I wash most of the fleet every weekend
(I get through a lot of tyre black)
your actros is in need of some t-cut on the cab at this rate you won’t be called reddaways, but pinkaways removals
when i got this one in january it was just short of a year old and had never saw soap en water …but i give her face a wash every week or every 2 weeks when im home at the yard … ‘’ A CLEAN TRUCK IS A HAPPY TRUCK ‘’
Woah your ment to wash the truck since when??
Seriously thou, I went a two/three month period where it didnt get washed. Out on the road all week with the boxes for DFDS. Had a moaning at by the boss for not washing it, but merely pointed out that as I was finishing anywhere between 22:00-03:00 Friday. Surprisingly I never had such a late finish again.
But must admit I do like a clean truck. Its a sense of pride that comes with it and with being out on the road all week then its (as bad as it sounds) more than a truck but an extension of yourself
gadge…you been up and down the m6 and a14 the past week? any time after 18/19:00?
EDIT…must remember how to count!!

Yip on changeovers last week and down A14 way on friday , if you saw one of ours running around its my trucks sister its R200RDD my one is R100RDD , if you see us give us a wave dude … we have week about down the A14 corridor
When my dad was on the bulk tippers and got his foden. We were down the yard nearly every week washing, waxing and polishing it and spent a full morning cleaning it from 9am until dinnertime. To be honest it was my favourite time of the week as the colour scheme when fully cleaned and waxed it was a sight too be seen!!
Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of it other than a framed picture in my room
The only thing that was missing on the foden was some chrome and it would have been perfect. But the only time a truck should be clean in my opinion is at the start of the week and at the end of the week. Also if you’re taking it to a truck show if you’re wanting to show it.
Cheers

About 3 times a week, got a wash in the yard we drive into on way in for fuel or end of day. Part of the bonus so I can’t moan but as I’ve got the oldest motor I refuse to do anymore then put it through the wash. Used to black tyres and polish tank and would if I had a worthy motor but there is no point. I’ll be on agency from September anyway as I start college so I won’t be bothering at all then
The company that i did euro for i never washed the outside, simply because our gaffer was too tight ,he would not pay for it, infact hardly any driver washed the truck that they were in, plus you did not get your own truck, but depending on which company i was working for on agency work as some had their own truck wash at the rdc , i would give whatever i had been driving a wash purely to add another hour onto my time for the day,lol
Mine is washed as often as possible.
If the weathers ■■■■■ I will do it every day if I’ve got access to water. I carry my own hose as well as all cleaning gear so if possible the cab, chassis and trailer gets done and it’s only ever done by hand, never had a pressure wash on it.
Luckily I’ve got the ally to the point where a quick wipe over with soap and dry off with a synthetic chamy is all it needs although it gets a polish every couple of weeks to keep on top of it.
I move medical trailers so where ever possible they need to be kept clean and also a lot of our sites are plumbed because some of our trailers require a water supply.
If your ever at a hospital in the middle of the night and see some eedjit washing a truck it’s probably me or one of ours.
Cheers

nice to see so many having a bit of pride in what they do and drive, cant fault so many of you,i think we out number the mingers by quite a bit…three cheers to us boys who keep our wheels clean…clean and tidy trucking is the name of the game
i try to get mine washed once or twice a week we have a jet wash in work (if ya could call it that) its not very powerful but a good scrub with the brush/sponge gets its clean and the tank is polished nearly every day, i have rear trims fittefd and they get a wipe over most of the time when i stop,
as for the inside, i polish the inside once/twice a day depending on time, i try to not eat often in the cab either and brush the floor out every day even when its not dirty, i like a spotless truck, i intend to keep it spotless aswell as its a reflection on myself, some of out trucks r like pig sty’s how any 1 drives them i will not no but i like to be known as clean and were another driver in our firm wont mind me havin to use their truck if needs must as they no am not a tramp
a clean truck is a good image on yourself an your company
give my lorry a wash down after every trip and the boss pays for it to be waxed once a month,i give the inside of the cab a polish when loading and unloading.
MO(Topgun):
i wash mine every chance i get, every day if possible,we have at least a dozen truck washes at our depots all over the country and if we didnt have them washes id do it with a hosepipe and broom, you cant beat a clean and tidy driver and truck, set yourself a standard and dont drop below it,i even black my tyres about once a month at least and the inside is wiped down every day and polished once a week…yep i wouldn"t feel right if i went home at the end of the week and left my work tool dirty…mmmmm…luv it
You wouldn’t get f-all done on muckshifting Some lorries need to be cleaned like Washy said to comply with various laws; I’m in a dirty job so a quick hose off of the lights, numberplate and tipping body is all that’s needed. If I cleaned my lorry during loading I’d get a ton and half of brick rubble on my head.

1 hour for dinner plus unofficial breaks, and finished and home by 5pm is the name of the game and considerably more than £7.50ph is the name of the game for me
EVERY DAY ,Muckaway , no harm in doing it , it makes me happy and my customers , , my dad use to make me clean my raleigh Chopper every week and he allways said if you dont clean it your never have another new bike .
Not driving trucks at the mo, but in winter the coach NEEDS to be washed everyday, in weather like this every other day, the inside gets done as and when I can be arsed to do a proper of it…
In the summer I try get it washed 2-3 times a week with a polish at least once a month… Come winter it gets washed maybe 1 or 2 times a week and never polished as all that effort is wasted by the 1st 2miles… If I was like others and jumped form motor to motor then I prob wouldnt bother my arse although it bug the hell outta me having a dirty truck but why wash it to lose it the next day?
Once a week if its not hammering it down with rain, usually as I live about 30 seconds from the yard I will do it early on a sunday morning.
We have a drive through wash at our trailer park. I encourage our drivers to use it as often as possible.
That way we all keep clean while we are working. Even the busiest driver can spare 10 minutes and he or she is still earning as they wait.
No brainer really.
