.5k back to you ?

Lol!! Ive had girlfriends less obsessed with me than you mate.

You are aware that hundreds of our colleagues are monitoring this forum?

You really are coming across as a bit creepy pal.

Tell someone who gives a ■■■■

You obviously. Just cant leave it fella can you?

Tell you what,…as you are not only incapable of securing employment yourself,or a license for yourself,or a grasp of literacy,or have any self respect,…im gonna let you swim away. I will spare our colleagues the boredom of this by ending my participation on this thread.

ive been replying to your comments dumbo
btw you failed miserably starting this thread thinking everyone would attack unemployed training projects
go cry to your colleagues about the 2.5k you spent on training and bum each other at the truckstop hotel

I can see a bit of both sides here, I agree in the main with what the OP is trying to say. I get in recruitment loads of people who ‘want’ jobs but despite no skills experience or qualifications wont do anything you offer them, then you get the others who will sweep floors etc. to earn a crust.

we get or use to a lot of can you not pay for this? - no is the main answer as I agree that if you want something bad enough then go out and earn and save for said course ( I have paid for my class 1, university etc. so why should someone get it for free irrespective of how much they cost taxpayers?). I have no issue with someone being given a helping hand onto the work ladder if they need it but too many people wont work and save for what they want to progress in a company or role. if you want to be a fork lift driver go work in a warehouse get some ££ and experience prove yourself and they may even offer to pay for it, or do the easy option go to the dole moan and groan and get it for ‘free’'.

but whilst people think its acceptable to give any long term unemployed person training etc. nothing will change and there are plenty of jobs out there if your willing to work.

My biggest concern with such a scheme, whether funds are paid back or not is an over-supply of skills in the sector…

Yet another Trucknet lecture on ‘literacy’ that is full of grammar errors itself…

Be careful he might not let you swim away
