How often do you wash your lorry?

mot time next month, it will be steam cleaned by the garage boys and brought back looking good as new ready for another years hard graft…

We have a yard man who washes all the trucks and trls so I haven’t washed mine for over 3 years!

My truck gets washed when it looks as if it needs it. Sometimes weekly (winter), then maybe not for a month or so (summer). If we are taking horses to a show, then it HAS to be clean, much to the exasperation of my wife.
Glass and mirrors every trip.
Cheers
Paul

We take ours out clean. They HAVE to be washed on our return. Unless it’s ■■■■■■■ rain, or pitch black.
Part of our job is image. They want them looked after, which is fair.
At the end of the day, they resell for more, which keeps our fleet modern, I also hate dirt! :sunglasses:

Ditto.
1 truck, 1 driver. It’s yours, look after it.

We share all ours, we never get the same unless we are on a week away.

We have a company that comes in every other sunday and gets the trucks wet, you could never say they wash them. If I get chance ill wash the 3/4s of the truck they missed but its very rare we get chance.

mine get done every weekend and most days some part or another get some attention if it needs it or not

2 shifts and between those shifts the trucks can be washed twice a day.
Sometimes they don’t need a wash after a shift so they get left.
The amount of folk that complain and the truck ain’t even dirty ffs , it’s just not wet when they walk out to it :unamused:
I don’t give a stuff if it hasn’t been washed down in spring summer time tbh. The only time it racks me off is if some doss lazy ■■■ has left the side windows and mirrors pitted with crap after a day out in the winter and you can’t see ■■■■ all and have to go and do it yourself before you can get going.

Most fridays with the steamer in the yard, and then once a month at junction 40 truckstop for a proper clean, curtains etc.

Finally done mine yesterday (cab only, I don’t worry about the tipper); We’ve been flat out using subbies yet 2 of us are told by 2.45 pm that “there’s no work left”, yet about 5 subbies come in and get loads. This is when I wash down when it’s in the firms time.

as often as i can , sometimes i’m out all week & i dont get near a hosepipe, other times i can be home every night but just cant get near the wash ! i got to admit i feel better when i drive a clean lorry , i believe the condition of the truck reflects on the driver , it also reflects the drivers attitude towards the job , this stands for any position regardless of occupation

we have to go through the wash every night(they put cones out at 1700 so you have no choice).but about 3 weeks ago someone smashed it down so mines a bit s…y now

I usually get my TM to wash it at least once a week, while I’m drinking the tea he’s made me,well I haven’t got time , I haven’t been trained on washing trucks and I wouldn’t want to sit in wet clothes all day

It is quite decent and just demonstrates how filthy a bike can be :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello cheeky!

3 pages on washing your truck/lorry
god give me strength

My boss is big on having the fleet clean,he runs a fleet of about 38 units,200 trailers and 12 rigids and has our own onsite drive through wash, also access to power hose, soap and brushes,if he sees us slacking he normally waits to we are busy and makes us do it so we will do it next time were not so busy, the fleet is white so i have to clean mine every 2nd day,i normally spend at least half an hour on it,its like a work out to do it thouraghly, but i get great satisfaction from having one of the freshest and cleanest trucks in the fleet,i feel i must do a major clean on a friday i like to be able to head off far away on a Monday all clean, its a bit annoying when it rains and ruins the hard work but if it has a good base of polish its easier cleaned,i spent ages on it tonight, but i was told my hard work isnt going unnoticed and i might be in for a treat of bling for her,so fingers crossed, some think im mad but its just me!

as im cab hoping i dont bother il brush the inside out though and if the regular driver has cleaning gear in il use it and give it a wipe down too and more often than not the regular driver will thank me for leaving it as he left it sometimes even better the next day :sunglasses:
today though i made a right mess so while waiting to get tipped i went to town on it and was spotless when id finished only for a smart arse shunter to come over an pipe up dont u think ur going a bit to far with mate :unamused: when i replied with no pal 1 i cant stand working in a ■■■■ tip and 2 i am not a scruffy ■■■■■■■ so il clean it when it needs doing he soon went off chunering to himself
