nope i’m completely straight. don’t know if i’ve ever met any gay drivers, but i’m not really concerned if i have or not. as long as you’re true to yourself, what else matters, lifes too short .
I am getting the picture by these educated threads that truck drivers are tolerant and understanding. See you are good guys after all pity we are so stereotyped init■■?.

Now that sums it up better than I did… well said
Answer to the original question. . . . .err no!! . . . .but i got a couple of mates that are
I’m not aware of ever meeting any gay truck drivers but many moons ago when i worked on the buses I did know a fair few gay guys and lesbians. In fact for three years I shared a house with 4 other people and I was the only straight one there. Never had a problem, we all worked and socialised together.
But i’m in agreement with Little Enis that it is not something that should be openly promoted to our children at an impressionable age. Todays kids are asked to grow up far too quickly but I personally think they should be allowed there innocence for much longer.

Well, on a serious note, I’m gay. Dont hide it but most people wouldn’t guess `i was either. Best way to deal with it in this industry is to not give a ■■■■ what people say and join in with the usual ■■■■ taking. Most drivers Ive worked with are surprisingly unconcerned by it.Good man, live and let live. Who are we to judge.
IS EDUCATION ON ■■■■■■ PREFERENCES REALLY SUCH A BAD THING?
Is it really such a bad thing!
At five years of age yes it is very bad.
I never have found a reason to disagree with you until now, I’m sorry but i think you are wrong. Our world is full of predjudice and hate all because of ignorance. Lets hope our future generations form their own opinions thru education and not thru ignorance. GOTTA THINK OUT OF THE BOX DUDE!

will you be coming out of the closet or a small cupboard■■?
slightly off topic but how about AYDS slimming products didnt they dissappear quick when AIDS came out
surely theres plenty in suffolk

AIDS or GAYS?
in 15 years, i can only recall of 1 guy, that was happy too openly admit he was gay. fair play too him too, probably not the easiest thing too admit in our industry, what with stereotypes.
live and let live i say, whatever floats your boat, as long as your not harming others, (well, i’ll make allowances for max mosley and co) you shouldn’t be ashamed of who or what you are.
i was in sth mimms last week, fillin up, and there was a “guy” at the till, waiting too pay, he was most certainly, best part male, despite, having ■■■■■, ladies attire, and makeup.
i’ll admit, it took surprised me at 1st, but then thought, you gotta have balls, (no pun intended) too go through that transition, especially in this industry.
i don’t know whether i have or not and care even less. Apparantly though 10% of people are gay or are gay curious so we all must have at sometime.
homosexuality isn’t normal and kids shouldn’t be taught that it is.
I’m not saying it’s wrong it isn’t people should learn to treat everyone with respect. No matter what their colour, religion or ■■■■■■■■■.
I have a mate who is an old school sailor who doesn’t like anything out of the ordinary, I have known him for about 10 years and one day a few years ago he told me his son was gay and he was disgusted and shocked and wouldn’t speak to him again and he was distraught that “he had raised such a failure” his words not mine.
We had a good old chat over a few pints and I convinced him it wasn’t the end of the world. At least his son wasn’t on heroin or crack and his wife had someone to go and pick curtains with (it was the only smile he had all night but he ■■■■■■ himself at that comment) and now they are closer than ever and do nearly everything together.
His son is always popping into our house for a brew and a chat (he’s 24 now) and he is such a pleasant lad and if anyone is camp around him he points at them and shouts “look at that ■■■■” as he can’t stand the camp and effeminate men.
It just goes to show that everyone has some gene in them that you can’t pick and chose and if you are gay then so be it. Live and let live.
I do agree with helping kids understand that gay people do exist but do they really need to know the true goings on? No I don’t think they do until they get a bit older……
I have been known to sign off a phone call with “Love you!”
Nobody has complained yet
Statistically, there will be thousands of gay truckers out there. Probably Class 2 Drivers, then they can say ‘ooooh, I say, that’s a big one’ everytime an artic pulls into the yard.
I have a couple of gay friends and you would never know they were gay, they are just ordinary folk, they don’t hang around toilets etc.
The crossdressers are different, I’m not sure if they are gay or not, all the ones on the telly are heterosexual, Eddie Izzard and that pottery fellow.
I haven’t got any problems with any of them, if a bloke wants to wear a frock, let him, not sure about fake ■■■■■ though, seems kind of odd.
Kids probably need to know about ■■■■■■■■■ because if they don’t know they may feel isolated when they grow up if they turn out to be gay.
Probably met loads but don’t give a flying chuff, this thread is like the women drivers one as long as they don’t crash into me or my family I don’t care.
A persons ■■■■■■■■■ is of no concern to anyybody but themselves.
Don’t wish to deviate from the topic too far here but just to tell a little story, hopefully prove a point along the way.
My best friends dad was a massive homophobe, always telling my mate that if he ever “turned gay” he would disown him and rather kill himself than have a gay son etc.
Barely a month would go by without him going off on a big rant at some point about how homosexuals are the scum of the earth not fit to live and all that.
Unfortunately my friend died and after his death his parents split up.
Within 2 weeks the dad had moved in with a bloke and was in a committed homosexual relationship, as far as I know he still is.
Just goes to show that when people say “its the homophobes that turn out to be gay…” its sometimes true!

Well, seeing as Switchlogic has admitted to being gay, then…I am too.
That makes 2 of us. Many people labour under the impression that “we” are all camp, love going into toilets and generally being promiscuous. WRONG! I find all of that appalling,as do most gay people. In have been in a monogomous relationship for 15 years, played rugby up until 4 years ago and am perceived as “straight acting”. I don’t make a big deal out of it,if someone asks me I’ll be honest with them,if they don’t like the answer, tough. I have double manned with drivers over the years and they have never had a problem with it. What it comes down to is trust and respect. As for educating children at school;I,personally feel it wholly inappropiate. If they ever feel thye need to ask about homosexuality, then it is down to the parents to answer them,as they see fit. So,to all the drivers out there, even the ones who find us abhorrent(everyones entitled to their opinion),we’re not all shirtlifters, perverts or mincing queens, but decent hard working people trying to make a living. Ring any bells!

Yet another good post well done, as I said earlier my post was not to judge or riddicule but mearly to debate the issue and educate where ever possible. I am glad the both of you have not taken offence and maybe we will hear from a few more before this post dies.
