Fuel thefts

reads torrent of vitriol towards OP who was trying to be helpful, puts head in hands and clicks away in embarrassment

olz69:
Anybody looking in would think you were an ARV traffic cop

Actually though, you are the only one who has thought that

mickyblue:
Whilst speaking to the drivers about the thefts it shocked me with the stories they told me about being gassed, and waking up to having baseball bats to there heads, it shocked me that they still do that job.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
I’m also shocked, very shocked in fact, that you believed them. If 1000 drivers told you that story then the odds are maybe, and stressing the maybe, one of them might, and very much stressing the might, have experienced something like that.

99.9% of the gassing stories are to cover up something such as loss of running money, usually involving drink and/or breasts, or fruit machines. The other reason for the tales are to make the job seem really dangerous and like the Wild West.

I,ve never understood why drivers park in lay bys anyway, no facilities, no proper sleep, and mostly filthy, it should be illegal on H&S grounds, then proper parks would have to be provided. I can just about count on one hand how many lay-bys I,ve overnight parked in 30yrs of driving.

Where do you sleep then?
MSA’s and services are a ■■■■ sight worse and they charge you for it so I cant work out where else you would park unless you stay at home every night.

Places/corners I have used regularly over the years, or Ind estates, retail parks, customers premises, company depots, or anywhere suitable near to a town where I can have a walk, meal, and maybe a pint, or if no alternative a truckstop. MSAs definitely not for the reasons you point out, and lay bys for the reasons I have mentioned. No unfortunately not home everynight by any means.

It did come to my mind that it could be ‘RDC talk’ as i call it

drivers get treated as scum by everyone yet a guy who as come on and offered advice as been treated the same by fellow drivers!!

olz69:
Mickey you are an embarrassment  to any police force, you remind me a bit of the village idiot :unamused:

Some of the crap you come out with is unreal and very funny lol,

mickyblue:
I patrol a little bit of the A47 and the A1 near to Peterborough as it is on my beat area

Anybody looking in would think you were an ARV traffic cop

mickyblue:
I have been doing my bit with parking up in my motor and giving words of advice about where to park in this area and also letting drivers know with whats been going on.

Would that be in your little fiesta on the way home?

Some of the stuff you come out with really worries me if that’s what the cops of the future are made off.
You just come across as a guy with not much street sense, aka Not switched on!!

my opinoin only.

At the end of the day you are a plastic pig and not a police constable,so maybe you would be better off hanging round the local shopping arcades moving on unruly kids

i thought we had moved on from this childish ■■■■, i would expect part of his job is to go out with various divisions maybe that he intends to join, from i know of him i would expect it to be a traffic cop.

looking at the time of the post i expect a few beers had been taken before posting.

Mickyblue, i bet you wished you never turned your computer on. i never realised until i started to drive trucks and talk to drivers just how much mothers milk has been wasted over the years, and why does the government retrain those from institutions and closed zoos to drive trucks.

You & I both Robroy. I too have 30 years behind me & apart from a few select lay bys that are bits of old road (usually with a pub at the end  ) I’ve never stayed in one overnight. It never ceases to amaze me how many park at the side of main roads, mirror folded in because they’re that close to the traffic, when quite often there’s a large, street lit ind.est. or similar the other side of the hedge,or if they’d gone up the previous slip road there’d have been a piece of old road with quiet parking or similar. Still, each to their own,bur personally I like a good nights sleep away from the traffic where I can leave my roof & widow open all night without having to wear ear plugs.
& as for the attacks on Mickeyblue, embarrasing, both for trucknet members & for proffesional drivers, well done mb & for repeatedly defending yourself too.

Q, What goes CLIP CLOP, CLIP CLOP, BANG BANG, CLIP CLOP, CLIP CLOP…

Strewth, little wonder drivers are still viewed with suspicion and contempt by most of the public, i can’t believe what i’ve read above.

The OP tried to offer a bit of friendly advice from his own patch and has been spoken to in exactly the manner that those who have been disrespectful would be complaining about.

MickyBlue is made of better stuff than me i’d have told the miseries to stick it and cleared off ages ago, shouldn’t some of them be somewhere secure?

Some common sense is needed for parking for fuel and load and personal security, many drivers won’t have thought of the usefulness of gay cruisers in the security issue, if you were a fuel thief you’d be wondering if the next slowly cruising car that came by might just happen to be an ARU with two serious looking coppers aboard having a poke nose about whilst things are quiet in the late hours and buzz off somewhere with no slowly passing traffic.

