I pissed off van man. Update

why even bother with this kind of crap ? aint the job stressful enough as it is ?

it would be different if an accident was caused but it was’nt , let it go ffs you’ll end up in hospital with a heart attack … get on with what you’re doing and go home .

if anything bad would have happened the camera would have caught it .

karma mate, his ticket is round the corner

Im at a loss as to what you think “he started” exactly? He made a manouver that happens day in and day out millions of times a day on most roads across the dam planet FFS!
To me, he seemed to be making fairly good progress past the wagon in the NS lane. The transit driver was an impatient C as most are, end of. Its Impatience like that, that causes accidents every mutha ■■■■■■■ day not a wagon overtaking another on a DC!

I did not say he did start it - if you read my post carefully you will see that it could be seen that way if the van driver says he did to plod

Why did you quote just the bit which took my post out of context?

You have selectively quoted ROG there. I think he was implying what the police might say.

I can’t see how anyone can really criticise the OP (unless they have never overtaken someone thus) even if the OP was “speeding” (which would anyway make the manoeuvre quicker - hence contribute to road safety by reducing WVM’s annoyance factor). He has every right to overtake safely - IME there is little to be gained short term but it could get you miles further long term. At that rate he possibly would have reached the M4 a few minutes before the overtaken artic. OTOH, he did underestimate the time it took to overtake, not that even that was a big deal, though WVM thought it was. As for WVM’s subsequent actions, he obviously made plain his opinion (as usual these muppets are not in that much of a hurry if they can take the time to show their frustration and idiocy). If there had been a rear-ender the video evidence would make things entirely clear and mainly in the OP’s favour (the “only” downside being why didn’t he avoid WVM). Even if I was squeaky clean I wouldn’t bother informing on them even though I would have found their actions extremely annoying at the time and they deserve to learn a lesson. Even only yesterday I thought about calling plod re a BMW driver who went through a “no motor vehicles” sign as well as not driving too well - I saw a can of beer between his legs when I caught him up at the lights. Unfortunately you never know when karma may strike back…

He never said it took him 30 seconds to overtake, he said he delayed WVM by 30 seconds, there’s a difference

Please explain.

Snudger:
Please explain.

If it took him 1 min 20 seconds to overtake, but the van wasn’t behind him for 50 seconds of that, that’s only a 30 second delay

Look let’s kill this the van driver was a ■■■■■■ and very irresponsible in his actions after he passed.this happens hundreds of times a day all over the world, time to move on me thinks!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me about 5 or 6 years ago.

On a d/c on a left hand bend, everything clear in mirrors, pulled out got level with middle of vehicle I was overtaking, a little red Peugeot arrived, on the horn lights flashing, off side wheels on the white line.

Knew what was going to happen and yes got the sign language and two brake tests! He/she must have been going like a bat out hell to turn up so quickly and on a lefthand bend they weren’t in my sight when I pulled out. They slowed me to about 25 mph.

The purpose of this little story?

I was driving a fuel tanker! With a big orange sign 2 metres from their nose to that effect.

Wow to many non HGV drivers in this thread, OP did nothing wrong … ive had brake tests done on me a couple of times, i would love to smash into the back of them but instinct takes over and i brake :frowning:

I’ve has similar in the past …

Going up a dual carriageway hill at 50 in lane 1 of 2 with a 25/30 truck struggling up ahead and a faster car ‘way back’ in lane 2

Well, either I was going to be well slowed down or the car was so I decided it was going to be the car

I pulled out and must have been in lane 2 for a good 10 seconds before the car caught up

After car caught up I spent perhaps another couple of seconds in lane 2 before being able to pull back in safely

Car driver then passes me and dives in front followed by harsh braking !! … ■■■■■■

You are right. For some reason I took “being level with the Scania” as reaching the rear.

Back on track. What if you get the braking “lesson” from a fellow HGVer? For earlier on this year I was chugging up lane 1 on that slope on the M4 in Wales (the bit with the relatively short slow vehicles lane) when I got this. This was despite the artic driver, having overtaken me, seeing the reason why I didn’t move fully left - the codger in a car going even slower than me in the climbing lane! Grrr. Idiocy abounds!

Its a case of small van mentality , bitter and twisted and all full of bile at being stuck in a ten bob van all

day.

They only do it because they have no intention of stopping and backing up the big man gestures and they

know their little van is faster then your lorry.

Karma will catch them out one day . Twerps. :sunglasses:

shuttlespanker:
personally, i would show this video to the police, as it can be classed as a road rage incident, and you clearly have the vehicle reg number showing, and also the fact the he brake tested you

^^^^^^^^^^ what he said …

I had similar recently on the M4 - small white van trying to get on the motorway, I’m in lane 1 and lane 2 is full of traffic passing me. I heard the van blowing his horn at me - wanted me to pull over to let him on. No way José  He stayed beside me till he hit the hard shoulder, then braked, pulled in behind me (wouldn’t that have been easier 5 seconds earlier), overtook me still blowing his horn then cut in about a foot from my front bumper. I realised what was coming so had already slowed down before he did his brake test. He must have been impressed as he was waving out of his windw as well  He actually managed to slow lane 1 to about 20mph before driving off. He really thought I should have got out of his way to let him on the motorway. ■■■■ :smiling_imp:

BTW - what has happened to the services at Raglan on the A40/449? Have they closed for good or what? Was never impressed with them, but at least they were there.

I’ve heard somebody has bought them and they’re being renovated.

They were never brilliant but at least they didn’t charge to park. That’ll probably change now. :frowning:
