Is there any jobs out there worth doing?

IVE BEEN AN OWNER DRIVER FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS IN THAT TIME I HAVE TAKEN 2 FRANCHISES WHICH IVE HAD TO END BOTH AS THEY WERE NOT MAKING MONEY IS THERE ANYTHING AT THE MOMENT WORTH DOING ?

Well, I virtually just logged in to ask something similar (might be a bit different perspective).
Rather than starting new thread will put it here, it’s the same subject.

I’d really be curious what sort of work is the most profitable. Not what work makes the most money, but what work makes the most money relative to the investments and expenses required.
Let’s not talk about specialists jobs like heavy&oversize haulage or ADR1 tankers. What job is the most profitable?
Store distribution? Construction sites supply? Bulk tipper jobs? Container distribution? Curtainsider general cargo? Fridge/freezer? Flat (with crane)? National, EU, TIR?

but it’s the specialist jobs that an owner driver can make money at ! you can’t compete against the likes of Stobart, DHL, Nobby’s or Betz so that rules out most of the general stuff, containers are pretty well sewn up too - there’s been several posts on here about od’s subbing to container companies!!! quid a mile stuff !!
that leaves tippers, blocks and mixers and most of those on here have been remarking how quiet it is at the moment !!

With denisf on that one. It’s basic economics of supply and demand. If there’s lots of supply, ie general hauliers then the price will be driven down as the customer has a greater choice and competition is high. The less supply, ie firms doing radioactives, out of guage etc, then the higher the price. We are specialist - explosives- we don’t make fortunes as each sector has its problems, we can put butter and sometimes jam on our bread.

Become a taxi driver…just read an article that they are getting an increase to £3.50 a mile!!

I think those old vans you see parked on a lot of French Route Nationale make more money than anything. They work long hours and often have a queue of customers waiting a turn

I understand Morrisons shelf stackers are on £8/hr.
Convert the truck into a mobile hairdressers salon, change your name to Phillipe and you’re away!

I’ve seen my arse today, in case you were wondering.

Would these vans also have a depot by the big market in Lyon

there are lots of worthwhile jobs, but its how you go about doing them is how you make them pay, do your homework first then go at it in a proper business fashion and you should make a few quid