The few times i’ve left the truck unattended in my night out days i tried to park it with the fuel tank next to a busy road, if a fuel thief gets wiped out by a passing truck it would only require a quick steam clean to remove the spatters and no loss to anyone.

Well look…It’s very simple. And for all the police bashing knob heads here. Ignore the advice if you want. Say bye to your fuel and goods. Duh!!! :unamused:

I knew the ‘Bashers’ would come out of the wood work. I also knew some would use it to ‘have a go at the police’.

As you both stated it was only advise, and till this day i still witness trucks filling up and then park up for the night. I do go across and have words with them and advise them about the area, but it is down to driving hours at the end of the day and some are right on the limit.

It won’t get sorted straight away and things like this take time but i did get one quote from a lorry driver though ‘First time in 20 years i have been told information by the police about where i park, thanks big fella. If i am up this way again i will park further down the road’

Also the other night i spoke to a Eddie Stobart driver who was driving ‘Debby’ ( not literally ) had a laugh and a bit of banter with him. He states there will be another Eddie Stobart program coming on soon round about Xmas time and it will be the Xmas special  . The cheeky sod said i was one of those Eddie spotters :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:   Let’s just say, we had a right laugh

any wonder drivers are looked upon as lowlife?

so here we have a pcso come here and offer advice on where its safe to park and free yet all he gets from the majority is slack. I wonder how different this would be if a trucker had posted it and how people would properly say oh thanks mate will avoid that… You who winge about it will be the first ones on here moaning that you derv has been nicked and how to avoid this layby yet it has already been pointed out… Even if you are old skool and think you know it all advice on safe places to park is still learning something… and if you no best then go park get ur derv nicked and see who will be sat back with a smug grin on his face then…

This site is used by the Gay community,

do you mean a layby where all the perverts go and loiter around your lorry coz you have the interior light on and that pull up right behind you flashing there light then pull up along side you weighting then decide to pull up right in front of you honking there horn
There are plenty of Gay laybuys like this in Northamptonshire

Man i give up

man just accept we are lorry drivers
we are treated as less than anyone else
if you really cared you would screw the [zb] that screw us
you would try and protect us
you would lobby towns to provide a safe parking for us
nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh just ■■■■■■■■ is all you lot are
screw us drivers
well [zb] you as well
waiting for the righteous bros to amend my words
:unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I come from a family of drivers and i am also fully aware with how drivers get treated. I think you need to sit back and chill out a bit

40 years on the road, think thats long enough to chill.
now as a young pup , you need to RESPECT the older generation as to how we are treated.
long term proverb
"when you have done what i have done,
when you have been through what i have been through
when you have seen what i have seen
when you have heard what i have heard
WHEN YOU HAVE LOST SO MANY FRIENDS/DRIVERS that i have lost
THEN AND ONLY THEN CAN YOU TELL ME TO CHILL OUT
DON’T BE SO IMPERTINENT.
HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR US OLD ONES.

With an attitude like that it’s no wonder you’re getting no respect. Respect is earnt and lost. Not that I thought mickyblue was disrespectful, you needed telling to chill out.

Stevie

Park anywhere between Huntingdon and Grantham on the A1 and it’s asking for trouble. One driver near Colsterworth had a gun pulled on him a few years back for his load of white goods.
The local paper almost has a regular spot regarding HGV thefts on the A1, whilst the Truckers Beware trailer even turns up at Kate’s Cabin and Stibbington, so they can’t be classed as safe.
Luckily I am a Lincolnshire local so would never have to leave a lorry along there, but would never want to either.
At least the NIMBYS in Stamford got the lorry park closed a few years ago, all they complain about now is the football ground noise (I operate the PA system!)

To be fair to Cambridgeshire Constabulary they are trying. My boss in my other job was stopped last Saturday on the A1 near Haddon at 2am as he was driving an older white van…full of disco equipment!

Police are overstretched and underfunded (like every infrastructure in this country) and are doing the best they can. Being in the force round Peterborough probably means increased life assurances premiums anyway as most countries mafias have taken up residence there!

Yes I do know a lot of the police in this area and have met MB before but I am not biased, I dislike that numpty who struts up and down the M6 as much as anyone else!

I patrol that area as well

Mickyblue I reckon I,ve got you sussed :bulb: I,ve just noticed your new avatar :sunglasses: … You just like winding up these highly strung truckers and you lurrvve the abuse it brings … Go on admit it
