Help unemployment!

Maybe if angencies and companies thought about employing newbie
HGV drivers it would cut a lot of unemployment.

Sure there insurance going to be a bit more expensive but
they won’t pay a newbie as well as an experienced driver.
Then that would more than likely weigh up the diferance
between insurance.

Maybe newbies are not as swift as senior drivers but I’m sure
it won’t take long to get the hang of it. We have 4 hours training
over 4 days then test, so am quite sure the people that do
pass are more than able to do the job.

Anyone got thoughts on the matter?

This has been said before but usually falls on deaf ears.
It is a FACT that most companies want a driver who is trained, experienced and ready to go NOW as well as not being more of an insurance risk - that IS this industry so you have no choice but to work with it and not waste time fighting against it…

Errr… I don’t think you actually meant this…

I think you meant 4 hours per day making 16 hours over 4 days :bulb:

1 hour a day training is possibly too little

Well I think it is an idea for some companies maybe not all.
It is a way of helping some newbies into work and experience.

As said, most companies aint interested in helping newbies when there are experienced drivers out there to be had - maybe if there was a ‘real’ driver shortage they might but that time is a long way off IMO.

Quite correct, obviously the main aim of any business is to make money, “helping” people sadly isn’t really an issue unless it’s in the company’s interest of course.
