To date Hollande has said that they gave Dave nothing, the polish prime minister has said they only gave him scraps to help him save his face back in the UK, and Merkel has told him that what little he has been given will likely be taken away by the European Parliament after we have had our referendum.
We are only going to get one chance to get rid of these parasites, let’s not waste it!
Dolph:
Talking about Churchill and the World wars lets not forget the Western betrayal against Czech and Polish nations.
BS.We were actually faced with the choice of WW3 with Russia which we would have lost or cut them loose.Just as we had to cut loose Istria in Italy.Which no surprise your lot seem to be happy enough to selectively over look.
BS or not in the history books stays Western betrayal.
The point I was making is: some of you complain how EE countries are backward in some way, well they were/are because western powers gave them to Stalin in Yalta.
Why is it any more supposed ‘betrayal’ of East Euro in the case of Poland etc than in the case of Italy ?.Yes great East Euro logic in action let’s lose the whole of western Europe and the survivors of the War against Hitler in a doomed attempt to stop the understandable paranoia of the Russians at that point. On that note if they didn’t want Russian rule then the time to fix that was in 1914.Although it’s anyone’s guess how they would have sorted out a slavic position in which the Bulgarians went for independence from the Ottoman Empire and got it.But the Bulgarians then supported Austria against Serbian Nationalism and the Polish having fought on both sides at the same time.

The really important and scary bit is the statement that the decision will make our membership of the Union binding with no further right of UK secession.

Because Poland didn’t declare war to the West as Italy did.
We got our independence thanks to Russia, against British will, who openly supported the ottomans(money, weapons, influence), but you seems to mix dates/years. Bulgaria was stabbed twice by Serbia 1885 and 1913, so 1914 alliance was more the understandable.
Are we going back to the original thread title CF?
In 2015, United Kingdom incurred the highest trade deficits with the following countries:
Germany: -US$46.1 billion (country-specific trade surplus in 2015)
China: -$33.9 billion
Netherlands: -$20.3 billion
Norway: -$14.1 billion
Belgium: -$13.5 billion
Italy: -$11.2 billion
France: -$9.1 billion
Spain: -$8.2 billion
Canada: -$7.2 billion
Poland: -$6.9 billion
Among United Kingdom’s import partners that cause the greatest positive trade balances, UK deficits with France (up 406.6%), Spain (up 137.4%) and Belgium (up 118%) grew at the fastest pace from 2011 to 2015.
In 2015, United Kingdom incurred the highest trade surpluses with the following countries:
Switzerland: US$22.5 billion (country-specific trade deficit in 2015)
United States: $9.1 billion
United Arab Emirates: $8.8 billion
Hong Kong: $6.7 billion
Ireland: $6.4 billion
Saudi Arabia: $4.3 billion
Singapore: $4 billion
Australia: $2.6 billion
Azerbaijan: $865.2 million
Macedonia: $762.5 million
of course trade positions dont tell the whole story ( nederlands figure is distorted by rotterdam effect for example ) , but they do give a strong indication of health of relationship , and a surpkus does not have to be financed in foreign exchange trading
also , only 1 of the surplus countries enjoys freedom of movement by their citizens ! who would have thought it

Dolph won’t let inconvenient facts like trade figures stand in the way of the EU being on the winning side of a trade war with us.If/when we tell Merkel that we will no longer recognise EU free movement laws or anything within the treaties of Rome/Maastricht/Lisbon as of midnight 24/6/2016.
On that note I think we can now safely answer Jim Callaghan’s statement of 1974 that ‘we don’t know enough yet’ to ‘reach any conclusions’ as to our trade deficit situation with the EU.
Check out Shore’s statement in this exchange. The government having been caught out trying to use dodgy watered down trade figures probably/definitely on Europhile Wilson’s orders.
‘‘The onus of analysis and explanation certainly lies upon the advocates of membership rather than those of us who have persistently warned against the dangers to this country’s economy that could follow from our own membership of the Community’’.Obviously meant as a veiled pointer towards and a dig at his zbwit leader.
How much of this Swiss trade is banking an financial sector? The Americans said, they are not interested in trade agreement with UK out of EU.
Interesting read if you have time.
If Britain withdrew from full membership of the EU,there would be a number of potential options for managing its trading relationships: membership of the European Economic Area (the Norway option); a customs union, similar to the one the EU has with Turkey; a basket of bilateral agreements such as that which exists between Switzerland and the EU; a socalled ‘vanilla’ free trade agreement such as the ones the EU has with countries ranging from South Korea to South Africa; and finally trade with the EU under World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules.
None of these options would be straightforward EEA membership:
If Britain joined the European Economic Area (EEA), British firms would have unimpeded access to the single market and would continue to benefit from the EU’s trade deals with other countries. But Britain would have no say over EU trade policy, and in order to qualify for EEA membership, the UK would still have to abide by EU regulations while enjoying very little input into the drafting of those regulations. EEA member-states largely experience ‘regulation without representation’. And if an EEA member fails to implement a regulation, the EU can suspend its membership.
Trade under WTO rules: Finally, if the UK balked at the requirements of a free trade area, it could opt to trade with the EU under WTO rules. The UK would not have to comply with EU regulations, but it would face the EU’s Common External Tariff (CET) and substantial NTBs to trade. For example, food imports are subject to an average EU tariff of 15 per cent, while car imports face a 10 per cent tariff, and car components, 5 per cent. Under this scenario, UK manufactured exports could be hit hard. For example, the EU is easily the biggest market
for British car-makers, and the country’s car components industry is fully integrated into pan-EU supply chains. Indeed, a much higher proportion of UK exports to the rest of the EU take the form of intermediate goods than is the case for Britain’s exports to the rest of the world. These would be much less cost-competitive within Europe if they faced tariffs. UK goods exports to the EU would also be vulnerable to anti-dumping duties.

