FLM And Abusive Language

And how do all you people know that this bloke didn’t have an awful childhood, full of abuse from his parents and then went on to get bullied at school. Well murderers, rapists etc get away with it, why shouldn’t a flm.

Yeah, never considered that

Maybe he should get a “time out” :unamused:

He may also have ADHD, so allowances need to be made :open_mouth:

I had ADHD myself… for about 30secs, then I got a clip round the ear off the old man and ■■■■ me, I was cured :sunglasses:

The vast bulk of modern phones can now record.
Just make out you are texting etc & record just what this idiot is doing.
Send a copy to his boss.

Ahhh is it Fleet Line Manager?

Well yeah, just have a word first and say quietly people ain’t happy with his manner & then if that don’t get you anywhere either ignore it or escalate it.

I had something similar, not too rude but just arsey, I looked the gaffer in the eye & just said cold, don’t ever talk to me like that again & he didn’t. Sometimes simple is best.

Having worked in the office and had loads of verbal from drivers including ‘shop floor’ language - fair enough, they are moaning/venting their frustration at the uniform, not me, so I let it go.

On the odd occasion, when the situation has developed into a ‘healthy debate’ into the rights and wrongs of the matter, I’ve had the accusation thrown at me about using ‘shop floor’ language, when I didn’t ‘start’ using it  :open_mouth: :exclamation: Can’t have it both ways.

Of course, a person in charge should approach it like a policeman and rise above it, but we are all human.

Usually after such an exchange, there’s a handshake and an understood outcome, even if both parties aren’t too happy with it.

I never get personal with folk about the job, but I’ve noticed now that most folk under 30-ish can’t handle an old-school rollicking (such as I had when starting out) - they’ve come through an education system where they are beyond reproach.

Going outwith the chain of command is risky depends if this fella has friends high up, this has happened once at my depot. Where a driver asked for a meeting with the northern logistics TM bold as brass said the manager we have at the moment is destroying the depot he was, but still. He never got sacked he ended up walking about 3 months down the line. Once that sort of palava starts there is only one outcome someone will walk.

Sounds like you work for a blue chiper ‘‘code of conduct’’ thats the sort of pish we have. And they take it deadly serious if there is witnesses, no gossip or hearsay then take it higher see whats happens.

In my shoes i wouldn’t take anything i was brought up not to fear bullys, never have and nevr will. I would give as good as i got and make sure i was never in a room alone with him again always have a witness to whatever is said. Because managers are devious little ■■■■■■■.

Its all well and good saying crack him but that is instant dismal, even raising your hands to defend yourself will most likley get you the sack.

FFS sake throw a few Fs and Cs back. Calling the police is patetic and sums up whats wrong with this country

I work forvan old school boss who will throw a few f bombs about when things go wrong and will accept a few thrown back but then its done.
Much rather that than all smiles then recive a memo for a disaplinary hearing with next weeks payslip.

You poor soul!!!

FFS man (maybe?)

Sticks and stones, just ignore him. Or the other way is have a go at him verbally every time you see him and see how he likes it.

FLM–(zb) Loud Mouth. Ignore is the best option-if you have a go back at him,he’ll probably make life difficult by citing insubordination, undermining his ‘authority’ or some other twaddle.

Maybe it’s time to invest!

So rooster rang the police because of someone swearing?
If it wasn’t for the fact that he phoned the police i wouldn’t be thinking Rooster has blown the whole thing out of proportion.
This FLM (whatever that is) may well just swear as he talks, Just like a bunch of blokes in the vaults.

If however i’ve got the wrong end of the stick and what rooster is saying isn’t OTT, Then i’d have a quiet word with the bloke and explain that it may happen once and once only, I wouldn’t give him another warning, I would do something quite nasty.
I believe if someone is big enough to give abuse, Then he should be man enough to take some.

two choices really, ignore him, he obviously feels unworthy and has an inferiority complex, or throw the words back, and if he moans, tell him if he speaks to you like ■■■■, why shouldn’t you speak to him the same way?

Driver-Once-More:
First Line Manager

Its the term used at DHL for the shift manager…

Phone call to the head of HR will do the trick ,FFS don’t chin him - that’s only stooping to his level ( no matter how tempting that may be !)

Same here it’s how it should be I wouldn’t want it any other way.

This has come up on here several times before (I can’t be arsed to search for relevant threads), what I would like to hear are stories where someone has ending up chinning someone and got away with it  :open_mouth:

Anyone care to oblige??
