Boomerang Dave:

Be aware you have to pay for the first £1000 of any at fault damageThat’ll be the excess on their insurance covered then. So, crap wages and drivers cover the insurance. What a horrid company that must be to work for.
I loved working for them. I never paid any damages and got paid for parking.
Conor,
When was that?
Did you cause any damage?
LeedsChris:
Have you tried The Green Group based in Rotherham.

About 11 years ago. Back then people who never worked there used to say they took money from you for damages and didn’t pay parking. Never damaged anything but picked up the odd trailer where some arse had bent the hinges on the doors without saying anything which seemed to be a common occurrence there. Reported it and never heard anything. Had a fuel cap which went walkabout one day (think I left it on the pumps), reported that and nothing happened.
Used to get paid for parking in MSAs and truckstops without any problem - just used to put them down as an expense on the time sheet and it was in the following pay packet. Even claimed for phone calls when I had to use mine when the radios didn’t work.
You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. I personally love it. But each to their own, I’m not a driver for them though…but to be honest some drivers are their own worst enemies sometimes. Some can make it work to suit their lifestyles some can’t. Some hate the cab swapping (Understandable and have already voiced my opinion on this…even giving a couple suggestions) There are rumors that trampers will be given their own assigned truck…but that’s all they probably are.
They give new drivers a chance though, they’ve given me that chance already putting me in the office. As soon as I have my license I’ll be driving part time on my 4 off. But it is what you make it, until you’ve been there and done the job you’re just going off of what others are saying…what suits one may not suit another. And I’m no way a yes man or a brown nose, but I personally love my job. Then again people will say i am, as some can’t get round the fact people like their jobs…

Cheers

so what’s the deal on the paying for damage then?
Nothing to lose by going for the interview, it is good that such companies offer jobs to less experienced drivers …

didnt he jump before the fall? and wasnt the fall caused by it’s biggest backer pulling out?
Those wages are an insult to the profession.
If management had a rethink, paid top dollar & had a rigorous selection programme to find the best drivers, they could turn that firm around.
With ongoing training, they could raise drivers’ pride in the job & reduce driver turnover?
