It was the June 6 th , not a dark moon

I was following instructions from the AA Lancashire map

I stopped at the house after the bridge to ask the way ,the man was laughing :open_mouth:

Which end did you go in? The road is physically impassable in a truck after Kitchen’s farm if you went in Bashall end. The tree branches either side are at least an inch thick unless they’ve had a massive purge. They’re not thin leafy bits that just brush out of the way. There’s no way you’d get as far as the stone bridge from Bashall end unless it’s since been cut back. We used to do Hartley’s farm just north of Bashall then go up to Cow Ark from there and it was a royal pain in the arse having to go all the way back to Waddy to come all the way back to Bashall down Twitter Lane.

Early starts on Sunday are strictly not happening

I don’t do overtime due to time & 1/4 for all overtime rates cheers Ray

Another nice drive for me is the a7 from my increasing village gorebridge down to Carlisle  cheers Ray

Katanga

Always liked the a628 for some reason, scenery ,test of skills type of thing ,plus it was my ‘baptism of fire’ when first starting out in the mists of time so i guess it’s lodged into the psychic architecture :sunglasses:  There’s better roads out there for sure but this landscape always delivered on the eye-candy stakes when going from one ugly place (Barnsley) to the even uglier, sprawling dystopia of (Manchester) but not before taking in the delightful charms of Tintwistle,Glossop and Mottram, especially in summer.

A9 North of Perth
A95 on the whiskey trail.

A85 across to Oban
A83 to Campbeltown.

A68 through Jedburgh is nice as well.

Came up through waddington turned left in to cross lane followed to the very end ,then loaded a dozer at focus training in the farm yard by the brashall brook then went out the other way past the Red pump

A171 Nunthorpe to Scarborough over the North York moors gets my vote.

Any road that takes me back to the yard on my last day

What the learnad gentleman is trying to say is, A plobber can’t get down there, so by his reckoning nobody can, even tho you have photographic proof, doesn’t mean you did it. The fairies guided you,…

One of our farmer customers from Durham had the grazing rights on a large area of moorland in the Upper Coquet Valley, Northumberland and we would go two or three times a year either to take stock up or bring it back down. It was up through Rothbury, onto Flotterton, through Sharperton and Harbottle and on to Barrowburn, which at the time consisted of one house and some cattle pens. Some stunning scenery especially in Spring. Tyneside

Been all over Europe and on many amazing roads but my favourite in a truck? The A5 though North Wales. Almost never used the A55 when A5 was an option. Know it like back of my hand. Though I had to relearn it when I went from having a 440 under me to a 750! Had a couple of seat of pants moments

The A5 is a great road I drove it a few times - some parts are not for the faint hearted but some great scenery used to do a butchers shop in Bala always liked that run .

A47 between Leicester and Wansford and been a long while since been over but is it the A123 between Irun and Pamplona the old road before the tunnel half way up

As far as I know you can still avoid the tunnel and go over the top on the N121(?) between Irun and Pamplona,if you feel like it.
I used to use it a lot but less so now because of the 5 tolls(20€ ish)in France.Toll free via Somport.

N121 ? from Pamplona. First time I drove that road was downhill with a fully loaded step frame on small wheels…got more than a little warm. Cracking road though, as is the N135 that goes a bit higher before dropping down to St Jean Pied De Port. That is more densely wooded so the views are more restricted.
The A75 Beziers to Clermont Ferrand gets a vote from me.

Through Valais in Switzerland from Martigny and over the Simplon.
The Dalmatian coast road from Trieste to Dubrovnik.
Lots more but those are special.

As a native of that region, have you ever traversed the ‘Horseshoe-Pass’ perchance? I found myself on that road,en-route from,l think (Llangollen) a couple of years ago and found it a tad heavy going, not ideal in winter, but l was informed by the haulage firm.where l was collecting some recycled stuff from nearby…‘bloody hell,we don’t go that way’…guffaw, chortle type of thing. Not advisable in heavy snow l imagine but I’ve seen considerably worse .Always intrigued me tbh.Splendid scenery nonetheless.
