Interview at Reed Boardall

Daz

I have to mostly agree - especially seen as chambermaids are paid more than that where I live and don’t have to spend large wedge or take huge responsibility as part of their job & training.

That said, I also see how many newbie drivers need a stepping stone to a better job, so it fills that need for some.

When I was a new driver, I took a job with a company in Castleford… I lasted a week or two. They were a right bunch of cowboys, from what I understand… at least RB run straight and have a good fleet.

Have you tried The Green Group based in Rotherham.

Is the Green Group something to do with Pete Osbourne aka Inov@te

He’s the CEO.

And look what happened to his last 2 companies then…

Ken.

Is he the geezer who looks like a Hale & Pace coach driver character?

Maybe it’s just me, but if I were running a firm, I wouldn’t want it discussed on a forum such as this with such negative remarks.
I’d do what I could so that drivers wouldn’t see it as some kind of stepping stone to a better job!
There are drivers on this forum who speak very highly of their employers & are very content with their lot. Don’t the management at RB read any of what’s on tinternet??

I believe only a fraction of what I read on the web. Especially in forums, they’re usually not the best place for balanced opinion. I’m guessing most people have a similar view.

We have now got Chief Spokesperson JTF to keep us abreast of all the goings on at RB :

JTF:
Not sure yet, I’ll let you know as soon as I do. But we have had a few incidents with lorries being damaged and not once heard of anyone paying anything out of their wages or of the such so atm I think it’s just heresay.

Cheers

You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. I personally love it.

You say you love it, but then add that you (a) don’t drive for them, (b) work in the office and (c) don’t have your licence yet?

So you’re some sort of fantasy truck driver?

no he is young lad with a passion for lorries trying to break into the industry the best way he can. I wish I had an opportunity like that when I was his age.

I’m not going to bite at said comments, people can think what they like but as I said before I’d find out for people and I have. Yes you do have to pay for damages but only if it was down to you that damage was done. IE You try to create a convertible double decker going under a low bridge you will be paying some of it…I was also told before there was no cap on how much you would have to pay…but now it’s at around £600 (paid a little bit out of your wages every week)…so essentially they’re basically telling you not to drive like a ■■■■ and be careful. So unless you drive like an idiot or you rely on your sat nav all the time to get you places there’s nothing to worry about :unamused:

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

And yes I am one of those fantasy truck drivers, unlike those fortunate individuals my age who have had their licenses paid for them I have not. I’m working ones arse off to pay for said training, I rely on nobody but myself not many people my age are exactly going out of their ways to gain their ambitions single handed. Yes it’s gutting I’ve not been able to do my training before I turn 20 but we can’t always get what we want can we…at least nobody can take away the fact I’ve earned everything I have.

Don’t let anyone here put you down Jonny. Your’e clearly a bright young man and you’ll no doubt achieve your goals in life. Far too many slackers out there expecting life handing to them on a plate. Well done fella!

I’m not having a pop a you jonny, but that’s ■■■■■■■■ and you’ll realise it’s ■■■■■■■■ once you start driving, the best driver in the world will make mistakes every now and then. I think it’s a terrible policy

I agree, Sadly I’m not in a position where I can change the rules. I can only let people know what I’ve been told, doesn’t mean I agree what I’ve been told though. But I can understand it to some degree but with every reason they give there could probably be 10 reasons to back fire it. But I have to say there haven’t been that many accidencts since when I started though!

Cheers

Spoken like a proper clueless office bod. You will go far my son.

daz1972:
As the title goes I have an interview with Reed Boardall have searched the forum for advice on there driving assessment can anyone tell me if driving is done on same day as interview? Also what are they like to work for read a lot of different stories. Passed my class 1 2004 and have only worked odd days through agency due to current non driving full time job no driving at all last three years but would like to go full time driving just gave them a ring and they offered me an interview straight away despite lack of driving over last three years.

I often go into borough bridge for back hauls and nice helpfull folk the lot of them,I was so impressed when I went for a coffee I filled in one of there company suggestion forms, just saying I knew where there was a decent yard becoming vacant at Xmas and if you took it over and offered us a job we’d be eternally gratefull, worth a try  .

Typical comment expected from a driver who thinks that damaging employers wagons is acceptable.

With ongoing training, they could raise drivers’ pride in the job & reduce driver turnover?
Daz

Reed Boardall aren’t struggling. They make their money from storage, not the haulage. They used to do the haulage FOR FREE, charging a handling fee for each pallet instead.

As for training, they give drivers a 3 week training period when they start which is far more than most companies. Even Stobarts only do a few days.

You must be one of those people that buys something worth a fiver from ebay and pays a tenner because the postage is free.

Wasn’t there a thread on here by disgrunteld from London about RB and their Northern Monkeys nicking work down south.
Can’t be doing that bad they seem to be expanding when Stobarts coughed to being unable to make chilled pay

Yes there was I think he went by the username “Ex owner driver” what a prick he was :unamused: funny enough haven’t seen much of him since he got ripped to pieces.

Give E. Pawson at braithwell a try they take on new drivers
