I feel the need to let off some steam and/or ask esteemed opinions.
I have just read on the newbie forum that a member is having their training and tests etc funded by the DWP.
Is this a wind-up or does anyone have any knowledge of this nonsense? If true,i wish someone could have told me to go on the dole and get them to pay for me to become a LGV driver.
My family and I would be £2500 ish better off.

I think that’s a good thing, £2,500 not a lot really against what someone could be claiming by being on the dole, then of course he will be paying tax and NI so in a matter of time that £2,500 will be paid back.What cost if he was still claiming??
Maybe ive got things wrong. Ive done all sorts of [zb] jobs so that I can save up the money to do what I really wanted (drive artics).
I have a lot of pride in the fact that I haven’t scrounged off people to get my CE. I understand your point about the overall cost to the taxpayer.
However,why not start taking the dole away if you cant be arsed to clean toilets or flip burgers or whatever.Instead of just ’ giving ’ people a free ticket to £30k a year. What the hell is wrong with this country? Why does nobody have to put in any effort anymore?
good ol uk sit on your a.s and get rewarded never mind what they will pay in just stop paying there rent and giving em pocket money . they soon get of there a.s and get a job .i had to take any job way back to save for my own test so whats special about todays doleites half of uk driving jobs took up by eastern bloc drivers and now dragging muppets of the dole 2 take the rest of driving jobs only in uk f…k me what next 
Yep - it is correct.
I receive requests to quote via the DWP online system and quite a few are for the full Cat C including theory, initial CPC etc. I don’t do that stuff so just ignore them but someone somewhere will be quoting and someone will get the work.
In the same way I have people attending 5 day DCPC courses fully funded by the DWP - and they’ll be sitting next to drivers paying for their own. It actually makes for a difficult situation!!
You’ve read it to beaver… ticked me off as well when I saw that… from what I gather if you can guarantee a job at the end of it and he’s one of them long term unemployed then its quite possible he’s had the help financially, may even one of them between 18 and 25 who are getting everything thrown there way… 
Never know he might just be getting some sort of loan from them for re training…he’ll end up paying it back
Bloody sickens me as I’m on a sabbatical from work at the moment, I’ve requested the assistance from the DWP last year when I needed to keep my CPC up to date and got flipped, so I ended up paying it myself out of valuable savings

If you are out of work but want to work, isn’t it better if you are trained up to do a job rather than being given dole money?
Cant fathom it Swampster. Wont be too long now,when this job will become yet another casualty of scrounging,bone-idle pricks,and [zb]ing flip flops.
FLT drivers are a relatively recent example. Dole handed out counterbalance & reach to any one who wanted them a few years ago.
Add that to the thousands and thousands of flip flops,and you will do well to get £8 per hour now.
Don’t let it bother you beaver… My employment was ended a few years ago due to an injury… didn’t see anyone from the DWP offering me a hand out for anything… must have been in the wrong office… or wrong planet when they where offering that 
Due to them thinking there is a driver shortage & you have been out of work for more than 26 weeks you may get some /all/part help to train for a job
Although there are some conditions attached to this & you have to wait for it ti get sorted
It may be that they have been on sick for that long through no fault of there own also depends what part of the country you live in

god help if you’re white, english and you’ve paid into the SYSTEM for forty years plus! wait till you’re sick / need HELP then!

This isn’t a new thing. There were people getting it all paid for around 2000/2001 when I did my class1. The instructors used to draw straws over who would be training them that week. There was one guy who had failed his test several times. The instructors said that he was just incapable of driving a car let alone a truck, but hey when you don’t have to pay yourself…

But if no jobs then nowt you can do about that
If only do food vouchers how do you pay you bills & go look for work 
as if you dont prove you have looked for work they will reduce the amount you get ( £72 per week )
If you have been on the sick for that long or longer depends how bad you are etc then some help to get back into work makes a big difference
Since they are now closing / closed several places up here to move them south not all are able to move what happens to them they are also not creating jobs up here
■■■■■■■■ no jobs. Take their dole away and mark my words,toilets will start getting scrubbed.
Fruit will start getting picked. Envelopes will get sealed. Fast food will get cooked. Dog [zb] will be picked up. Drinks cans will be collected. Litter will get sorted. etc. etc. etc.

That’s crap. There’s plenty of jobs about if you’re prepared to get off your arse and look instead of just going on the internet and if you’re prepared to be flexible in what you do. My lad got laid off from the Haven holiday camp he was working at as site maintenance in March, heard about a place taking on people, went for an interview and started work the next day. Total time unemployed, 3 days including the weekend. Since he’s left school 4 years ago he’s had a total of 2 months off and as his son turned up 7 weeks premature that turned out to be timed quite well.
The total time I’ve spent unemployed since leaving school in 1987 other than for health reasons is maybe 1-2 months in 28 years.
exactly real disabled people sick people no probs with that not the generation we have spawned in uk tks to mr blair and his euro cronies oh doctor my back hurts im depressed bla bla . one question to todays so called unemployed look into what the brave men and women recieved if lucky to make it home to uk after ww1/ww2 then u realise how lucky you actually are in good ol uk the country they died for
I did my C and C+E with GTG training,who are part of the Arnold Clark group. With me on my class C training was a guy who was getting his license paid by the job centre. But he had to do unpaid work for arnold clark (transferring cars etc) to qualify.
On the other hand,when I did my PCV license there was a trainee passed at the same time as me who was getting his license through First same as me but the DWP was giving a £500 BONUS to all those who passed. This particular pass lasted a whole two weeks (thats how long it took for the £500 to be paid) before he disappeared never to be seen again

Any time I have been looking for a job Ive found one within 3 weeks at most. Theres plenty jobs out there if your willing to look for them.
The economy is a handy excuse for some people to say they are looking but there is nothing.
