What, like this?..0

Thats still happening with trucks today,i think it really smartens the wheels up ,nice detail.

I think it sets it off, too. When it came out of Stevo’s paintshop after changing the livery the front bumper and wheels were black so I spent the following weekend doing the job properly!

Got to be more reliable than the new fangled electric jobbie on my DAF, absolutely rubbish. Says it’s empty when it’s 25% full, and when it’s says 33% full, you can get nearly a full tank in. Depends on star signs, biorhythms and wind direction I think.

Warning signs on lorries " CAUTION AIR BRAKES ".

In the earley days NO BRAKES May have been more appropriate, I could never understand why they put the Air Brake Sign on the rear of wagons because if they ran out of air they had no bloody brakes anyway, Not like present day motors with the spring brake system I ask you ■■, rEGARDS Larry.

Some lorries did have full air brakes that worked with the foot valve but had a mechanical handbrake. We had a 1964 ALBION REVIER with a multipull handbrake and a 1968 SEDDON 13/4/354 again with a mechanical handbrake Admited the mechanical brake would not stop the lorry if the ar had gone down on the footbrake

What were those dangly bits of red and white plastic chain hung from corners of front bumpers for  ive seen a few foreigners still doing it ,turks mainly

They’re to trip up badgers so they fall squarely under the front wheel.
