And truckers wonder why car drivers think they’re knobs.
But it wasn’t the A14, it was the fairly quiet A449. And the distance I gained meant i made the lights at the Coldra and he didn’t. So I’m a mile down the M4 before he’s even on the slip road.
Speed limit is 50MPH, ■■■■. He was going faster than that and so were you. The fact you made the lights was pure chance and nothing to do with you overtaking him.
shuttlespanker:
everyone has the right to overtake slower vehicles if the road allows them to, unless dictated by the road signs, such as the ‘No Overtaking for HGV’ signs on the A14 and the M42
DaiDup was already exceeding the speed limit for the road when he decided to do his 2 mile rolling road block stunt.

are you saying that you stick to the posted speed limit on every road when you are driving every different class of vehicle on your licence?

I agree with conor, to many people play limiter wars, drivers need to understand you cant drive on the limiter everywhere. But theres no point in talking about it because most lorry drivers are ■■■■■■■ idiots anyway and cant garsp that the fact that you save more time not ■■■■■■■ about at drops drinking tea with the forklift driver than you’ll ever make up on the road.

That’ll be like me on the A30 this morning then, from Ottery to the M5, overtook a Sainsbugs artic (signed on the back as limited to 50). I had CC set at 50 yet overtook quickly without having to speed up or him slow down. Lo and behold, I was on the the M5 slip road before he had crossed the junction (those that know it currently will know that the diversion sends you up to the MET office roundabout and back down.
Knowing the A449 as well as I do, its perfectly possibly to both running at indicated same speeds yet still be in a position to catch and overtake, and given its undulating nature towards the Coldra then its definately possible to arrive at the lights and be away before the vehicle you have passed even arrives at the lights.
As far as the OP is concerned, if I had the finances to fit a camera in the front of mine and epxerianced the same then I too would shop him. Even if the lorry was speeding, that does not in any way condone the actions of the WVM.
Finally, Conor - do you actually have the ability to drive a lorry, or do you just do it from you armchair…
shuttlespanker:
personally, i would show this video to the police, as it can be classed as a road rage incident, and you clearly have the vehicle reg number showing, and also the fact the he brake tested you
^^^^^^^^^^ what he said …
So then white van man say the lorry driver was flipping me the bird/shaking the coffee beans at me through the side window as I went past
It wasn’t a very good brake test anyway
As I said earlier, I showed plod this video and today he got back to me.
The van is registered to a company in Durham, but strangely there was no phone number or names of any directors. It was very vague. Another check on the reg revealed that the van is neither taxed nor insured. ‘It probably belongs to travellers.’ (his words).
He said he’s fed the number into the ANPR computer and the cameras will be keeping an eye out.

nice one for reporting it at least get another menace to society off the road

I’ve a confession to make…
Sometimes i do 52 on a DC, sometimes 56. Mainly though it’s 50.
Sometimes i “make the lights”, sometimes not.
Somedays, i’ve all the time in the world, others i need to CTFO.
Occasionally i inconvenience other road users, most of the time, imho, i’m a poster boy for the industry.
Where do i rank in the “using genitalia as an insult” scheme of things?

This is the kind of selfish sentiment that’s the problem with drivers today.
Do you sit in lane 2 on the motorway in your car at 70 and think that no one should be overtaking you anyway because you are doing the maximum speed limit?

i don’t think you’ve got that quite right, you see he didn’t make the lights, the op was originally behind, so also wouldn’t of made the lights, the op overtook and did make the lights, now maybe i’ve got this wrong? but i think the overtake can, at least take a bit of credit for making the lights

They will also know that the temporary speed limit through the road works is 40mph which could explain why you passed the Sainsburys artic with him not slowing down from the speed he was doing. The notice at the back isn’t relevant in this instance.
