Impact of latest lockdown

the maoster:
You may not be expecting this but I’m immensely happy that there’s hopefully a vaccine coming, I also hope that over time and with a little tweaking it can be made as near as ■■■■ it 100% effective.

That way those that want a vaccine can happily go and receive it and those that don’t won’t. Hopefully then the vaccinated will stop bleating about “selfish morons” putting others lives at risk because they’ll be happy and confident in their immunity and are hopefully content to let Darwinism deal with non vaccinators.

That’s not how lefties think. Lefties want everyone to be equal. If I can’t have it then neither can you. If I have it then so must you. If they have the vax then so must everyone else, to be equal.

Franglais:
I assume you believe we have gone wrong then?
What do you think we should have done earlier, and should do now?

We should have just accepted that the Covid virus is an unstoppable force of nature and allowed it to run its course while encouraging the vulnerable and elderly to avoid exposure to it until it had.

The Government’s handling of it has been ludicrous. Two lockdowns, with “eat out to help out” sandwiched in the middle?

“Run it’s course” as it started to in Italy? Patients in hospital corridors?
Just let those with COVID get on with it? Or actually allow some to be treated?
I realky don’t see what you would do? Without enough hospital beds or carers would you weed out those with COVID or those over a certain age? What about a young cancer patient with a year to live opposed to a COVID patient of 30 years old. .
Letting it run could probably mean overrun of resources. Who choses those who love or die when beds are full?
.
.
PS eat out to help out, is crazy

If I was you Franglais after reading your numerous posts on this subject I’d just lie low until you can get this new vaccine.
Start stocking up for Christmas with food and drink, subscribe to Netflix, get yer local builder in to build an underground Fuhrer type bunker in your back garden, (or the economy option, convert your under stairs cupboard into a Covid shelter),
Be sure to keep up to pace with the Covid news, so you can post us the latest on here.

Give Winseer a bell for advice on tin foil hats,.and where you can buy an ex military bio suit, just to be 100% safe.
Good luck…and as for the rest of us, may God have mercy on arse holes.

Covid 19 is the stick, now get ready for the carrot…
Recent experience from the rise of Greta, ably supported by one/three fifty dot org,any one in dissent was ‘arguing against a child’,gave the government, perfect example of how to mute dissent, opposing views even from scientists,‘save the nhs’,what from the normal cash squeeze/bed shortage in winter?billions of pounds ‘spent’ with firms aligned with government ‘mates’,saving the nhs?
A supposedly conservative government crashing us so deep in debt, makes 70’s pale into insignificance, here comes the carrot, follow the rules/save Christmas, build back better, biden campaign slogan, also policy document for IMF along with world debt relief programme, watch out for these two phrases …ever been had?

Franglais:

Ah the famous patients in the corridors footage, shortly followed by the footage of hundreds of Italian military lorries loaded to the gunwhales with dead bodies for disposal. Never forgetting the original China footage of hundreds of people simply falling down dead mid stride as they walked the streets.

Yep, I’m sold on that one too.

It’s all quite bizarre. I could be on yard work for the day, and I could be working in close proximity to somebody else for 12 hours because there’s no other way to get the job done, and then I couldn’t enter their house after work to have a cup of tea with them.

“Ach, but ziss ist verboten und vee must obey zee orderz!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Arbeit macht frei Harry doncha know?

Happen you do read my posts. And mentally cut out all the bits you don’t like. Always pratting on about me “hiding”? What have I said to suggest I am locked up myself?
Probably as you watch the news and censor the bits that don’t fit in with your views.
How do you, Maoster, Harry, and others explain those pictures from Italy and all those stories in the UK press last March? Do you really think the Mail, Express, etc are in the same conspiracy to spread false news as the Guardian?

Fined for a cup of tea with a mate?
‘Exceptional cases make bad laws’ almost applies here. The rules against distancing are mostly sound. Exceptions can be found to almost everything though. Picking holes in a rule made by humans is easy. Getting a speeding fine for 30 in a 40 is normal. So is a ticket for parking on yellow line.
If you get those tickets when rushing your kid to the doctors they seem harsh.
.
Yep. Pop in the newsagent to get a pack of sweeties, come out and you’ve copped a ticket. Hurt no one, no kittens killed etc etc.
.
If I knew the German for that, I might kid on I was making a clever point.

‘‘Always prattling on’’  …sorry if I’m getting under your skin mate, but tbf you do come across a bit pre.occupied with all this stuff, you remind me of the Trucknet version of that old bird on that Frankie Howerd show in Pompeii, who used to come on shouting ‘Woe, danger, woe’ trying to put the fear of God up everybody.

