Its coming tonight, the new generation Scania

Radar19:
Eww. Its all boxy… Still, everyone moaned about how ugly the T series was when that first launched.

What do you mean ‘was’? :grimacing:

ThrustMaster:
Why does a truck need a flat-bottomed steering wheel?? My car has one and they’re bloody awful things. :imp:

Have you seen the size of some (many…) drivers??

robroy:
If it does look like a bin lorry as Luke says (with his tongue in his cheek I reckon  ) or any other knock from the rest of you, I would not care, it’s a working vehicle and I aint a ‘‘look at me in my biiiiig truck’’ poser type of ■■■■ (as the odd one or two on this thread come across as btw no names etc etc. )

Thing is Robroy is that it’s a sort of live by the sword due by the sword thing. By that I mean Scania for decades has traded on being the first choice show truck, the truck that gets blinged up the most, the brand with the biggest number of fanboys, so when they release their new truck and it looks like that bland lump it’s a bit of an own goal for them and certainly after Scania fans repeatedly go on and on how amazing Scanias are and how whatever you’re driving can’t compare it is quite fun to take the ■■■■ out of them and their bin lorry lookalike!

 Are you telling me you are baiting these guys? Shame on you
They take it all ohh too serious with their V8 badges on every panel (in case you miss one) Fair enough I would not refuse one myself but I still think they sound like a Seddon Atkinson with a bust exhaust…Christ you’ve got me doing it now

Careful, it gets addictive! If all else fails just remind them that the most powerful lorry on the road has been a Volvo for years now or that Scania is VWs second choice truck company

not really a fan of Scania but you cant help but feel good when you hear a scanny V8 with the stacks up the rear of the cab or the side pipes, does sound good, drowns everything out when it comes down the road,be interesting to see if the new Scania is any better for looks

Originally had a 141 then a 142 followed by a Centurion then I saw the 4 series on the road, testing in Sweden and that was the end of my love affair with
Scania this latest edition well,I can’t see where Scania are going shame, for the money spent could have been sooooooo much better, more pleasing to the eye
still some will buy and some will drive.

The inside has improved over the last generation though.

Not in the services it doesn’t. More annoying than a fridge motor.

2 stood in Immingham Dock last night a V8 and a 450 Looks ok from the side but the front  like Luke said a bin lorry

Not quite but the first RHD ones are in the UK now

S450, R450 and an R500. Also looks like the 500 is now a 6 cylinder engine now.

Also a poor photo of an S series 6x2 tag axle highliner.

Once someone puts a sun visor and roof bar on them, they’ll probably look ok

Looking at the pics of them above there they look like a 2D drawing! So flat and so weirdly square

I think that’s more of a camera angle issue luke

No, they are very square …

I cant believe they don’t come with a visor as standard ?

that External Mirror on the front looks ridiculous! Looks like putting the tail on the donkey because they forgot and it was last minute rush.

The interior is probably the best thing.

For a development that took 10 years, somebody at Scania needs a kicking!

Speaking to a couple of truck transporter drivers… Next issue is moving them. The S series topliner measures in at 13.8. The standard low loader they use are 3ft from road to load bed.

And at the moment the topliner’s can only be carried backwards with the steer axle wheels on the beaver tail to bring them in low enough…

I don’t think it is, from almost every angle it looks as shapely as a breeze block

You mean 3.8 metres I take it? I dare say someone will be looking into how to deliver them. Either wheels off or like big dump trucks with little delivery only wheels.

The standard cab which looks like a Highline is 3.88 metres and the Topline now called Highline is 4.0 metres
