Impact of latest lockdown

Zac_A:
There won’t be any compulsory vaccinations in this county, if there were going to be such a thing they would have done so for the MMR. (Please no comments about Andrew Wakefield and the autism myth he created, he got struck off for that)

They maybe won’t be compulsory, but they’ll sure as hell encourage you to get it via media saturation propaganda.
The next step will he those who don’t will fail to qualify for numerous things, foreign travel being the first, then maybe even credit and mortgages.
You can win small battles with the ■■■■■ in authority, and the establishment, but you can never win the war against em.

The pubs were on there arses again when they introduced the 10pm curfew, this will finish them off now.
I do believe there is a Virus but I think the hospitality industry has been punished for the school’s and universities going back as early as they did,the last data showed something like 2% of infections were linked to hospitality the schools and universities were massively higher.
The pubs worked hard to get things in place,I like a pint in my local,I think it’s a British way of life “The Pub” but I don’t think they’ll survive this time… :frowning: :frowning:

“Media saturation propaganda”…
Like the Green Cross Man indoctrinating our gullible kids to look and listen before crossing the road?
As you so often say Rob- “Get a grip”!

Get a grip■■? :open_mouth: yeh?..Hmm a strong air of irony from you there mate if I may say so.

Ok,.so where exactly is the connection or relavance between a genuine road safety campaign designed to save kids lives, and all this ott reaction and hidden agenda covid stuff?

Do you seriously think for one second that they will not go all out to convince, coherse, and virtually blackmail people to go out and get any vaccination they hurriedly come up with? :open_mouth:

I don’t remember the Green Cross guy, or in my day Tufty the squirell, virtually threatening you if you didn’t stop and look both ways for traffic.
I’m tempted to tell YOU to get a grip here (again,) but I’ll resist the temptation.

Anyhow, why are you even mildly concerned about any threats, being the serial conformist rule follower that you come across as on here, it’s just be the next tedious chapter for you to soak up.

Conformist? Moi?
I wear coloured socks with dark suits!

I have said that this is a serious disease, and it should be taken seriously.
I haven’t said we all need to wrap ourselves in cotton wool and hide for ever.
If you’ve the time, go and check my posts and call me out if otherwise.
(Tis a form of torture to read then all, but you asked for it!)
OTT reaction? Where?
The OTT is in some elements of the press and their reporting of COVID events. And in the OTT the economy will shrivel up and die hype from some news sites whose owners (living on yachts, and with expensive private health care in place) are worried about workers not keeping their share values buoyant.
The OTT doesn’t seem to be in the actual facts, but in the reporting of it in rags and websites after hits to get advert revenues.
“Hidden agenda covid stuff” qualifies as OTT in my book.
.
Is my view fair?
I dunno. I hope so, but I can’t possibly be a good judge of myself, can I?

I’d hate to be a publican right now.

Maybe not a publican, just a Tory bar steward

I have said that this is a serious disease, and it should be taken seriously.

It’s the 19th most common cause of death in the UK this year. Most people do not know anybody who has died of it, however this Winter everybody will know somebody who has lost their job, or their home, or their life from some other cause which was not treated promptly because of lockdown. I’m unaware of any other similar incident where healthy people were quarantined and in fact the Woodstock Festival took place between the two waves of the 1968 flu pandemic which was at least as lethal as Covid-19.

Quite simply, you cannot hide from a virus, merely extend the time frame over which it causes collateral damage and it would have made far more sense to shield the vulnerable only and allow it to run its course over the Summer when the human body is far more able to withstand it.

Go back and read ALL your Covid related posts?? :open_mouth:
Err…no I’m washing me hair today AND tomorrow thanks mate.
The conformist thing was relating to a subject on another thread we were involved in, the subject escapes me, but you kept quoting ‘‘The rules’’ to me.

I also think it’s genuine, but I reckon the difference between us is this…
My arse is just about totally ■■■■ bored off with it.
I’m more interested rightly or wrongly trying to maintain a social life through it all,.and not letting the scaremongering and propaganda I referred to get through to me, but trying to see through all the mist coming off the hot bull ■■■■.
You?..you appear to be.willinglly swallowing it all,.evn embracing it to the point of enjoying it
Hence my attempts at winding you up on here whenI can…it’s just what I’m like, …sorry.

That’s how it appears to me anyway.

Pubs have been on their arses since the smoking ban came into force, luckily this latest lockdown has opened more pubs, normally on a Monday there are no pubs open within 10 miles of me, today they opened to show solidarity (hic) Cheers, they are all opening until Wednesday night for drinking up and happy hour

19th most common cause of death?
In Spite of all that is being done? Where would it be on the death hit parade if these current measure weren’t being taken?

