Got stopped by VOSA

Our tachos at work show what mode you are on on the tracker software. Everytime I roll into the yard the tacho unit has a spinning symbol like its uploading something.

I link online radio from my phone to my wagon stereo via Bluetooth, could this confuse them
seriously though using Bluetooth on a call as long as you do not interact directly with the phone or the electronic device is not an offence as far as I am aware unless something has changed?

I wonder how long it will take someone to workout that if you link your Bluetooth to your tacho at start of shift, then it wont link elsewhere at the same time…im glad I never flung my old nokia away…plug phone into ciggy lighter.bluetooth connection to tacho, and free from prying vosa eyes? would that not work?

no

how would it not work pray tell, when I link my headset to the phone ,I cant also connect the cd player Bluetooth as its already connected to the headset…1 at a time,so how could you connect 2 bluetooths to the 1 receiver?. if you have your old phone already twinned up to the tacho Bluetooth, then its already in use,and not free to be connected elsewhere?

My phone can connect to more than one device at anyone time.

Not worried about the tacho, I still use anologe eat my disc sucker ,

oops…mine just connects to my earpiece,or the cd Bluetooth, not both,i cant get a 3 way on it.theres a good chance though that whoever makes the tacho might just make it to be Bluetooth capable with the 1 device…heres hoping,

Doesn’t work like that. The tacho unit if its actually transmitting data will be done via a hidden secure signal. You will need the right software and keys to use and process the data. If what TC is telling us is true, certain tacho units that do broadcast their signals are getting picked up by VOSA. I highly doubt its using bluetooth.

life just gets better and better.another nail in the coffin then

Well, if my TM can see what mode my tacho unit is on anywhere in the country from the comfort of his desk then VOSA will certainly be able to see what you are up to.

no as Vosa don’t have the legal authority for that …

SWEDISH BLUE:
THIS is part of the link I posted

Come 2017/2018 a new generation of tachographs is set to arrive that will be capable of being interrogated by enforcement officials standing by the side of the road as the vehicle travels past to see if an offence is being committed

don’t worry me as I will have my winning ticket by then,[hopefully lol]we can allways dream

VoSA or whatever they might be this week can interrogate tachos to hearts content as far as I’m bothered BUT they start monitoring my personal phone then yes I’ll kick up a fuss as they are way way out of any authority level they may dream they have. Like I said if they say they SAW me then I’ll have that conversation but if they turn round and said as Diddly said that Id been in a call they monitored for 12 min and/or sent a text then id be taking names and a call to my solicitor citing invasion of privacy.

That could be my downfall then.

I have a Jabra bluetooth earpiece. From Argos freely bought, it connects 2 phones at the same time i.e. I can be on 1 phone and also take calls from a second phone (although I have to disconnect 1 before answering the other) it will then accept the other call. Same earpiece different mobile phone.

I have phoned my gaffer up about this and he tells me that he has received notification that he can be informed if he wishes any misdemeanors from any of his drivers for a small ‘subscription’ fee if he wishes. Fortunately he has denied it as it’s a family firm and he doesn’t want the politics etc. He also say’s that it is useless outside a 2 mile limit!

As a guess then, if it’s a known vosa point be careful with your phone etc

Imagine that all this phone/Bluetooth usage is true, the laybys will be full of wagons parked to use the phone, sod it let’s use phone boxes again and block the roads… If you can find a phone box

I was pulled at the same point as the OP and it was similar. They waved me on but stopped me just before the exit.

The official told me that it was just an advisory but they had detected that I had been using my mobile phone continuous for 12 minutes on bluetooth prior to the pull over and that although it was still legal they also advised that it was still not good practice and be careful of usage.

I decided to just get out of the way

No you didn’t. You just made that up.
