im on it i use it to catch up with friends that live far away same with old school mates and occasional business use advertising items etc

I use it for two things.

  1. A lot of my genuine friends are scattered all over the country where I’ve been pretty mobile myself over the years, so it’s a good way of keeping up.

  2. My “second job” involves talking to people within the industry and getting the “sharp end” stories, so FBook is handy for building the driver side of my contact list and being able to get hold of them when we’re all down the road.

No not for me, don’t like the idea, don’t see the sense of it.
I find the whole thing of e-mail, Facebook, my space, Twitter, etc. turning in to a virtual world.
People don’t speak with each other, but text, tweet or face book (is that the term?) with each other.
People claim that they have hundreds of friends, are they friends? Or are they people you know, or maybe just a name with no face?
Are these pictures real? Or are they as virtual as whole Facebook is?
It’s quite scary, can you really make the split between fiction and fact?
Writing, texting, e-mail etc. Doesn’t show emotion, so any interpretation can be made and can put the good meaning of the sender in a bad message for the receiver.

The other reason, would you leave your personal details and photos lying on the street? Or put it up on a billboard for everybody to see? That is what Facebook is in my opinion, maybe I’m old fashioned or naive, maybe plain stupid put that is how I see it.

Fine if you enjoy it no prob with me, but you wouldn’t find me on it in a hundred years.

Yes i am on it. I dont post up much on there though, i dont always have interesting stuff to say. I do read through some of the posts on there most days though. It kills some time and besides some of the crap some boring people put on, some of the stuff can be quite funny to read.

I mainly use it for racing results, lots of the riders families use it to promote the sport and themselves.

I’m on it, it’s a great way of keeping up with friends and people I’ve worked with over the years many who live in various parts of Europe.

I’m on it but dont use it much… Those people i grew up with that i dont see anymore its nice to see how they are getting on and chatting with friends who have moved away.

Don’t like social network sites , to get in touch with family or freinds I pick up the phone :smiley: or call in when I’m passing for a cuppa :wink: :smiley:

im on it and have been for about 3 years, ive got friends on there not much family most are trucknetters and people i know from " down the road ", i would say i know personally about 85% and the rest are just friends of here that like wind each other up.

I am on facebook and twitter but i dont understand twitter :confused: I use facebook to keep in contact with friends and family and play games like bejewled and cityville :unamused: sad i know, but thats life as we now know it :smiley:

i’m on it, and i think i’m quite badly addicted :open_mouth: i am in touch with old school friends and i have a few friends from here as well. i’m not worried about any security issues, and if i was, i can restrict who can see my profile.

Yes coffeeholic there is loads of different game linked to facebook :smiley: and you can play against your facebook friends as well :wink: i believe you can only play games from a laptop or homebase computer not a mobile phone :confused: Have fun and take care :smiley:

I’m on Facebook, have been for a few years now, in fact I’m quite addicted to it. My partner gets so frustrated with me, especially now I’ve got it on my iPhone.

Yes, I use it pretty much exactly in the manner you describe. It’s a very handy way to keep in touch with friends and family who are spread out all over. Posting a status update feels less intrusive than cc’ing an email to half a dozen people, plus FB does give a small possibility of making other friends online.

I’m not quite sure about the distinction between “Facebook friends” and “Real friends”. I’ve met three or four people online over the years I’ve been using the internet, on FB and forums like this one, and they have always been people I would have been friends with anyway had we met in person first.
