So to all those giving it “not enough distance between the OP and the car in front”, you all give others that much space when overtaking before pulling back in do you? I think not!
Jesus wept - it was appalling driving by the Micra - regardless of where anyone else was!
Can anyone make a comment on here these days without being ripped to shreds?

So you post a video up on youtube complaining about another driver, then come on here to ■■■■■ about it, yet you were sitting far to close to the car infront given the conditions and the weight of your lorry…
obviously not too close… he stopped didnt he?
Well done he did stop, but he was still too close for the conditions. Should of had atleast 4 sec gap due to the rain and weight of his lorry, had he of been sitting the right distance away it wouldnt of turned into the drama you see in the video. Yeah ok the car driver did something very silly but abit rich for the op to come on giving it the billy big ■■■■■■■■ when his driving isnt exactly on par either.

Errrr,
No. I dont think so. Its what makes this forum the snake pit it is!

What in christ name are you listening to! Anyway…
This maybe one for the lorry driver 6th sense quote, well no really a sense…
‘‘You can predict what somebody else is going to do before they actually do it, just because of the number of hours you’ve actually driven. You see certain patterns of driving, see it evolve and react in good time’’
Could you have seen this coming? The odd braking through the roadworks was it because of the workers or was it because the right hand turn was closed. The slow down of speed before the brake lights/indicator came on. It was also a nissan micra which rings alarm bells.
If you’ve left sufficient room in front there’s no need to predict what the idiot in front does even they just stop in lane 1 for no obvious reason at all.
Yeah i agree but 2012 roads don’t let you do this, our trainers tell us 8 second gap is the perfect gap to stop for anything fully loaded without harsh braking, but something always fill a gap that big even if its only for a second whilst they accelerate away. If something enters that gap and slams the brakes to leave at a junction for instance, that is when you need to predict their behaviour whilst they overtook you, you just get a feeling and ease off. No everything is black and white, all the braking distance in the world can’t stop you hitting something cutting you up, you need to predict that sort of thing.
The fact is no one cut the truck up at all the video shows a track record of allowing seperation distances to erode instead of maintaining them even when it was obvious in cases such as at the roadworks that the traffic ahead was slowing up and brake lights were showing with the truck still being allowed to run on instead of backing off and braking to keep the distance.
The incident posted in the video was a wake up call to the truck driver it’s up to the driver wether he learns from a lucky escape or not.Next time the driver might not be so lucky and trust me in this case that video evidence would have shown a truck running into a car, because of the loss of seperation distance which took place before the incident in question, regardless of what it was that caused that car to stop which luckily it didn’t need to which is all that probably saved the driver from that situation.

In the case of a truck running into the back of a car and causing serious injury or worse it won’t be anyone here ripping anyone to shreds. It would be the law. A bit of ‘constructive criticism’ on here might help the driver learn something in future which helps to avoid that situation.

You should change your name to PERFECT ROG.

In this case ROG only blamed the driver of the car which the truck was following for not going through on the inside to get away from the truck.
The op was most likely getting ready to overtake the cars in front hence the shortened seperation distance guy in the micra was just a pillock
Should a collision had happened then the op would have been done most likely for driving to close to the cars in front and also speeding from the check speed alerts

Sounds about right for him, although one wonders how he manages to see anything at all from high up there on his horse.

That issue of letting the seperation distance erode when approaching slower traffic in lane 1 and waiting for a gap in the mirrors is one of the oldest rookie mistakes in the book.

Or maybe he is a professional driver something there seems to be a distinct lack of these days.

He’s certainly a professional something, although “driver” is not the word I’d use.

Lol, all the people saying erosion of stopping distances blah, blah, are you high? Everyone was anchoring on because some idiot was trying to get themselves killed, you can’t maintain stopping distance if you are effectively doing an emergency stop. Can you also see the rest of us from your high horses?
Sorry about reaction time comment. When one has watched the video a few times it’s easy to say you should have braked earlier. But in all honesty, first time I watched that vid I didn’t even see the Micra till the cab cam tilted forwards from the heavy breaking!
PS I drive a Nissan Micra (very considerately) so ■■■■ off with all the stereotype “all micra drivers are crap” comments. They are great little cars.
