First steps...

Hopefully so! I feel like I’m at the level where I could take and pass the test, it’s all down to how I do on the day tomorrow now! Hopefully with it being so early I won’t have time to think too much about it or be nervous

Good luck for tomorrow.

Sounds like you have it sussed.

Just keep nerves in check and you will have a blue certificate this time tomorrow.

Thanks - fingers crossed

Well!!!

:grimacing: :grimacing: PASSED!!! :grimacing: :grimacing:

Four minors - one for mirrors, one for not getting my foot down quick enough, one for an indicator cancelling itself as I was pulling in to park and another I can’t remember (don’t have the sheet on me now)

Test went really well. I wasn’t too nervous, and the examiner was a good bloke. Had a minor blip in the drive to test station as I clipped a kerb at a roundabout - the first time I’d touched a kerb in the whole 3 days of training! Treated it as a wake-up call and a reminder not to get complacent and it worked!

Thanks to Paul at Elmet Driver Training for his help and guidance getting me through at the first attempt. As soon as my licence comes back I’m going for C+E, and then the real fun starts of looking for work…

BOOM!!! Get in there mate - congratubloodylations Kev. I had a good feeling for you, good attitute etc etc.

Fantastic news, brilliant!!!

Cheers, I’m made up. Can’t wait to get on with C+E training now!

Happy days mate, if the tester kept your license, you’ll have it back in about a week - bring on the C+E
I think you may be surprised at how manoeuvrable the artics are Kev.

yeah I asked him to send it off. my trainer said it could be up to 3 weeks, hope it’s sooner though. want to crack on while I’m still in the right frame of mind for training and tests!

Absolutely Kev, strike while iron’s hot and all that!!

Well Done. A great result.

Bring on the CE

Well done on the pass.

Good luck with the C+E

Cheers

Well done young Challo, well you couldn’t really go home and tell the old man you had failed could you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha! He couldn’t believe it. I’d not told them I was doing my training so it was a proper shock!

If you see Jock tell him Mike Darley has joined facebook, wonders will never cease.

Quick update on what’s going on with me. Finally got my licence back from DVLA yesterday, two weeks after passing Cat C, and I’ve got my C+E booked for 16/17/18th April - four hours per day from 8am-1200 on the first two days, followed by test at 8.30am on the 18th. Can’t wait to get stuck into it while the previous training is still fresh in my mind!

The other thing is that I’ve got a day’s induction next Friday as outlined here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=96932

The phone conversation we had sounded pretty positive about it leading to a full-time job, after a three-month trial, so I’m hoping something good comes from it. The other good news is that I approached my current employer about taking voluntary redundancy and they’ve made me an offer.

I’ve been here nine years (office work) but we’ve lost a fair bit of work over the past 18 months and they’ve looking to cut staff numbers and costs, so it might be perfect timing for me to get out with some cash in my pocket - enough to see us through a good few months if I don’t find a job straight away - and at least I’ll be free from the hassle of working a notice period etc. Can’t see me getting a better chance to be paid to leave a job I’m fed up with to pursue the driving, and it should also tie in nicely with the timing of me taking my C+E, so hopefully if I pass that I’ll really be able to step up the job hunt!

Went to see the place about my induction this morning. They’ve taken a copy of my licence and are going to ring me on Thursday to let me know what time I need to be in and where I’ll be going etc once they’ve sorted out their planning. Had a ride to the yard yesterday as it was shut and they have four or five 2008 Volvo FLs and FEs with sleeper cabs. I was told today that they cover the whole of the north of England, across to Liverpool from east Yorkshire, Scotland, and as far down as Peterborough and Huntingdon. WIll have a good chat with the driver on Friday to find out what the job’s like in terms of the work, money and nights out etc.

Had the call about tomorrow’s induction - 4.30am start, going to Kings Lynn.

Looks like the driver I’m going with will get us there, and I’ll be driving back.

Nervous now! :open_mouth:

You’ll be fine.

Take it easy. Don’t rush things.

Remember all your training and enjoy it
