Am I missing something here ?
Are they becoming obsolete ?
Cars indicating left when turning right on islands ?
Nobody indicates when joining motorways ?
I’m sure they’re still a requirement in the Highway Code ?
Has the law changed ?

Rule 103
Signals warn and inform other road users, including pedestrians (see ‘Signals to other road users), of your intended actions. You should always
give clear signals in plenty of time, having checked it is not misleading to signal at that time
use them to advise other road users before changing course or direction, stopping or moving off
cancel them after use
make sure your signals will not confuse others. If, for instance, you want to stop after a side road, do not signal until you are passing the road. If you signal earlier it may give the impression that you intend to turn into the road. Your brake lights will warn traffic behind you that you are slowing down
use an arm signal to emphasise or reinforce your signal if necessary. Remember that signalling does not give you priority.Rule 104
You should also
watch out for signals given by other road users and proceed only when you are satisfied that it is safe
be aware that an indicator on another vehicle may not have been cancelled.
Unfortunately its only advisory rather than compulsory.

They’re like speed limiters, some people use them, some don’t
Nobody gives a ■■■■ about anybody else any more.
We have become a very ignorant country where manners seem to be disappearing fast

Couldn’t agree more, and not just on the road either, its dog eat dog now, very depressing.I never used to mind Mondays too much but now I dread it ,I know I won’t get too much sleep on a Sunday night waiting for the alarm to scream at me,have a good week everyone.
What about when cars are turning right on an island in the left hand lane of an island, when the roundabout is NOT marked for such a manoeuvre…■■?
Don’t ask me, I drive an Audi!
But I definitely agree that the road manners that existed 20+ years ago have long since evaporated…

I Have to agree with you there mate, although I still try to rise above it and hopefully set an example to people.
Yep. Let us find a special place of happiness tomorrow gentlemen, and rise above it all.
My special place is any motorway service area within a 200 mile radius.

.
Yes they do.
What the frec does it matter, they are going to pull out anyway.
Why would you indicate when joining a motorway?
Where is any traffic JOINING the motoway going to go■■? Left ■■ or RIGHT

I always do…in the vain hope that my bright orange blinky light will distract approaching drivers from their phone/tablet/eating/drinking/applying of make-up etc;
I,myself, have on occasion, been guilty of some of the above
I don’t use my indicators. I have a ■■■■ off big indicator on the roof…
Ironically, BMW drivers may start indicating…a feature on the new 5 series allows the driver to overtake in driverless mode just by holding the indicator.
(from a self confessed BMW driver).

In fact,I was just freshening up whilst going through the 16-19 roadworks on the M6 the other night…complete disaster
The easier it gets to do something the less people can be arsed to do it, on most modern vehicles a push of the indicator stalk will give a few flashes (5 on the units at work) of the indicator, most vehicles have full power steering these days but yet a lot of drivers can’t be arsed to steer properly at roundabouts
I have noticed that their horns work though, as I plough on through roundabouts if I see no indication
Even more bizarre is how they think the right thing to do on a slip road is to emerge under your nose and then promptly indicate to join an empty lane two!
Tbh I quite like it when they exhibit a “f… you Jack, I’m alright” attitude as it means in the unlikely event of something going spectacularly wrong whilst still in sight of me then I too can happily reciprocate and simply steer around their wreckage and leave them to burn to death as I carry on my much more important journey!
I blame car manufacturers. They are too keen to have self-cancelling indicators. So the indicator often decides for itself that it has been flashing long enough. I like indicators which have positive on/off switches.
