Sure,I understand,I had catholicism drummed into me too ,from birth, something I now regard as a false religion, but Im just intrigued. How do these things that you said, body bags, illness ,death and all the horrible things. How does this affect whether you believe in God or not?
Sploom:
.When I try and evangelise at work, nobody minds
Ok, but you are counting the ones that you have managed to capture.
But are you counting all those that scatter round the yard diving behind trucks in the yard etc when they see you approaching.
Do you often hear the word … ‘‘ORFOF’’ being voiced in the yard, but no one there?
(‘‘OH FOR Fu*** ****’’ )
Nobody (other than like minded people to yourself) likes being preached at by some religious type mate, …trust me on that,.and more so by your common or garden,.stereotypical British trucker.
How many times do you hear…‘‘I had a great conversation with a Jehovahs Witness guy,.after I invited him in for tea when he knocked at my door the other day’’.
No offence mate, but I would hazard a guess that you are over estimating your popularity to say the least.
I don’t believe in God, simple as that. Visit any childrens cancer ward and on your way home pick up a glossy magazine celebrating the life of rich 80 year old peados and 80 year old billionaires who’ve made their wealth by creating misery and division and then tell me about your benevolent God.

That is a bit like saying…‘‘Whisky ruined my liver, so I only drink brandy now’’
I havent captured anyone yet.I was hoping you were going to be the first!Once someone cuts me short,I drop the subject and dont bring it up again if it has caused them annoyance.
Moaster.
All these horrible things going on in the world,I see as a result of Eve eating the apple, disobeying God.And it shows how serious a sin it really was.
Once sin entered the world, all these horrible things go with it.Furthermore,I believe we are all tainted with the effects of original sin. When I was a child,my parents never taught me to lie,or be nasty to others,or steal,or be jealous,or talk back,or to ■■■■,but I did all these things.I was born a sinner.
None of this was in Gods original design but He has allowed us to do our own thing all over time. And look where it has got us.

Once again mate you are talking utter nonsense. You said in an earlier post that you followed the scriptures to the letter, evidently not. My suggestion is that you go and re-read it all again as you havent learnt much from it. A shame because you were begining to fool me. To be honest it seems one hell of a price to pay for merely eating an Apple, thank the lord Adam didn’t get involved with all this too, imagine the mess we would be in now.
Ok But why do you guys even feel the need to approach people about your religion ?
Just leave us all alone ffs.!!
Nobody wants it.
As I say to nuisance phone calls…
‘‘If I ever want insurance/funeral/mortgage/new car/ or whatever,.rest assured I will call YOU so in the meantime, go and ■■■■ off and don’t ever bother me again’’.
Any interests I may have I don’t ever feel the need to approach colleagues,.and definitely not strangers with…‘‘Have you ever thought about…’’
Just to add, and a bit of friendly advice…most sensible and logical everyday people immediately switch off, and then make their excuses, whilst writing the person off as some sort of fruit cake. when they start to mention crap like Eve’s ■■■■ apple, and such like
Maybe that is where you are going wrong. …just saying.

And the next little treat
Women are to blame for it all.
So the sadist created a garden, and put two people in it, and set them up to fail, so he could rain his rightful vengeance on all those innocents coming after.
So, you believe in the garden story?
Ok I stand corrected,Eve ate some of the fruit, not necesserily apple, and Adam did too.Its my mistake but its not a gamechanger insofaras they disobeyed God,that was the issue here

Guess what mate,.and I’m sure I speak for most on here.
Nobody gives a flying ■■■■ …with the exception of yourself.
One last few words on the subject, throughout history Religion has been a force for evil. Religion is supposed to make people behave through fear of the hereafter. This has not deterred people in the past and will not deter anyone in the future either. the idea of an afterlife is for those who are afraid of dying. although one cannot prove that there was no creator, all one can do is search for a more reasonable explanation based on science and science has proved most of the bible to be greatly wrong. Yet the fearful still try to preach to the wise which is also pointless. Nobody wants to live their lives based upon a fairytale and lies. This is what amounts to controling behavior which is not only bad for people but bad for humanity as it actually impedes on the the progress of science which is what all religions do, they live in the past and have no place in modern society yet they still preach the 10 commandments.

That post just about sums the whole thing up in a nutshell.
Especially ‘‘The fearful preaching to the wise’’ bit, …I could not have put it better myself.
I mean who would want to live their lives in misery from a story book written during a 1500 year period. Let us look at the burning bush that Moses supposedly stumbled accross, the bush called out to moses and Moses went to listen to it. Still this could of happened in Moses own head as a hallucinogenic trip as he would have been exposed to toxic plants in that region. Regardless to this shepherd being high as a kite or not, there is no need to base the rest of your life upon a few more of these ridiculous story lines that supposedly happened thousands of years ago. The serpent that talked Eve into eating an apple, although we know it was more likely a fig than an apple but that is assuming the story is correct. Now personally if I saw a serpent slithering towards me not only would I run out of the way but imagine the shock of it looking up at you and talking to you? As can be seen by these two simple passages from this book, you would really need to be gullable to believe in this nonsense let alone live your life based around it all. I have read the Harry Potter books but I am not living my life as a wizard. it is bizzare to say the least.
It’s just been announced that former Pope Benedict has died. How ■■■■■■ off will he be if there’s nothing but darkness now?

He’ll.have made a decent living out of it all.
Is that the one that trained for the SS in the Hitler Youth?
Bet that took some living down eh…and some explaining.

As someone who reckons that most of the stories are fanciful to say the least, and that religion is to blame for a very sizeable chunk of the world’s troubles, I just wonder what our ex-military veteran members, who are ex Afghan or Iraq, have to say on this and how they felt at the time?As an eighteen year old I was picked to do a “close confirmation “ of a car bomb just off of The Falls Road. A close confirmation involves quite simply walking up to the suspect vehicle and confirming whether or not it is actually a bomb (it was in this case) the reason I was picked according to the nice Paratrooper was that (a) I’m cheaper and more expendable than the ATO robot, and (b) I was the youngest!
They call it the long walk, and believe me it’s not only long but it’s lonely too. Every step of the way I promised God that I’d attend every church service I could. On the way back I redoubled my prayers
Later on in that same tour I was part of a patrol in South Armagh that was setting up an ambush on the back of some solid intelligence reports. Before we left camp they made us attend a church service where the Protestant vicar/priest told us that we would be doing Gods work by killing Catholics!!!
That was it for me, I was out of religion big style.
So now that youre out of organised religion, why not read the Bible and see what that has to offer you.I had similar feelings when I was diagnosed with cancer(cured now, thankfully),I had that fear rip through me,all the things that gave me security, health, money, family, bang, the ground fell beneath my feet, but I just eventually said a prayer to God to rescue me and then a great sense of peace followed on.Never spent any time worrying about cancer since that dsy
So, the cure to cancer is praying to god?
But, you must have done something bad for god to give you cancer in the first place.
No.Its not a cure, and it might come back but its all in Gods hands, not for me to worry about.Sure,Ive done bad things

Oh jeez, I’m all broken up.
This topic has gone (very) off-topic… no names, no pack drill.
It’s off to Bully’s though.

It’s absolutely no problem mate, cos this kind of thing happens to lots of topics.
TBF, you weren’t the only one.
It’s exactly what Bully’s is for.
