I can answer that one rob. He broke the rules plain and simple then lied to cover up. What if he or his mate had the virus and ended up spreading it to a vulnerable person and many more?
These rules are there for a purpose and that is to stop this highly contagious virus spreading and causing hospitals to be overrun which then leads to others not being able to be treated in time.
I am sure anyone who is waiting for treatment for the likes of cancer etc is absolutely disgusted with these selfish rule breakers.
From what I heard today England will still have about the same number of cases after this lockdown as when it went in so it may well continue. On the bright side there may be a vaccine ready before
Xmas which will be available for vulnerable people and health and care workers.
A virus so highly contagious that you need a test to know if you’ve got it.
Another hysterical bed-wetter.
You quite obviously know very little about the subject. Might be best to read up before making silly comments.

Jake cut Mike some slack he’s been out the loop for 13 years since 22/3/2007 before reappearing 30/9/2020
robroy: @Franglais.
Still waiting for you to explain where I am wrong in what I said about the heavy handedness of how this stuff is being dealt with,.and how they are keeping us in our place in an almost Orwellian way.
While you are coming up with something to refute it,.I’ll try and put up the link of the guy in Manchester who was actually fined for…wait for it.
Calling in at his mates for a cup of tea.
As I said oppressive measures and taking away civil liberties…

Ok, Jake, I’ve read your post, but I’ll just answer the first paragraph, if you don’t mind, and ignore the regurgitation of the official line rhetoric.
He called in to his mate’s house for a cuppa, so he’s branded as a potential carrier of Covid, and fined some ridiculous amount. (I’m resisting the urge to question the old lack of Police resources cbestnut, and mentioning the potential drug deals quite possibly going on 50 yards away btw)
So this morning at 8 o clock he goes to work,.and quite possibly meets his mate who works at the same place, but as if by magic he’s no longer considered a risk to his mate.
So that illilustrates the futility of this cluster ■■■■ of your ‘rules’.
Same with me,.yesterday I would have been watching the double bill of football with my mate down the pub, but we can’t, as it’s considered dangerous, but I’ll be ok out working next week meeting numerous people at my deliveries, wearing the same mask as I would have in the pub.
Your precious rules just ain’t consistent mate.

I agree some of the rules are rubbish (and they ain’t mine btw ) but not an excuse to break them and put others at risk. I thought anyone going to work should social distance from others or if they can’t they should wear a mask. That’s what is meant to happen but how many ignore that?
There are two big problems here, the government dithering around instead of making concrete decisions and the people who for whatever reason will not abide by the rules.Total shambles.
As has been mentioned other countries have dealt with it far better as there were far tighter rules initially and their people did what they were told.
Franglais:
And as to “predictions”, what are we discussing?
The possible scenarios if different courses of action are taken?
The possible figures, given by doctors and epidemiologists? Or the inflated headlines given by rags to make sales, and which never were accurate. Those figures which are misrepresented in those same rags today?
Wasnt it just last week you were saying on this same thread, that all the rags were saying the same thing so they must be right■■? On today’s bbc 4 propaganda campaign there telling us the great news that a vaccine will be ready early next year, (and I love this next bit) for us all.
Yep. Wonder how much the lying BBC paid those doctors and nurses to say they were frazzled? I wonder how much the BBC bribed the Times, Mirror, Sun, Mail, Guardian, Express to carry stories of exhausted NHS staff and crowded wards in March?
They really are awful aren’t they.
You might have a brain the same size as that of a very small goldfish, most here have functioning memories.
Ok well it just so happens my partner is a nurse, during lockdown 1 in the spring the wards were half empty?? Yet were all out clapping and being led to believe some sort of apocloypse is taken place, nurses were so exhausted in March they were fit to come out and clap for the bbc for us all to see?? Don’t make much sense does it?? Wards being full at this time of year is normal the same as they were full this time last year. Everything you read in a newspaper must be true, we all know they never lie!!
[/quote]
I daresay some wards were half empty. The IC wards weren’t.
.
Is everything we read in the papers true? No, I’m not saying that.
But if the all the papers are carrying the same story, then you’ve gotta have a pretty big reason to think they’re all in the same conspiracy to feed us lies.

