Good ideas that disappear?

Lawrence Dunbar:
What about when we used to tie a longish piece of thin cloth on the mirror arms and it kept them reasonably clean, Regards Larry.

Hiya,
And it did do the job a bit Eh’ Larry, also the wife’s Fairy Liquid to make a windscreen
washer, down with the window set the wipers away reach round the screen and send
a stream of water on the glass, with some of the motors you had to stand up to do this
not at all easy if you was giving it big licks.
thanks harry, long retired.

the fairy liquid bottle was very handy for screen washing , didn’t rate the soggy sleeve on a cold morning though .

Anyone remember cutting an inch or so wide strip from an inner tube to make a king sized elastic band to put round the front wheel nuts? Stopped the crud being thrown up on the mirrors apparently.

Lynching.

Yes! Of those clamper-scammers at motorway service areas:

As the coffin was being lowered into the ground at a MSA clamper’s
funeral, a voice from inside screamed,
“I’m not dead, I’m not dead. Let me out!”
The Vicar smiled, leaned forward sucking air through his teeth and muttered,
“Too late pal, I’ve already done the paperwork!”

Not forgetting the ex-wd great coat that just about every driver acquired, in most motors

Two sheets of tin in front of the rad in Winter.

A thick sack or a piece of cardboard to blank half the grill off in the winter, to help keep some heat in the cab, before heaters were standard fitting.
Cheers Dave.

Cardboard didn’t last long in Winter. tin ruled
