Truckulent:
It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility this whole thing was caused by someone seeing a police vehicle or some other stickered up vehicle and panicing at the speed they were doing and then braking hard and suddenly. It happens a lot on the roads - thanks to the authorities obsession with issuing speeding tickets, people stare at the speedo and automatically slam on the anchors if they see a patrol car or anything that looks like one. That, coupled with the fact that people do not have a clue at what a safe following distance is, especially not in adverse weather makes a recipe for disaster.
Mind you, I’d bet they’d never say so in any investigation. A tragic accident but one in which I will be very suprised if human error was not the culprit.
I’m not sure we truck drivers can take such a holier than thou view. In the last week while in the car, I have experienced at least 10 truck drivers following me with about 5ft between them and me.

Why no respect?
Because YOU decided nobody should comment on this thread anymore, think you’ll see he’s showing respect with the last line of his post.
It seems to me the accident was caused to some extent by the firework display, bad weather and human error to kick start a deadly chain reaction.
Or then again it could all been JDs fault with his insensitive attitude!
I think We need a new thread just to
kick him.

This is Britain and in Britain we point fingers and blame people WITHOUT having facts, nothing new there

this is what is wrong with this forum and JD,s comment and the first one that comes to his defence is a mod
As I was the only mod who had posted at this point in the thread I assume you are referring to me.
I put “I don’t personally agree with his comments” and left a dozen or more personal attacks against the poster in question in place and somehow you think I was defending him?

Err ok? Your input might well be missed.Seeya.
Huh! I very much doubt if him or his ilk will be missed at all…
There are at least 7 poor souls who are no more. All their families and everyone involved in this terrible accident now have to try and get through the next day and the day after and the day after that, and all you (browncow2) can do, is come on here spouting your crap. If you don’t like it. leave! It IS that simple!!
Could we please stop trying to blame someone/anyone/everyone and think of all those who have lost their lives?
We don’t know what happened yet. Sadly, we will probably never know exactly. But, all those vehicles do not just crash. Something is the cause. I can’t believe all those vehicles all had some sort of mechanical failure all at once.
Each day on the motorways up and down the country drivers tailgate, drive aggresively and put themselves and others at risk of something like this happening. They rubber neck, use their phones etc and believe they are immortal. Then when a tragedy such as this occurs they are the first to be the sympathetic ones.
I’m afraid a lack of respect for one another is a common factor on the roads today. What a terrible and sad way we have been reminded of it with these events.
imho and i believe most will agree hopefully even JD, that once that comment had been posted it should have been deleted by either mods or site admin, wether you personally agree with his comments is not the point! the point was the comment was still there until JD removed it himself!!..
the defense of him was allowing the comment to stay put even though you yourself admit he was being ripped to shreads…
a friend of mine, also a trucker even copied and pasted this comment onto facebook for me to see as he himself was disgusted at the comment!
I feel for the families involved but fact remains that one of those drivers killed/injured may still turn out to be a member on here, or maybe a relative of a member…

I totally agree with you. Its embarrassing thinking someone close to the people killed could read that and tar us all on this website with the same brush.

If they read the whole thread I don’t think there is any risk whatsoever of us all being tarred with the same brush.
