Indicators

Am I missing something here ?
Are they becoming obsolete ?
Cars indicating left when turning right on islands ?
Nobody indicates when joining motorways ?
I’m sure they’re still a requirement in the Highway Code ?
Has the law changed ?
#confused.co.uk#

They’re like speed limiters, some people use them, some don’t

Boom boom

 hitman heskey strikes again :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Ok can get with the roundabout business but why the hell do you have to indicate when joining a motorway?

You think they are going to drive up the hard shoulder or use the run on slip as a take off runway? Not difficult to guess where they are going is it?

ffs. really?

Some slips are very long. It’s just like a lane change… you indicate prior to moving lanes. :unamused:

Depressing, posts like this…

blue estate:
I will put it this way NO INDICATOR ON ! Your not coming out !

Some daft cow in a car had moved to the centre of a single carriageway road and stopped to turn right into a sideroad. She’s sat there doing a sarcastic thankyou wave to each oncoming vehicle that didn’t yield to let her turn… WITH NO INDICATORS ON

It just beggars belief the amount of ■■■■■ on the road… noticed that a lot lately… the sarcastic thankyou wave. Like you MUST stop for them when it’s your right of way. :unamused:

Hey Blue Estate…

Be grateful that us driving gods tolerate you buffoons in your silly 18t vans. If you can’t be a proper truck driver you have no right moaning

Considering the amount of people who find driving in a straight line difficult, I really don’t expect them to grasp advanced operations like indicators!

Meh goad there’s some thickos on here.
Nae wonder people can’t get it right when they make their own rules.

If people are that arrogant or lazy to move ONE finger to put their indicators on then I’m afraid that I can’t be bothered to give way at the roundabout they’re turning right on or to move across a lane to let them in. It’ll hurt me a lot less than them.

I’m with you there mate.

Me crystal ball has finally died through overwork, and if right turners at roundabouts can’t be arsed to indicate nor position themselves to give the slightest clue they might be turning right, then they shouldn’t be surprised if their route gets blocked.

Good indication has become so rare that i find myself acknowledging those that do with a wave of thanks if their considerate competent driving has allowed me to maintain progress, i don’t do a lot of waving these days

Minor grump here about MAN’s in particular, the steering being so low geared means lots of steering movement just to make the slightest deviation, this can lead to the indicator self cancelling up to half a dozen times in quick succession on the approach to a turn, and anyones guess how many times that might be on a really big roundabout or where a junction is on a slight curve…so i have to keep pressure on the stalk to keep it in place, now the lorry is made almost entirely of cheap brittle plastic and i keep hoping the self cancelling pawl will break off, but sods law dictates thats the only bit made out of aircraft grade material :unamused:

My DAF is the same,I try to keep a finger permanently on the stalk whilst turning,it’s easy for me…

My MAN steering wheel is on the pee so it keeps knocking indicator off

The strange behaviour I have noticed is cars approaching roundabouts indicating to turn right, then going straight on

I’ve got to hold my hands up to doing that often.

If you don’t do it, the person screaming up to the stop line at the left turn/entry WILL just simply drive into your path, or the yoof in a low spec Audi A3 with tinted windows tearing around you in lane 2 will move across you because lane discipline is something for other people to worry about, eh? Though I do give a breakaway signal in the right place. Lesson learned from doing too much driving in South London - where dodgy minicabs and dodgy yoofs are in so much of a hurry they absolutely will over/undertake you if you have the temerity to accelerate at anything less than flat to the mat. Those kind of ■■■■■ make obeying a 20mph limit genuinely dangerous too.

So what you are saying is that it is ok to give conflicting signals to ALL other road users so that YOU are A OK ?

Erm…welcome to the new age folks.

To all those that are saying ’ Why should I give a signal/Why would you expect me to give a signal’ and ’ I expect you to move over into lane 2,to let me out’…Have you people ever read the highway code ■■?
YOU are part of the problem, you fools !
Also, when I used to move over on the motorway/trunk roads,to let people out, only for them to hang you out and pull away from you, making you look like the idiot…Well now I don’t let anybody push their way out ! Some of them start blowing their horn at you and some nearly crash, before they finally get the message. Learn how to damned well drive properly, you morons !

I think that I need to get myself a main battle tank as my daily driver…see if they get the message then,eh ■■

Have I got you wrong here? Or does your rule of letting nobody out apply to trucks joining a Mway that are signalling to join it? Do you just block them in.? :open_mouth:
If I am joining a M way and signalling, yeh I expect a fellow driver to let me in (as it always was) and when he does there is no way in hell I will speed up and keep him in lane 2…as I aint a complete ■■■■ !

We have all been left hanging by some ■■■■ who has not got a second to spare in his crap over pushed job, so he just speeds up rather than let you back in.
I still pull over to let trucks out though, I reckon if you don’t you are just as bad as the ones that have ■■■■■■ you off, so you have taken to driving by their example and yet another ■■■■ poor driver joins their ranks. :open_mouth:

Best just to raise above it I reckon and continue to drive in a proper manner, it prevents it from becoming a state of more useless ■■■■ s than proper drivers.

Goldfinger:
What about when cars are turning right on an island in the left hand lane of an island, when the roundabout is NOT marked for such a manoeuvre…■■? :open_mouth:

Correct use of indicators on roundabouts is almost a thing of the past.