The 68 Hong Kong flu took about 1million lives in the whole of it’s run. C19 is nowhere near done yet and it has certainly killed more already.

You certainly can hide from a virus: isn’t that what shielding is?

In practise, how can we shield the vulnerable? Surely they need care from better able and younger carers? Those carers deserve a home and family life. How can we work that??

The human body copes with C19 better in summer?
Never heard that before.
C19 might be less contagious in summer?
But less dangerous?
Sounds like a preamble to a call for Barrington type herd immunity? Some experts are in favour of that it is true. Many more are against it. Although the majority aren’t always correct, surely a minority view needs a lot of evidence to hold sway, and they haven’t provided any.
.
Edit to add.
On BBC R4 PM, there is a strong risk of cancer patient’s not having operations.
Why? Because IC beds are taken up with C19 patients already. Any calls to lift restrictions and let it run will cause more cancer deaths…now…Not just 20 years later.
.
That’s not being sensationalist RobRoy.
That’s an NHS doctor speaking calmly on a reputable programme.
Some will find it distasteful, and attempt to call it scaremongering. Of course they will. Maybe those are the ones who can’t see that 2020 is not 2018? The world has changed. We need to be realistic and deal with it. There aren’t any good solutions, just some less bad ones.

You’ve never heard that Winter is the peak period for deaths from respiratory illnesses?

Really?

I hadn’t heard that the human body reacts differently to C19 in summer or winter.
.
I had heard that respiratory diseases spread easier when people are together indoors, to keep warm, rather than outdoors in the open air. I think I covered that. More case equals more deaths. Not necessarily to so with how the body reacts.

Franglais mate…your last post, (along with numerous othes) and the fact that you actually bothered to find out, and know all this stuff, just illustrates my points.to you. :bulb:

I can’t quote you any Covid related scientific theories by Dr Thisthatortheother, I can’t give you any intricate details or statistics,…
But I can tell you that Newcastle won yesterday and are mid table, I can also tell you about, and reccomend (and actually did on Bullys) an interesting documentary series I’ve been watching, I can tell you that Wetherspoons are sellingl 99p pints up to lockdown, tel you my litte Grand daughter told me she’s going to paint me a picture at Playschool tomorrow, … in other words I’m trying my hell best to just carry on as normal during all this crap, looking after myself and my family through it all, but avoiding getting total preoccupied with it, and letting it rule my ■■■■ life… #justgettingonwithit.
See my point?

I too, can walk and chew gum at the same time!
I’ve got a full time job (remember them, mate?) but one that gives me time to play on Google etc. I mostly listen to R4 when driving, so keep up with C19 news most of the day. It doesn’t bore the ■■■ off me, footie does. Knowing what is current makes stuff easy to find in www land.
.
The science and stats I find fascinating. I claim no expertise, but can see where some of the arguments are in conflict.

I note the mention earlier of Andrew Wakefield, and recommend to anyone the Ben Goldacre book “Bad Science”. Good lessons there for everyone in recognising specious arguments, told with humour too. And John Allen Paulis’s book “Innumeracy” to sharpen up a few ideas about chance and statistics.

Ok, I take your point.
Love the full time job/remember bit btw…ouch.

Still doing 50+ hours in my 4 on/3off in my defence, more than what any of my non trucker mates do in their full time jobs.
Loving the extra time at home, should have done it 20 yrs ago. :sunglasses:
Said it before say it again…more to life than spending most of it in a ■■■■ truck.
Hey Franglais give it a go mate…, think of all that extra time to spend on Covid research. :bulb:

This will soon be a thing of the past anyway, some of the finest medical brains in the world are working on a vaccine…

Got to admit this whole gaslighting project in shepherding the masses to the DNA/tracking implant scenario is breathtaking in it’s evil-genius.Stage-managed to perfection. Not everyone carries their phone around constantly,i sure as hell don’t,so there’ s a few more million to be corralled and what better way to remedy the situation than the hypodermic-syringe method (alongside all the other toxins and adjuvents), given that 20 years ago the Hitachi Corporation perfected a micro-chip the size of a sand grain,i imagine technology has developed significantly in the interim. If folks are not joining a few dots at this stage then we truly are up a certain creek without a certain instrument,it’s just appalling that even intelligent elements among us are not receiving serious epiphanies at this stage given the weight of evidence against this whole sh@t show. There’s a lot of egotistical showboating across the board, wouldn’t be at all surprised if we have the odd 77th-brigade shill within this forum tbh.
