Keedwell u turn liverpool

On a side note, I wonder if the lads who torched their car by trying to pull a truck out of the snow on the M62 recently were “carriageway clearance” trained?
[/quote]
They were as they were using the load cell. The car wasn’t involved in towing when it went up. It was an overheated heater matrix that caused it.

A heater matrix is full of water, how did it catch fire,

Don’t shoot the messenger, that’s the reason that was given, if I knew anything about cars, it wouldn’t cost me a fortune putting mine in the garage.

Back in the day, when the retail park was an industrial estate, I used to work out of there, and going under that bridge countless times a day. I cannot recall there being a restriction that low on that bridge? Anybody know different?
Either way, it is not well sign-posted. That does not exonerate driver. That is desperate driving. Especially when there is room to turn at lights or in Asda car park.

On a side note, while we’re talking about all this ‘‘Enhanced carriageway clearance’’ bull crap.
There was a mega queue on the opp side of the M6 coming back up on Bank hol Friday, lane 3 was blocked with a car wreck, and part of lane 2, I remember thinking at the time…why not just drag the bloody thing on to the hard shoulder and clear the queue. :bulb: :unamused:

robroy:
As I said mate, not one for knocking your lot, and I can appreciate your hands are evidently tied.
I just find all this type of crap a bit pathetic where rules and regulations actually PREVENT you from doing your job rather than aid it.
This sort of ■■■■■■■■ really does my swede in where unnecessary h&s crap overrides common sense,.and everyone has to walk on eggshells to cover their arses.
That truck in reality could have been pulled out in 5 mins resulting in a non event…I used to tow jump start my own trucks with an XJS Jag ffs, let alone a modern 4x4, in years gone by. :unamused:

If it’s any consolation, during the last two lots of snow, I’ve been up to my knees in snow drifts dragging heavies. Yes I am enhanced trained, and yes I used the load cell, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to do it. The load cell has been invaluable in moving vehicles that we couldn’t in the past. It’s the load cell that allows us to clear larger vehicles.

Whereabouts bud? The car may have dropped all its oil or ruptured it’s tank if it was as bad as you say. It’s easier leaving it in situ and cleaning the one lane once it’s recovered. If we drag it to the hard shoulder, we risk contaminating all lanes, forcing us to stop everything. If it isn’t leaking, it will get dragged, I usually drag unless leaking. Then again, if it’s an injury RTC, it’s a police job and they will leave it in place while the investigation takes place.

M6 s/b Cheshire/Staffs area it was.
Yeh, ok fair point, I never thought of that.

I’m six foot tall.

What’s this load cell you mention?

TiredAndEmotional:
What’s this load cell you mention?

As far as I know, a load cell is a device that measures force. I’m guessing they have one at the tow bar to make sure they don’t pull harder than the strap/chain/car can handle.

Correct, it measures force not weight, so although a wagon could weigh 44 ton, it won’t take 44 ton to move it, which is why our 3 ton rated tow straps can drag far bigger.

You look shorter on the telly :stuck_out_tongue:

That was the deep snow!

Surely one of these clowns is a member on here?

Which clowns?

Why do you all keep saying: Driver made a mistake `…NO he never, he deliberately drove over a grass verge…then got stuck…no one in their right mind would attempt that, they would go to the next safe turning point be it a traffic signal or a roundabout. If he had succeeded he would have damaged the verge & Carried the dirt and mud across the carriageway, i hope he get points and a fine…if only to stop other idiot drivers from doing the same.

I guess Mr.God driver you have never made a bad judgement call!

It was a pretty bad judgement call mate tbf… to put your drive axle on grass, which was obviously soft.
And before you ask me the same question…yes I have, but maybe not as stupid as that one…

Ok then I’ll change it for clarification …just for you.

I have never intentionally driven on to soft wet ground in order to turn my truck around.

Key word this time is ‘‘intentionally’’… :bulb:
You appear to be a bit touchy and defensive on this bud…wasn’t you was it?.
