if you look about there are videos / trucking tales from the 40s /50s about heavy haulage then with the roads 
absolutly amazing thats what the job for me was about hard work /dirty / good comrades when london to edinburgh took a week (not 4 a week) as for the heavy haulage im to hyper for that park up for howlong

Although heavy haulage guys are good they all started on small stuff as did we all.
no offence but it seems scania245 you are awed by “the big stuff” ,take a look at the “smaller side” of life as in containers/ tankers/ car transporters/ boat/caravan transporters and many more , each has their own special skills no more no less than heavy haulage and each has their own natural drivers ,so please dont judge on size 
as size does matter if used correctlt 
Most of us try do do our paticular job to the best of our ability and take pride so some are smaller than others doesn’t mean there’s less skill involved.
the skill is doing your job everyday with pride.
HO HUM i do not have a problem with size except once she got out my clutches\said BAAH and i never saw her again as for experience think ive got a tad more than you as for being overawed yep i know what these guys earn 
and the variety of the work they get its called a challenge evrey jobs diffrent

And as far as i’m concerned the guys who do retail, blindsiding 25ft trailers and doing 5 drops a day, in between parked cars and other obstacles beats being lead and followed by ‘escorts’ anyday. Funny old world innit? When i’ve heard guys waffle on about how ‘experienced’ they are one of the first things they say is…“i’ve done low loaders and allsorts”, what no one tells you is…low loaders aint difficult in comparison.
