So let me get this right.
Vosa can now read your phone data, download your tacho data and IDENTIFY you as being a valid driver all without you getting spoken to?
They must be using face recognition technology too so it might be worth investing in a Groucho face mask

I wonder how long it will take someone to workout that if you link your Bluetooth to your tacho at start of shift, then it wont link elsewhere at the same timeā¦im glad I never flung my old nokia awayā¦plug phone into ciggy lighter.bluetooth connection to tacho, and free from prying vosa eyes? would that not work?
no
how would it not work pray tell, when I link my headset to the phone ,I cant also connect the cd player Bluetooth as its already connected to the headsetā¦1 at a time,so how could you connect 2 bluetooths to the 1 receiver?. if you have your old phone already twinned up to the tacho Bluetooth, then its already in use,and not free to be connected elsewhere?
My phone can connect to more than one device at anyone time.
so do our bluetooth kits , have two phones connected at the same time , personal one and the work one
the maoster:
No you didnāt. You just made that up.
Yes I did Me and another driver was winding one of the lads up in the yard this afternoon about different things and this one just appeared. He said he had āheardā about it before and doesnāt use his phone much at all now especially after listening to radio 2
To be honest he used to text a lot while driving and that is dangerous in my opinion so if itās stopped heim doing that itās a result
I was stopped this week on the M4 they did have a problem as they couldnāt read my digi card due to the fact the computer crashed
He did realise they I used several different vehicles ( due to working agency ) I did tell him this showed him my diary & he took my word for having all my breaks etc let me go as lorry was given a clean bill
Noticed they also had several van in & foreign registered lorry mainly W&D

and if the unit can only connect to one device at a time?
Letās see, youāre driving along, nothing else connected to your tacho via bluetooth, VOSA come along and download your information which is all fine and dandy and you carry on knowing nothing has happened.
OR
You try and get clever, VOSA come along, canāt connect to your tacho so pull you over. They know they were stopped connecting by something you had done. You think they are going to just let you go or give your wagon a good going over?
I use this sena.com/product/intercoms/smh10/ on my motorbike and it can connect up to 3 Bluetooth devices at the same time and works up to 900 metres line of sight.
So if I can do this on my bike then there is every possibility that the DVSA/VOSA could be able to do something similar.
In all honesty, it wouldnāt surprise me if the tachos can be read by an outside source, especially a car that has been following you for a few minutes or parked nearby in a MSA etc. Our rigids use temperature recording equipment made by Transcanā¦upon returning to the depot, all the data is automatically downloaded to a base PC in the office when the truck pulls in to the yardā¦all our newer trucks have the same system and also Telematics, which, afaik, constantly transmits its data to the officeā¦we only have old ā ā ā ā at ours (for the time being) so canāt comment on how accurate this stuff is!!
After watching Citizenfour on channel 4(available on 4od highly recommended) during the week, nothing that Government agencies are capable of would suprise me.

what I was meaning and prob not explain too well was that your Bluetooth can be connected to 2 different sources at the same time, but for example to take a 2nd incoming call you need to disconnect the 1st one, hence if you had a connection between your tacho and your mobile, then the tacho wouldnāt accept another connection until you disconnected the 1st oneā¦this is all assuming that its not all a load of mince made up by the vosa dude to fuel some rdc scaremongering.and who was it on the balcony again? it was my misfortune to be the one that fell off the rear roof as the troops were going in the front window

But funnily though when it comes to the important stuff they are useless, so now they can track a driver on the phone yet cannot keep an eye on murderous terrorists when this government came in it said it wanted to build an export based economy well it would appear we are top of the list for exporting terrorists at the moment

yes but they are still paired at the same time , so you could have your phone paired to the tacho ,but in order to stop another paired device accessing the data, it would mean your phone would need to be downloading the data constantly and not just paired with it

Bluetooth is nowhere near as limited as you appear to think it is. Your mobile phone probably uses Headset Profile (HSP) or Handsfree Profile (HFP), which are just two of over 30 profiles currently defined by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. There are many other profiles, for different applications such as computer mice, audio/video distribution, intercoms etc. Some of them are restricted to single connections, while others are not. Your mobile phone will not connect with a wireless computer mouse, even though both use Bluetooth, nor will it connect with a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. Similarly, even if a tachograph was to use Bluetooth technology, your phone would only be able to connect to it if it used the same Profile - and if that profile was able to make multiple connections simultaneously the connection with your phone would not block another device from connecting. e.g. The satnav I use on my motorbike connects to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously (headset and mobile phone - the latter for both audio and mobile data), and connecting one of the devices does not prevent the other one from connecting.
Donāt even know why the conversation has gone on for so long.
Itās tripe!
None of the tachos have BT capabilities yet so why bother fueling the crap.
New one may or may not who cares as we will not stop them being introduced. And I bet if they were theyād be multiuse and one channel be reserved for the VoSA interrogation on the fly so cant be blocked by another device.
Hope big brother chokes on the data [emoji12]
have to agree with dcgpx - Iāve never heard such tosh in all my life.
the rational explanation is that the driver was stopped as part of an Operation Mermaid then got sent on his way because his company are a green operator.
to find out if youāve been using the phone, on bluetooth or not, they would have to either have the phone in their hand and manually check the call logs or have access to that phones records via the company providing the contract to the company. Thatās a pretty targetted exercise and while we have all met the 4ā6" DVSA officer with a little hitler moustache, the worlds biggest chip on his shoulder and an incredibly ā ā ā ā obsession with the regulations, they siply donāt have the resources, time or inclination to worry about that kind of thing.
Digi head units can only send data wirelessly if they have a remote download kit attached. Even there you are talking about DVSA requiring permission to access the SIM.
Even the police only stop you if they catch you at it. stopping you and trying to do you because you put the phone down a minute before they turned up? balls!
Only time that would happen is if the phone was a contributory factor in an RTI where someone lost their life.
goes without saying, once it comes into operation some clever chappy will workout how to zap itā¦assuming its not a load of toshā¦no doubt il findout the true story next week in an rdc gulag.someone will definitely know in there.

Iāve got two Bluetooth heart rate monitors that connect to my phone, and a bike speed and cadence sensor that I can connect at the same time as the HRM.
