Three large creases on the side sheeting Dennis tut tut .
Just hang about “Renegade”!!! I’ve switched the iron on and I’ll be across the yard from my office in a minute,if you point out the offending creases that is!! Dennis.
Change your glasses Dennis, two in front of the first axle on the trailer, and one behind the second, plus a small one above that 7.5/out of 10.
Cheers Dave.
Look Dave, you “tipper driver”, those big folds are main drainage channels for rain and are specially formed to do the job! Ask any of the Star men on the thread that can sheet and rope and they will confirm my explanation,in even more graphic detail than me if they’ve had a dram or two or three!! Dennis.

My old man drove flatbeds for over forty years Dennis.Drainage channels, the wind would blow the rain off up where you were based .
Cheers Dave.

Blow off whilst travelling Dennis, besides less rain in the smoke.
Cheers Dave.
Dave the Renegade:
Nearly as good as yours Dennis.
Substantial “coiler” that Dave,I wonder if it was an M & G or an AHP ? any ideas? Dennis.PS I won’t waste my breath commenting on the heap thats coupled up to it!!
hiya,
All fully qualified R & S men formed drainage channels in the side sheeting to faciliate rain run off but only on the side facing the office, had to stay sweet with the management, tother side did’nt matter they could’nt see that and you could get away with making that as tight as a drum skin, but myself having a “could’nt care less” attitude used to hold two fingers aloft and do both sides skin tight. Is that a trumpet i can hear, silly me i’ts me blowing mine again.
thanks harry long retired.

Not sure Dennis. Sharples ran quite a few on coil’s in the 50’s through to the 70’s.They ran Foden’s for over 40 years.
Cheers Dave.
The Sharples coiler could be a Duramin - all alloy . – they did run a few of them, which were very light.
regards - Hywel.
Thanks for that Hywel,as I was never into coilers an all Ali one is sure different!!! I did once buy half a dozen Keltrail coilers that were little used and were on ROR Air,got them at the right price and put Graham curtainsider bodies on them. They stood me in at half the cost of a new trailer and while not in the Bo-Alloy leauge they did a reasonable job! Cheers Dennis.
GS OVERLAND:
Here is an old one, the firm is still running. This was my first truck on my first driving job.
and this was my second truck.
Its all very boring now, white trucks everywhere, no character…
Then a few years later I was running with this well known livery.
GS
I’ve got to take issue with you here “GS” as IMO there’s nothing class about these two CT motors as apart from being [zb] up,the sheets look crap and as for that trailer behind the Marathon!!! it looks like it was built by a Blacksmith!,12 wheels on the trailer----I bet it laid some rubber down on every roundabout it went round! Sorry but thats my opinion right or wrong.Cheers Bewick.
Keep the photos coming Gavin , some people like to see pictures of real working lorries not just the ones that were lined up for a photo shoot .
