Which,as I’ve said,we are one of the world’s best producers of.So why the need to go to Poland for so called Polish beef ‘filler’,that’s actually horse,when we’ve got plenty of ‘beef’ of our own.But maybe too many people can’t afford to buy proper burgers,made with just decent quality beef meat,instead of mostly so called ‘filler’,because British wages are being paid in worthless mickey mouse money and most of our decent beef,that could go into those so called ‘value burgers’ ( which are obviously anything but considering the accepted definition of the word ‘value’ ) is going for export.

I think you’ve missed the bit where I said that it’s not me who’s lost 60,000,000 euro’s worth of business because of Polish burger ‘filler’ imports.
But no surprise that you’d think it’s strange and naive to point out that the government is probably zb scared of putting the excact description of what affordable so called ‘value’ food products actually consist of because that would show the real ‘value’ of the mickey mouse currency,which people are being paid,as so called wages or pensions etc for all the hours they put in at work.
While the question,of Polish ‘beef’ imports,which are actually horse,for use in burgers sold in the British market,while our own British beef gets exported,remains.

So we (or in this case Ireland) are importing filler from Poland, not beef. Can’t see how you are finding that concept so hard to grasp. Buy cheap meat you get nasty rubbish. Why dont you pop into a supermarket for a change and have a look. There is plenty of good quality British and Irish meat on the shelves, there is no consipracy to send it abroad, there is a huge amount on sale in this country. I deliver plenty of it all the time. Including from the two Irish factories involved in this. One of which used to be one of our biggest customers.

I think it’s more a case of the government saying that it’s possible for a family to live on the minimum wage.No one is going to buy a pack of cheap ‘value’ burgers for dinner if they could afford to buy the same amount in steak.While if we open the British beef market up to the demand from China it’ll obviously increase prices of the decent stuff even more.But incomes obviously won’t be allowed to increase to pay for that situation.
But your idea was exactly what those union leaders and membership of the 1970’s said when wages weren’t increased in line with price increases.If you’re only prepared to pay zb wages with money that’s worth zb all then don’t expect a premium job done at the end of the day that’s even if we decide to turn up for work instead of striking for a better wage.

Problem is that idealistic way of thinking is wrong.
Your burgers would be more expensive than the competition and your customers would go elsewhere. Not only would you go bust you would have to lay off your staff and your suppliers might go bust because they no longer have a company to supply.
Get real and try to live in the real world we all have to live in now. If you won’t do something cheap enough there will be someone else who will.

i don’t think that you’d get much decent beef for £5 let alone £2.50.But it’s no suprise that when workers ask for more money that’s called inflation but when the shopkeepers make burgers with loads of offal and/or filler instead of decent beef that’s called profit.
You can get a ■■■■ nice piece of rump for £5. Good meat can be had at a good price, I buy it all the time. Cheap burgers exist because people want them. Its not hard to find reasonably priced quality meat in the UK. In fact right now I’m cooking 350g of Welsh Topside steak that cost me £3.60.

So assuming that the burger manufacturers can buy decent British beef at wholesale prices a lot less than that.Why are they bothering with flogging burgers made with offal and/or ‘filler’ of whatever type imported from Poland and why are burgers made with the cheaper prime cuts of beef more expensive than a piece of steak from one of the more expensive cuts.
Because they are a business not a charity. People know burgers are full of crap yet still buy and eat them.

That doesn’t really answer the question concerning burgers made with the cheaper cuts of beef being around double the price of buying an even better cut of beef according to the example given previously.
Cheap cuts like brisket etc aren’t ‘finest beef’ but it’s better than offal and ‘filler’ from Poland.People only buy ‘value’ burgers full of that type of zb because they can’t afford to buy the better ones made with those cheaper prime cuts.Which isn’t surprising when those better ones cost around £2 per 100g.But as I said I don’t remember the unions ever being able to say that they’re not a charity when they’ve been blamed for asking for more money to compensate for the shopkeeper mentality of ever less value in products for ever higher prices.
FFS carry fast unless you buy fresh burgers from a good butcher they are full of crap. Wether they are Birdseye or tesco value.
I used to see the Jeremy Kyle scumbags round my way in farm foods loading up the trolley with crap from farm foods but still had enough cash to buy booze and ■■■■.
You go and buy four ready meals from them places at 3 quid a pop that’s 12 quid for a family of four. You can make a decent stew or spaghetti bollegnase from scratch for a lot less.
