Phil, are you saying that you would NEVER report some law breaker to the police, no matter how serious their crime was?
you assume wrong.
no tax has no bearing on your insurance. no mot, now that’s another matter.
limeyphil:
the police are a bunch of thugs, and tax collectors nowadays. why help them? do you get anything out of it?
Exactly this what do you get out of it ?
You have just grassed up Joe Bloggs down the road for not having tax on his car for 3 months. Right well done, how did it feel ? Did you get anything out of it ? Or does it still hurt to know that there’s thousands more of these untaxed cars on the roads ?
Like I said above everyone goes through hard times

really ? can u provide evidence of that please i would of thought car has no tax on road therefore insurance invalid
I would however report a guy who stabs another guy or a rapiest. There’s petty crimes and there’s serious crimes, no tax is a petty crime

just stab the ■■■■■■. simple.
Having no tax does not invalidate insurance. All insurance companies will try and go 50/50 because it makes their lives easier!!!
my local pub as a few seats outside the front, i was sat there one day when a guy parked on double yellows opposite the pub, now this is a bit of a prob with the locals, as it happens there was a pcso guy walking across from a car park some of the locals started calling him to deal with the car… when he did and the vehicles owner came back the same folk who reported the car started to insult the pcso■■?
same as when i used to work a control room, we had to deal with clamping vehicles, every shift you would get people phoning up asking for a car to be clamped because the owner had failed to get a permit or pay and display… i used to ask what concern it was of theirs with reply being “well I had to pay” yet the clampers were scum of the earth.
personally I have not had tax for my cars at times, and got away with it… if those who run the risk get away with it then good luck…
imho those that report these type of things are more jealous that someone else has managed to get away with it but dont have the balls to try themselves… everyone hates paying RFL so why donmt we all refuse to pay?

Lack Tax or MOT does not invalidate your insurance, despite what the insurers small print might say.

agreed… however some places where you park and have to have a permit or in some cases customers premises ect it may be in the contract or terms and conditions of the permit ect that your vehicle must be showing a valid tax disc, be insured mot,d and in certain cases in a safe condition… if it does not then the relevant company could get the vehicle removed…
I was involved in a case where a vehicle was removed, the owner took the company to court and i had to make a statement as i was on duty at te time. the owner lost.
‘Failure to exhibit valid VED disc’ is an offence in it’s own right, doesn’t matter if you paid your car tax or not, if the disc isn’t in the windscreen you can be stuck on for a £60 ticket!
Down my way DVLA have been out and about clamping untaxed vehicles, a couple of days later, a lorry comes round and lifts them. I believe the nearest pound to me is in Plymouth, so if they want their car back they have to get down to Plymouth, pay the lifting / storage fee, and pay the back tax (so will need proof of MoT and insurance) before they get their car back. Iyt’s not just beat up SORN’ed cars i’ve seen being lifted, seen a couple of high end motors.
So reporting untaxed cars does get results.
My car is at present sitting on my mam drive due to fact it has no tax ran out end of June & not had the money to tax it
I didnt run with no TAX as I know I will be caught simple as that yep it does have an MOT that runs out in Dec but have put on hold the insurance due to me not using it
I would simply unclamp the car if it was mine, it can be done quite easy if you have the know how. There are many videos on YouTube too on who’s done it
My only gripe with not paying roadtax is where I’m living we have 7 parking spots available off road and is council property! For months now there has been 2 taken up by untaxed motors and with all the restrictions on parking around here those spaces are needed all hours of the day and night! According to the local council no untaxed or Sorn vehicles are to park on their property! It seems they only remove cars if they feel like it! I’m gonna buy a trolley jack and start dragging these cars out onto the double yellow lines outside!

Have you SORNd it?
If not it must still be insured.

Yep it is SORND donn that then took over to my mam & put on her drive as I dont have 1 yet
If it wasnt I would be getting a letter from DVLA & they would poss be trying to fine me as ir would have no TAX & not SORND

Nice one Lots of people forget the SORN bit.
If it’s not SORN then it must be insured even if kept off road.
