Got stopped by VOSA

DadsRetired:

Your phone is not going to interfere with any signal being broadcasted by the tacho unit if indeed it is actually broadcasting. If you try and search via bluetooth next time you’re in your cab you will not find the tacho unit coming up on the pairing list. It will be using a secure, hidden signal to stop people from tampering with it.

I was pulled at the same point as the OP and it was similar. They waved me on but stopped me just before the exit.

The official told me that it was just an advisory but they had detected that I had been using my mobile phone continuous for 12 minutes on bluetooth prior to the pull over and that although it was still legal they also advised that it was still not good practice and be careful of usage.

I decided to just get out of the way

They vosa gods must have some serious tackle. I can’t even get as far as the trailer parking brake before my bluetooth cuts out!

newmercman:
I don’t believe it

You weren’t meant to  I admitted further on that it was a wind up for another driver who did believe it

My phone is paired with the radio to play music, so their stats would fail there

And how did they know?

I’ve no idea but it was true as I was on the phone to the wife and told her I think I’m about to get pulled and we decided to end the call. They also asked briefly about a text message I’d sent but I assured them I was actually on break at the time and sent it at the same time as pulling away from lay bay - which is true before the pedantics get going

Hhhmmmm

Does this not constitute an unlawful search without a warrant?

No, because as already pointed out several times, by dri-diddly-iver, he was making it up. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

this post has been on for 3 days now. by this time, someone will have commented about it in a rdc gulag, the mere fact that it will now be breaking news all over the rdc uk,then by previous standards, that makes it all guaranteed fact and official, with the dri-diddly- being a plant to have it discussed on here and classified as waffle, when in fact vosa are secretely designing all new bluetooth technology to monitor everything from castle kennedy weighbridge station no matter where you are in the uk.then broadcasting live to whatever vosa car is handy to give you the follow me for a quick interrogation…were all doomed.

Could you get a pull for listening to Convoy via bluetooth :open_mouth:

only if they make an offence of listening to minging music.

What? A driver that doesn’t like Convoy :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
I remember when the film first came out about 1980ish, pre CB in UK days, me and my mate used to overtake each other talking into our flask tops

its a bit stereotyped…though I must have watched the film about 30 times.
I could go from Glasgow to Manchester and still never hear a soul on the cb when they started. I used to get them sent over from eire packed into tv boxes.£20 to buy,and £80 to sell…happy days till they killed it with fm…though its still on the ball for the ferry traffic etc. ive never used uk fm,but am is still very handy everywhere for info.

My son an AA recovery driver he recently did a job and whilst talking to the young lady it turned out she was vostapo she told him the new thing was interfering with the tacho remotely ie Bluetooth ? And muttered bloody Irish can never keep up with them
And no dieseldog999 it’s not in the App Store lol

oops…mine just connects to my earpiece,or the cd Bluetooth, not both,i cant get a 3 way on it.theres a good chance though that whoever makes the tacho might just make it to be Bluetooth capable with the 1 device…heres hoping,

That could be my downfall then.

I have a Jabra bluetooth earpiece. From Argos freely bought, it connects 2 phones at the same time i.e. I can be on 1 phone and also take calls from a second phone (although I have to disconnect 1 before answering the other) it will then accept the other call. Same earpiece different mobile phone.

I have phoned my gaffer up about this and he tells me that he has received notification that he can be informed if he wishes any misdemeanors from any of his drivers for a small ‘subscription’ fee if he wishes. Fortunately he has denied it as it’s a family firm and he doesn’t want the politics etc. He also say’s that it is useless outside a 2 mile limit!

As a guess then, if it’s a known vosa point be careful with your phone etc

That’s ■■■■■■■■! I have a Jabra multiuse like yours so I can connect to works phone and my iPhone at same time.

What exactly does he get notified about??

Well into realms of fantasy land with this one or tell your gaffer he can pay me a small subscription and I’ll tell him whatever he wants!!

Pooey Honk Kong Fooey RDC pooh! Can’t wait till I start this rumour off next time I’m on an RDC [zb] run !

It aint ■■■■■■■■. My gaffer gets notified of any infringments on my tacho. He knows i went a couple of minutes over my 4.5 hours a couple of days ago as he said so. The only way he knows is from being notified as my card has not been out of the tacho since the last service about a month ago.
