Facebook- are you on it?

Trucker-Lass22:
Lol i know i get I.D alot but do i really look that young?

You do, if I ever saw you out working, I’d probably say something like “Is your Dad going to be long, his truck’s in the way?”

But being serious, fair play for going for it,being both young and female. In actual fact, I wasn’t much older when I started myself, it seems to have gone from being a young person’s job to being a late middle-aged person’s job, and I seem to have followed the average age demographic all the way.

There should be more young people doing it, because what will happen when we all retire? And there should be more women doing it because we would all be treated with more respect if there were. There should also be more blacks and Asians doing it because if there were, then we would be on £50,000 a year like tube train drivers instead of being treated like a lump of dog ■■■ on the bottom of a goods-in clerk’s shoe.

I hear you brother! VIVE LA REVOLUTION!

Although the compulsory retirement age is great for some, I think it’s having an adverse effect on getting the young off their arses. We have 30odd drivers and have five past “retiring”, and a good half a dozen all between 60-64. Only two (one is my Dad) are actually wanting to finish at 65, and of the five above 65, three are off sick.
No offence to the senior drivers, but if the jobs are being vacated for the young to take up.

i just sold 2 cars on facebook so im happy to be on there

its not something that im interested in, but each to there own

im on it mainly to post pics of the cars progression though. easier to upload from mobile and share rather than using photobucket then posting to the club forum

i do keep in touch with people on it too oddly enough. i rarely give my number to anyone who i am not connected to in a professional capacity so facebook is ideal for keeping in touch without invading my personal time

I am now on facebook and its ok.

I use it often mainly talk about football with mates and post pics. Had bebo too back in the day

Yep I have face book keep in touch with some of my mates & also the kids

Haha i remember bebo

Haha Bebo was big it was bigger then Facebook then it kind of just died and all us young ones (back then) went to Facebook. MySpace was where it all began, then Bebo went to another level, and then Facebook did too.

Still look at my old Bebo about once a year or so brings back memories quality stuff

Friends reunited now that’s a blast from the past. Does anyone still go on it? I get emails from them but forgot my password.

I forgot mine too. Met my ex girlfriend on there after splitting with my kids Mother. I married her but learnt a valuable lesson. NEVER GO BACK! Divorce came through this morning.

The couple who set it up sold it for £175 million, and now it’s worth £5.2 million.

Nice to hear the divorce came through

Never had Bebo & not used friend reunited in a long time not sure what my pass word is

As far as I know Bebo was bigger in Scotland at 1st until they all moved onto Facebook ( know this my kids have mates in the Highlands & they were on Bebo more then facebook )

I’m on it, good way to see what family and friends are doing. Theres alot of people I don’t get to see these days so its nice to see a picture of them or to have a chat with an old school friend or to see a picture of … etc etc.

Good way to share experiences/photo’s/activites etc etc. There seems to be alot of crap going round though and alot of people who abuse it, but I keep my friend list to people who I actually know and have talked to/trust and I’ve never had a problem. A good fiddle with the privacy settings can help things stay private etc aswell. Just a case of knowing how to use it.

Any mention of Facebook always seems to attract a lot of hostile posts so I wondered what proportion of TruckNet users have an active Facebook account.

For the record, I do, although I use it almost entirely as a way of sharing information, photos etc with people I know in real life, mainly my family. Of around 40 Facebook friends, I know all but about four or five in real life. (for those who do not use it, adding somebody as a Facebook friend means you can see their pics and messages and vice versa)

Apart from that, I play Scrabble on it, again largely with people I know. I personally find it useful.

So are you on it, and if so what use do you make of it? If you are are hostile towards it, would you care to expostulate your thesis?

I have a Facebook account but only use it so I can see the things that are sometimes posted on here and other forums I’m a member of, seems easier than just complaining about it
Have to say though that I’ll almost certainly never use it for any other reason.

To be honest I’m not really into social networking, though I can see how some people could find it useful.

Twitter is an entirely different story … I don’t get that at all

I have it, I don’t particular use it much but I do get email alerts when chosen friends comment on something. I have 188 friends on it and I know 95% of them personally. I have 3 old family friends who have moved to New Zealand and one bloke who works on a cruise liner, so his family are also friends in Norway.

Because I came from Yorkshire to Derbyshire I have 2 profiles with the same user name.

I have Twitter but rarely post, I just use it to read about whoever has their ■■■■ out this week.

Not on it, its not something that would interest me.
