Better a fridge than pratts who have to have their reversing bleepers on any time of day or night.WHY?
Or the pratts who do trailer swaps in the night and seem to think they have to shout at each other for some reason only known to them.

Could be worse than a bleeper, ‘beep caution this vehicle is reversing…beep caution this vehicle is reversing’!!

Oh hell yeah
The complete [zb] of a Ceva driver at Keele comes to mind. Right next to the sleeping drivers, door open, radio blaring, yelling to his mate and then tops it off with a rev the nuts off it roar away beeping the horn finale

Yes, can’t understand that. I was parked up one evening on a quiet industrial estate in Hemel Hempstead. I wasn’t asleep, I had only been parked up for five minutes but a BP tanker came past me and he obviously thought I was asleep because he blasted his horn as he drove past me.
There was absolutely no reason whatsoever that he could have sounded his horn, other than that he thought I was asleep and it might wake me up.
The whole reason that I tend to park on quiet industrial estates rather than in truckstops is that I consider the vast majority of lorry drivers to be scum.

don`t tell me you when to the regular Thursday night Grab a Granny at the Stockyard
When you are parked here by the exit gate, you can flash your lights at the granny’s leaving, they will probably flash you back
But a fridge or generator driver here is parked far enough away from the building to make as much noise as he wants.

Yes, you are probably right, the few who are stick in the mind far more than the ones who aren’t.

15+ years of fridge work behind me so I think I may just be qualified to answer this .
If you are prepared to pay the cost of a refused load due to the temperature being off I will gladly turn my fridge off at night . If not - tough luck . And while we are on the point why are the fridge drivers the problem - why can’t you find a spot away from the fridge?- they aren’t exactly hard to spot. I will do my best to park out of the way but I’m sorry if there are no other parking spaces I will be your next door neighbour for the night.
Personally I turn my fridge to constant running at night - it cuts out the noise of just about everything else and I get a great nights sleep.
Just one last point about turning fridges off on people - some companies have cameras on the fridges to catch this kind of thing
■■■■■■■■ and ■■■■■■■■, its comments like this from fridge drivers that make me shake my head in despair.
the poster has stated he was parked up first and there is a notice stating for fridges to park up away from other drivers and there was space to do this NOW WHICH zbING PART DONT YOU UNDERSTAND
ive had it, now i understand fridges have to park somewhere but hey how about about a bit of consideration to other road users, ive had it in the services a fridge parked next to me fridge going full pelt while i was in bed asleep at 4am in the services while he went to the garage for a packet of cigs
plenty of space elsewhere.
ive been a fridge driver and no matter what my first always thinking is where can i park out of the way.
last night i stopped at colsterworth for some dinner, when i came out stobarts was parked with his parking ticket in the window and curtains pulled, next to him was a lorry with the engine running whats the point the stobarts fella is proberly asleep.
i parked on a job a few weeks ago in france, there i was fast asleep and the fella next to me decided he wanted to run his engine for 20 mins
WHYYYYYYYYYYYY it was a brand new volvo, he soon understood the international language for turn that zbing engine off

So live with it maybe he’d used his micro or whatever and was giving her a bit of a kick before bed. If you can’t cope with the noise of the road stay at home or get a sleeping tablet.
Scannyfanny:
As for switching another driver’s fridge off, it’s not a good idea; most fridge drivers sleep lightly and if the fridge goes off they wake up. Odds on the driver who’s switched it off is either parked on your immediate left or right. Naturally, it’s easy enough to return the favour with a quietly-pulled fifth wheel handle, nicked number plate, removed electrics suzy, fifth wheel-greased door handle to name a few of the many options for pay-back.
or a whack round the knuckles / head with a winding handle .
Plain and simple if you dont like it park somewhere else - pick a nice layby on the side of a dual carriageway - it’s where you expect a fridge driver to park . Nobody forces you to use a lorry park .
When I was tramping I just wore earplugs and put the alarm above the pillow…sorted.
And if you’re that sensitive to noise, then drive into a parking space rather than reverse in when possible.
The biggest cause of noise is usually the individuals who choose to do a changeover in the middle of the park or those who after taking their break deem it necessary to run their engine for five minutes before they leave and five minutes after they arrive.
If the the fridge is run on continuous the noise soon becomes background the majority of reefer drivers are considerate myself included, get some good quality ear plugs and chill out.
It werent a white Daf XF with frilly curtains and lots of lights on pulling a white fridge with blue lettering were it?
I had a reefer park next to me last night for his 45 min brake when I was in my pit just got out and asked if he could park with the other reefers he said sorry and moved lucky there was lots of room.
I know its not possible for them to park out the way but if I see a spot were I wont get desturbed Ill take it.
your moaning about having to sleep next to a fridge on the odd night, how do you think the fridge drivers feel they have to sleep with it all the time and then to cap it all they have to listen to moaning drivers moaning about the noise they have to sleep next to all the time.
two words EAR PLUGS (ohh have these been mentioned whoops) invest in some then you can whip them out and dust them off when a fridge parks next to you.

^ This …I always grab a handful when I deliver to factorys allways on the wall look’s like a bubble gum machine. Does the Job
all i ask for is consideration, the same consideration that costs nothing and i try to give everyone else.
last sunday,
monday i was catching the ferry from portsmouth at 8am, so sunday i left leeds at 1800 got to pompey at 00.30 and parked for the night actually at the front of the ferry lane first in the queue. what i would think was a few hours later a fridge came and parked right next to me with the fridge going full pelt, it was not a problem at all as he had no choice and it didnt bother me as he was also in the queue.
the problem is if there is a specific area for a certain type of vehicle then why dosent the certain type of vehicle use it.

Well, that’s where you are wrong, our company insist on us using truckstops empty or loaded due to insurance reasons, that’s the whole point…
I’ll throw another theory into the hat here…
I’m a fridge driver at the moment, and I have to say the majority of my colleagues are morons. They probably just don’t have the gumption to realise it’s inconsiderate to park next to non fridge drivers because they only think of themselves. One guy at our place has done the same run every week for 23 years and that’s because he is a cabbage and couldn’t manage anything else.
Personally, I hardly ever have goods on when I need to park up but if I do, then it’s away from everyone else. If it’s a 45 minute break, I always turn the fridge off. If you park near me voluntarily, then I won’t respect your complaints about the noise.
To complain about fridge lorries is as hypocritical as these “lorry watch” schemes. You want fresh food to buy from Tesco every week but you don’t want to see/hear the lorry that brought it all there.
