Being as I am an old gadger, I can remember when the limit for HGV’s was 40mph on dual carriageways it was then raised by the government to 50mph without a petition by anyone

I don’t think raising the HGV limit on S\Cs is such a clear cut common sense move, in comparison. I also think modern day attitudes towards speed and trucks are very prohibitive to any action ever being taken.
To be totally blunt, if there are drivers out there that bothered about wanting the limit raised so they can go faster and ‘save lives’ by reducing the number of dodgy overtakes, your going to have to do a lot better than sitting at home/in your truck and setting up an e-petition. Rally the troops, get out there armed with some hard evidence backing your argument and make something happen. Good luck to you, especially with the rallying the troops part.

Managed 6/10 in total. Having another Tesco day today and I’m on 3/4 already.

In a LGV over 7.5 on a SC … no, well, that is not to say never a little and then realise and rectify it
Been over in a 7.5 a few times in the 80s and got nabbed for it and went to court to plead for licence though !

Well I was seen doing 40 on the tracker on my way back after my last load, got asked to backload some muck. Fair enough but then I find on site it’s been arranged for me to do “1 or 2” hours daywork there too. Consequently I’m late home.
Still can’t be persuaded to have a sleeper cab though.

let’s get it sped up! tacho laws 10 hours duty, 6 hours driving time in two three hour slots and a two hour liquid lunch at beconsfield! an hour for cups of tea ( cough cough VOSA other work checking your load, paperwork or whatever ) and an hour to tip ( countrywide tossco, asda or any self tipping kraut place ) wages £1500 take home after tax for a twenty four hour, four day week! SIGNED

Well three of us running on a job together today, down for 6 managed 5 at the correct speed limits. Still back after 5pm and had no more than 45 mins break either. So for sticking to the limits this week I’ve “dropped” 6 loads in 3 days.