Way back in March when I was on furlough I was nearly as bad as you myself, i(but not quite as  ) in between cans of beer in the hot sun in the garden (God I suffered,.and was missing work  ) the wife would be watching 24 hr news shouting ‘Rob come and see this, come and see that’ and I got to thinking ‘Christ this is ■■■■ serious’ , so much so that I made the Mrs stay in all those 6 weeks, and I ‘braved it’ (what a hero eh? :sunglasses: and went out fully masked up doing the shopping with everybody else who was at that time convinced it was a zombie apocalypse,… even the Army made a field hospital out of the local concert site and gym complex ffs. :open_mouth:

Like you I was totally sold on it, and keeping up to date with all the media to the point I was quite scared…and believe me I ain’t easily scared, but the ■■■■ s had got to me.

While ringing mates up who were still working asking ‘‘If they were ok’’ :unamused:  ,.I was getting the ■■■■ ripped out of me for swallowing it all…I’ve admitted it I don’t mind.doing that (but I still blame it on being locked in with my Mrs and seeing nobody else to keep my feet on the ground  )

When I started back at work in a state of trepidation, what a shock I got…no zombies walking about, no people dropping in the street, no piles of bodies…nothing, although a lot of vulnerable people were suffering, and a lot of other people being ill yeh, …but eventually getting over it…as things are now. :bulb:

So can I suggest you do what I did, listen to all the media rhetoric and exaggeration, and not as you say ''Censor the parts that don’t fit in with your views ‘’ , but look around open your eyes, what do you see yourself that does not include a tv screen? …is it how they say, it is or are most people just trying to get on with things.
I ain’t saying it’s ‘false news’ just sensationalist over egged, exaggerated news, of course the pandemic is real, but all the reporting is fixed on those who are mainly old, infirm and have other health issues, so I’ll keep being careful with that god awful ■■■■ mask, but the MAJORITY of people, who get it and get over it, as people do with flu, and are not reported on.

Feet firmly on ground mate, while still being careful…Chill out and try it yourself. :bulb:

That’s not how lefties think. Lefties want everyone to be equal. If I can’t have it then neither can you. If I have it then so must you. If they have the vax then so must everyone else, to be equal.

Oh THAT’S how Lefties think. Cheers, often wondered.

Sorry mate I really can’t be arsed to go back over all your many posts tbh on this stuff :open_mouth: …and pick out examples.
But you do appear to be fully up to date up to the minute with it all, quoting different appraisals and articles by various experts etc., whilst having slight digs at those who do not share your apparent obsessive view or approach to all this, …(.I ain’t the only one on here to say or imply (or prattle on  ) this either btw. :bulb: )

Anyhoo…if I’m annoying you, just ignore me, (but now I know that I am stand by and take cover :imp: .  )

So you imagine both that I am cowering somewhere and that I’m annoyed by your posts? Well, neither seem too relevant really.
I was curious about which of my posts made you think the way you do, but we’ve exhausted that avenue. I’ve been trying to talk about events rather than characters, but if want to go down that road, that’s up to you.

I think the Local councils are doing all right out of all this, they’ve cut services, shut public facilities, furloughed the majority of the staff, got extra funding from central government for COVID related issues.
They are still receiving full council tax from everyone but there expenses must have gone down by half now…
They’ve started drafting the Army in too to help with the testing (which should have been done from the start as it’ll be done properly)…
What’s chances of them putting council tax up next year blaming it on COVID expenditure :unamused:

You take me too seriously mate, I don’t imagine you’re ‘cowering’ , the Fuhererbunker crack was just my weird sense of humour, but I do think that I’m mildly annoying you, if I am I apologise.
I do however rightly or wrongly think you are getting some kind fixation with all this stuff, , and a weird satisfaction reporting all you watch and read.
Whether your motives are to relay the alarm from the media, or are just trying to get the rest of us around to your way of thinking, I ain’t sure, but if it’s the latter…Good luck with that one.

What does upset me is the “fake news” and general crap being bandied about. Conspiracies about fake moon landings might be amusing. Conspiracies about how COVID is just a chill encourage lack of proportionate precautions. Conspiracies about vaccines discourage suitable medical actions.
It isn’t melodramatic to say that rumours and stupid words cost lives.
I’m not accusing you of starting any of this stuff, by the by. Maybe you aren’t as sceptical as you could be? Dunno?
Some if these stories are based on half truths and innuendo, it’s not always easy to spot them. If I help point out the flaws in some of them, then wearing my y-fronts outside of my trousers is suddenly less uncomfortable.
