HGV stopped at Thornham over hours

I’m assuming you are based in Northern Europe,.Tallin, and you are doing nothing to dispel the stereotypical views of foreign drivers with that post and that attitude . :unamused:

Which sterotype exactly? Coincidentally, it is impossible to finish a roundtrip to most of Southern Europe or Turkey from Tallinn in 90 hours.

The sterotypical view (NOT shared by me btw as I have pointed out numerous times) that ALL foreign drivers are unprofessional, and have zero regard for the law and will always come out with some excuse or pseudo justification to break it. :bulb:

I just max driving time each week Rob and dont generally do any more than 54hours but…run out of driving time on a friday and theres no way ill spend the weekend in the truck an hour or so from home. Being at home doing the things i want to do before out again sunday afternoon/early monday morning is where its at. Its not a monetary issue as theres nothing to be gained…no kittens are getting squashed in the process… :bulb:

As long as you’re happy to pay the fine if you get caught…or are you buying your way out?

Not bothered by the slightest tbh. Those who have done their share of long distance work know what’s up. And those that don’t can enjoy their high horse at their favourite Tesco rdc waiting room all they want.

Nothing to do with high horses mate.

You seem to condone doing an extra 9 hour drive over and above the legal limit if it suits you. But what annoys me most is that you are happy to spout this nonsense on a trucking forum which is available to ANYBODY to view.

Do you not think truckers get a bad enough time as it is? :unamused: Anybody who deliberatley floutes driving LAWS deserves everything they get in my view.

I didn’t think you were bothered for one minute mate, you clearly illustrate that by your attitude and tone.
I’ve done more than my fair share of distance work so I’m fully aware of the score.
I just know what is right and what is too risky and unacceptable in the modern age of transport.
Also I’ve no need to resort to using an example of a mundane, boring and ■■■■ easy style of trucking to labour my point of view, and/or justify it :bulb:
I just try and do this job (that has almost turned to crap) in a proper way for my own good and the good of other road users.

robroy:

The risk of what? Of getting caught? Of being too tired from driving the whole of 34 hours that week?

The general public doesn’t come to TrucknetUK to get the scoop on the workings of the transport industry. They have the media for that. Not all of the heroes are foreginers though … Lorry driver killed motorist when he crashed while looking at ■■■■■■■■■■■ on his phone

You have not grasped the fact that I do not think all ‘‘foreigners are heroes’’ , despite me stressing that to you.
I’m fully aware that we as Brits have more than our share of d/heads who have managed to blag a Class1 licence.

That’s right it’s a ‘’ risk’’ no matter how serious or trivial a risk that you choose to point out.
I just do not share your cavalier attitude towards drivers hours rules, despite how pedantic and ott they may be.

Also I could not give a ■■■■ if the public read this forum or not, but if they do, your type of viewpoint does nothing to refute the poor image that we have, which I and many like me have to also unfortunately share because of the likes of you… :unamused:

Under analysis my card is always without fail 100% straight. If im out as far as Madrid then yes im zdcked but…and i know im going to get shot down in flames here from EB/Robroy and others (deservedly so) but on the rare occasion… 30 mins/an hr or so out and Mrs G’s card takes me home.
Its NOT something i recommend and i accept the liability but its done for convenience only, not monetary gain.
Tin hat on for the incoming…

Nah, no flak off me Andrew.
Like I said I aint some serious upholder of the rules or a goody goody ‘‘holier than thou’’ type either, I’ve done much worse myself.

I aint saying it’s right, and I personally would not do it myself today.
I’m sure you’re fully aware of the risk if things go epic ■■■■ up so I won’t offend your intelligence by telling you.

What you are doing is about 2 on the ‘‘not advisable’’ scale, it’s the habitual pricks who regularly score 10s every day with no consideration to other road user’s safety while they are driving with their eyes stuck out like bulldog’s ■■■■■■■■ through fatigue that should be put off the road…for good.

I can understand putting the wife’s card in your slot to get you home. [Honestly lads I’m on an innuendo break and your not helping at all].

This will be massively frowned upon know doubt but I can’t throw the first stone as I’ve done much worse. In fact if I was an owner driver myself I may do the same.

Perhaps there’s the premeditation aspect but similarly if my wife needed my card in her slot to get her home I would rather she had it in her ■■■■■ as an option.

Not wishing to make lite of this topic but you could also wear her clothes and if stopped claim an identity crisis.

I’ve had another thought (a clean one), is it possible Andrew for your card to be ‘to clean’ I mean for the miles you do one would expect the odd minute infringement and printout excuse. ?

robroy:
Nah, no flak off me Andrew.

Yeh …because it’s a much easier option to take the ■■■■ than address the points I put to you eh?
:unamused:

Well I don’t really see much point in answering your ramblings, as the double standards are hard at work here. I get the book thrown at me for defending the spaniard for working much less the second week, than he is legally allowed the first week. All on his own card. But Andrew, who in addition to running on somebody elses card, regularly boasts running four tons overweight at 10kmh overspeed gets , well, something else.

I suppose it might be thanks to his infractions being as nonexistent as the lorry on his avatar, or the company he’s subbing to.

Yeh pretty much what I said to you…‘quote; ‘I aint saying it’s right, and I personally wouldn’t do it myself’’.
So where are the double standards?
I reckon I can guess the tone of your answer to my ‘‘ramblings’’ anyway, so you’re right, I don’t see much point either. :bulb:

Not so much confusing mate, I just can’t be arsed to trawl through 38 posts/2pages tbh,… which is what I get when I click on your link.
If it’s so important to you to make your point you will need to be more specific.
Also how does my answer to Andrew make me look as bad as you exactly.

Clearly not at BrainSurgeonUK now are we.