Dolph which part of leaving the EU allows ‘us’ to impose massive tarrifs against the onslaught of EU imports and resulting ‘trade deficit’ which is crippling our economy, don’t you understand.
IE we can actually afford to lose most/all of our export trade with the EU,in exchange for protecting the much more valuable to us domestic market, against the much higher level of EU imports.Which has always been the case since we joined the scam 1973.On that note if the in campaign really must continue to rely on belligerent talk of trade sanctions against us for leaving then at least try to understand the EU’s position of massive trade surplus weakness in that regard.
Taxpayer-funded civil servants have been authorised by David Cameron to use public resources to campaign for Remain. Advisers and officials working for ministers who back Leave have been issued a strict ban on their activities by the Cabinet Secretary Jeremy Heywood.
Civil servants working in the departments of the defectors have been barred from giving their ministers briefings supporting their position on the EU. They are banned from providing speech material, and will be denied access to government papers relating to the referendum. Special advisers working for Leave ministers are banned from supporting their boss’ position in office hours. They are also banned from using annual leave on campaign activity. Pro-Remain ministers are meanwhile allowed to use public resources to campaign.
Heywood has even written that these restrictions mean “The principles of impartiality and the proper use of public resources continue to apply to all government communications activity, including activity related to the EU referendum.”
Downing Street civil servants have been authorised to use taxpayer-funded resources to campaign for Remain, yet civil servants and Spads for Eurosceptic ministers who want to do the same thing for the Leave campaign are banned from doing so. This is using government muscle to squash the opposition in a supposedly fair and free referendum. Article 3 First Protocol of the Human Rights Act gives a right to free and fair elections, although that doesn’t really mean much where the EU is concerned.
The upcoming treaty of association between the EU and Ukraine has to be ratified by all 28 members. Only the fact that GeenPeil, a Dutch political website, gathered enough signatures to initiate a referendum effectively stopped the Netherlands from ratifying the treaty. The referendum is due on the 6th April 2016 with polls showing 75% voting NO. The EU’s answer to this legal referendum complying with EU rules . . . is to completely ignore it and press on with Ukraines application.

The Establishment at its finest!
I could just imagine myself going to fight for Putin on the basis of the lesser of two evils if/when the EU end up in a fight with Russia over Ukraine.I always had an interest in artillery.
Seriously it seems like the question of EU ‘membership’ ( takeover ) of the country has probably gone past the possibility of being settled democratically. In which case it’s anyone’s guess where it’s all headed but history suggests it will end in tears.
The UNHCR has revealed some startling statistics. In the first two months of this year 110,257 migrants entered the EU by sea via Greece and Italy, that’s a ten fold increase since the same time last year. If this trend continues that would mean approx 1.5M migrants by June’s referendum.
The EU is as democratic as China . but at least chinese have got a booming economy .
The poor old Dutch have a democracy problem , like England , but theirs due to perpetual coalition goverment .
Wouldnt be surprised if after Brexit the dutch dont demand the same . they have got a reputation as liberal pro europe , but its far from the truth , and only said by those that dont understand holland .
And why are UK government supporting this ukraine nonsense ? The idea of them joining only strengthens OUT . probably they are just trying to kerp it secret til july .
As for Ukraine , our only hope is russia pulls its finger out and occupies the whole damned country sharpish .
Surely the EU leaders can see that having Ukraine just increases anger at whole project …
And makes war with russia ever more likely .
Also the EU are presently signing treaty with Turkey in exchange for them keeping out the syrians . it will allow Turks visa free travel across EU . nightmare

Let me guess well fed young blokes of fighting age and a ready made addition to Merkel’s EU foreign legion.Ready to add to her demographic takeover of North West Europe and take on any secessionist movement in those states.

None of it seems to make any sense. Of which there could be numerous theories to explain what’s going on none of them with a happy ending for us.At least unless we have the sense to get out now and arm ourselves to the teeth including hopefully removing US control over our nuclear deterrent.
It’ll be interesting to see the Russian reaction to any potential EU move into Ukraine.Hopefully they’ll take your advice at least by splitting the place into East and West.In addition to the ongoing flash point between Turkey and Russia.
The Bulgarian parliament extended on Thursday the powers of the army, allowing it to guard the state borders.
The amendment to the Defence and Armed Forces Act was unanimously approved at second reading with 137 MPs voting in favour, daily Dnevnik informs.
Until now, the armed forces could only provide assistance, such as logistics, to the officials of the interior ministry.
Now the army has the power to guard the border on an equal footing with border policemen.
Also as part of Frontex operation BG border police is patrolling the waters of Greek island Lesbos.
NATO is expected to tighten its control in the Mediterranean as of today.
What should concern anyone on here is that, should we vote to leave the EU, The UK would probably be unable to use the EU Regs on Drivers Hours anymore. You have to ask yourself, if this happened, do I trust the current crop of Politicians to be able to sort out a new set of rules so that are at least similar, if not, better, than the ones that we have under the EU at present?
It’d be interesting to hear what others on here think about this as It could seriously affect us all.
Like a lot of people, I’m not sure where I stand on the issue at the moment but it’s gonna be things like this that might make people vote one way or the other.