It is a shame that SAGE and the Government don’t have the quality/experience/qualifications of your average truck driver on the internet. Then they would realise how silly they all are. It’s a pity they cannot afford to employ the genius’ on here.
Either that or they know a bit more than us and are doing what they think is best.
I wouldn’t take advice/critism from Chris Whitty on reversing an artic. And I wouldn’t give him advice on virology or public health matters.
You are lorry drivers. Stay in your lane and do as you are told. Then we might get back to the old normal and move past this pandemic.
I’d insert a thumb’s up emoji but the site doesn’t seem to support them
Juddian:
Dr Mengele’s vaccine needle containing God knows what into your arm is another question entirely.
It would appear…
That Dr Mengele’s vaccine is here.
Roll up roll up (your sleeve).
Fiver say’s you’re wrong Juddian.
I’m rather upset that Edward Jenner, responsible for saving so many lives in his pioneering vaccine work isn’t recognised.
And it seems Phizer’ s vaccine is 90% effective…
Looks very, very, good news.
For those with limited vocabulary that is NOT saying there is a miracle cure, here and now.
If forced to choose a vaccine provider (as if that’ll be an option!) I’d choose Pfizer over the Bill Gates foundation anytime. Any company that can discover the secondary benefits of ■■■■■■ is ok in my book
Harry Monk:
In your own, personal, experience, would you say that the impact of Covid-19 has matched that which has been predicted from the outset? Do you personally know dozens of healthy people who have died from it, for example?
Fair question.
No I don`t.
But to try to put that in context, why would I ? .
Why would I ■■
Simple answer is you would expect to do judging by the drastic actions of virtual oppression, and the making civil liberties a crime by the Government.
Action more appropriate if we were stacking up and burning bodies on the street because of it…, instead of dealing with a bad case of (whether you like it or not) flu like symptoms that many people are surviving.
Time for a severe reality check Franglais,.and to stop swallowing all the b/s.
Virtual oppression?
Prolonged cruel or unjust treatment?
I see a temporary need to reduce mobility for a justified lowering of mortal risk yo others.
Making civil liberties a crime?
A sweeping statement about a targeted set of rules (Imperfect though they are) for a civic purpose. Most civil liberties are intact: free speech, freedom of religion, etc.
A bad case of the flu? Flu like symptoms? Yep, just like a Pit Bull is like a Labrador. Both the same but is more likely to kill you.
Bodies in the streets? As I said, you still have freedom of speech to say whatever you like.
Reality check time? Yes.

Seems likely that if this vaccine works then others will too. There will possibly be more than one “recipe”.

It’s getting to the stage with some posters here, that we need to write a hundred words explaining what we aren’t saying, but they will still read whatever they imagine is written there.
Franglais:
I see a temporary need to reduce mobility for a justified lowering of mortal risk yo others.
My thesis has remained consistent since the outset. Aegrescit medendo. Burn not your house to rid it of the mouse. The effects of lockdown, including deaths from other, untreated diseases will far outstrip the lives saved, to say nothing of the unemployment, home repossessions and other misery to come in 2021 and beyond. I believe the average age of those who have died from Covid was between 82 and 84, so people at the end of their natural lifespan, and this in the year following a very mild flu season in which far fewer people died than would normally be expected.
You may not be expecting this but I’m immensely happy that there’s hopefully a vaccine coming, I also hope that over time and with a little tweaking it can be made as near as ■■■■ it 100% effective.
That way those that want a vaccine can happily go and receive it and those that don’t won’t. Hopefully then the vaccinated will stop bleating about “selfish morons” putting others lives at risk because they’ll be happy and confident in their immunity and are hopefully content to let Darwinism deal with non vaccinators.

I assume you believe we have gone wrong then?
What do you think we should have done earlier, and should do now?
There are also massive manufacturing and logistical challenges in immunising huge numbers of people, as the vaccine has to be kept in ultra-cold storage at below minus 80C.
The vaccine appears safe from the large trials so far but nothing, including paracetamol, is 100% safe.
The average cold storage won’t do, and transportation will be difficult. Don’t all rush at once.
