All your driving license proves is that you’ve met the minimum skill requirements. Nothing more. As with most jobs, you’ve now got to PROVE you exceed those requirements and are worth employing.
As for shunting, my first job saw me stuck in the yard shunting trailers for a week. I saw it as an opportunity to practice my reversing on full pay!Out of interest, did you pass in an artic or wag n drag?
I passed on a class 1 C+E DAF CF it had air suspension if that is what you mean. I get what you are saying which is why I am going to give the job another chance tomorrow. I actually explained to my boss this afternoon about the shunting and she said it was just to prove I could do reversing like you said. She said that I am a new pass so she can’t ask anyone about my history which is fair enough and she had to make sure I was safe and that. The good thing is that my lorry will have automatic gears it is a Volvo 57 reg which is OK because I know you have to start at the bottom and work your way up to a decent lorry. She said that I could be sick as long as I like but I will still be doing shunting when I come in so she probably guessed I wasn’t happy with them and even when I am on normal work they will ask me to do shunting sometimes whiuch she said I should look at as confidence that I can reverse OK. I do feel a lot happyer since I talked to her and I think that they are actually OK probably.
I don’t think the OP knows what a ‘wag n drag’ is? 
And suspect the real reason they are feeling better, is because it’s HOPEFULLY starting to dawn on them they’ve been a ■■■■!

Well my doctor gave me my medical and the people who did my rehabilitation got me on the courses. At the end of the day I don’t care what anyone thinks but I came on here to make sure I wasn’t being taken advantage of because I have seen people saying that on here before. a lorry is not a stacker and you couldn’t have had the accident I had in a lorry so no it doesn’t give me panic attacks like a forklift does and rather than sit home on the doll I got out and got a job. I cant post any more my sister wants the computer I will let the people who are interested know how I got on and the rest of you I don’t care about anyway.
