I give up.......

Kerbdog:
I can’t believe some of the posts here. Regardless of anything else going on the red Nissan Micra driver, slammed on in the inside lane and turned across a running live lane with cars running fast (and within the limit due to the camera) without any thought. If the Police could find this car from the number plate they would do the driver for DANGEROUS DRIVING. The truck driver can be doing any speed, brake late or beep his horn but it does not detract from the complete stupidity of this car driver.

This week we have had at least 1 person die and 2 airlifted to hospital on the m6 in cheshire and several accidents following that throughout the country. It could be that someone had a blow out somewhere that casues an accident but its the utter idiots like this car driver who may get away with it, but ultimately its the same idiots that cause major accidents. What the hell goes through their mind !

As for the other video regarding trucks, that was on one of the funny TV clips programmes (hence the speeded up footage and music). They were diverted off the road at the bottom of that slip road you see them coming from due to an accident (you can see the amount of vehicles diverting due to the accident) but then the bridge that the camera is mounted on isn’t high enough for trucks which is why you see them doing what they do. They should really just park up but hey ho.

The fact is there can be loads of different issues which happen on the road ahead of anyone sometimes for unexpected but non blame incidents sometimes not.In this case it’s obvious that the erosion of seperation distances by all concerned following the idiot who turned right from lane 1 and before that not only made a bad situation worse but also caused a hazard on the road before that point.

the fact that they all stopped in time suggests to me that seperation was ample

I think that the Nissan jockey wanted the turn previously coned off in the roadworks and then took the next one available " Ooh look, where does this one go?"

Moron.

Nothing wrong in using the horn - it’s what it’s there for.

Some people need shaking awake from their little world :unamused:

If it would have been me then they’d have got abuse and a lot of hand waving gestures too. :smiling_imp:

kerbdog give me your views on this one seeing you like to dismiss the other one as ok.What excuses can you come up with this time?

youtube.com/watch?v=KspWgk0q6nY

socketset are you really sure about that?

Officially the horn is to warn of your presence or danger.

I’d say that following that manoeuvre they were unaware of both so I’d have given it plenty. I know you are not supposed to use it a rebuke but sometimes I’d like to think that a 10 second blast of horns might, just might (not holding my breath) make people realise that they have just done something dangerous. If you don’t complain then they will be blissfully unaware of any problem they have just created.

“Oh ■■■■ me, there’s a bloody great lorry there I’d not spotted in my mirrors. Perhaps I’d better be a bit more aware of my surroundings”

A very small percentage chance of that happening I’d agree.

So you post a video up on youtube complaining about another driver, then come on here to ■■■■■ about it, yet you were sitting far to close to the car infront given the conditions and the weight of your lorry…

Well done he did stop, but he was still too close for the conditions. Should of had atleast 4 sec gap due to the rain and weight of his lorry, had he of been sitting the right distance away it wouldnt of turned into the drama you see in the video. Yeah ok the car driver did something very silly but abit rich for the op to come on giving it the billy big ■■■■■■■■ when his driving isnt exactly on par either.

On the positive side ,
it saved you all from getting a speeding ticket from the fixed camera at the junction :unamused:
… and your horn works – Merry Christmas :sunglasses:

OK, that’ my pompous ■■■■ routine done, the Micra driver was a complete and utter bell end and should be banned from driving for life. The clue is in the words ‘Micra’ and ‘driver’. Worst drivers on the road and run even Beemer and Audi drivers a close second!

^ This. The fact is ‘if’ the truck had run into the car in front it would have been the truck driver who was to blame for it because it wasn’t the car in front that stopped in lane 1 to turn right it was the car in front of that one.In just the same way that in a pile up in fog they won’t just blame the two vehicles at the front that started it all off.

While there’s a big difference between stopping in time more by luck than judgement compared to stopping with loads of spare room in front and with plenty of time to spare. The video actually shows the truck driver allowing seperation distance to erode to an unnacceptable level at numerous points before the incident in question even took place.Such as

1.04,1.29,1.33 and 1.35.

Put it this way if there’d been contact involving the truck and injuries caused owning to the turning car incident the video evidence leading up to it wouldn’t have made it easy to clear the truck driver of blame.

What in christ name are you listening to! Anyway…

This maybe one for the lorry driver 6th sense quote, well no really a sense…

‘‘You can predict what somebody else is going to do before they actually do it, just because of the number of hours you’ve actually driven. You see certain patterns of driving, see it evolve and react in good time’’

Could you have seen this coming? The odd braking through the roadworks was it because of the workers or was it because the right hand turn was closed. The slow down of speed before the brake lights/indicator came on. It was also a nissan micra which rings alarm bells.

Im no saying you could have seen this coming or even if anyone could, but you do get a feel for some incidents before they happen, but some just blow your mind like this one.

You stopped in good time with a little extra to spare you should be thankful. The horn thing its pointless really because i bet the person in the micra is wondering why is that big lorry blowing his horn, they will have no idea to what they have just done. They will drive on without a care in the world these are the kinda drivers that cause pileups on motorways and drive off into the distance without looking into the mirror at the huge fireball behind them.

This ^^^^

If I see a Micra I’m particularly expecting the driver to do something incredibly stupid. They almost always do.

When I used to work as a motorcycle instructor we always used to encourage the students to imagine ‘what if?’ Where do I go if this or that or the other occurs. Mainly 'cos on a bike when it goes ■■■■ up, you tend to get a bruise or three.

Maybe that’s something you should incorporate into your driving a little more…

If you’ve left sufficient room in front there’s no need to predict what the idiot in front does even they just stop in lane 1 for no obvious reason at all.

Yes Truckulent I agree he was too close for the conditions.Even a 4 sec gap in the dry is a good minimum distance but in the wet it is far too close.
I remember watching a video a while back about advanced truck driving and they were talking about the 2 second rule which as you know is a minimum traveling distance for an alert car driver in good conditions.
Then they came on to trucks and they said for a truck in dry conditions a minimum of 4 secs is appropriate.
KNOW THE SCORE AND MAKE IT FOUR.always sticks in my mind.

Yes he stopped this time but if something unexpected had happened he would have not.

If you check out the video the truck didn’t actually ‘stop’ at all he was just lucky that the car which turned actually cleared in time for the car which the truck was following to keep going instead of having to stop.In this case the turning car is a total red herring it’s the stopping distance between the truck and the car in front of it which was the issue.

Yeah i agree but 2012 roads don’t let you do this, our trainers tell us 8 second gap is the perfect gap to stop for anything fully loaded without harsh braking, but something always fill a gap that big even if its only for a second whilst they accelerate away. If something enters that gap and slams the brakes to leave at a junction for instance, that is when you need to predict their behaviour whilst they overtook you, you just get a feeling and ease off. No everything is black and white, all the braking distance in the world can’t stop you hitting something cutting you up, you need to predict that sort of thing.

A ‘Nissan Micra’ didn’t stop in front of the truck at all it was the car behind that which (almost) made an emergency stop but didn’t stop at all.Luckily for the truck driver. :unamused:
