Sorry mate , but not everyone is getting through the hard times as well as you… and there are a lot who are teetering on the edge or who have lost almost everything
This driver obviously has hit the bottom but is not asking for handouts, just if anyone knows of a job that can help her get herself out of the situation.
We all made mistakes during the good times and are paying the price for it now…
I bought a year old car, didnt like it and after 6 months took the hit on the finance and traded it for one I did like, consequently paying a lot more for a car I like than it will ever be worth… but times were good. we all got pay rises and no-one saw the implosion of the financial markets. Now I still have that car which I massively overpaid for and still paying off that debt.
Carryfast:
So you’re saying that the job has never been good enough to base a mortgage on for anyone
.
Yep, 25 years is the average amount of time to pay off a mortgage, more hauliers are going to the wall each year in the last few years than ever before, gotta have a few screws loose to think its a good idea to take out a mortgage if your only income is from a driving job.

Why aint she asking the goverment for help then■■?
You have people coming from Poland etc with sod all cash but manage to find a job and somewhere to live yet there are born and bred UK citizens that are unable to do that
Why aint she asking the goverment for help then■■?
And what are they going to do?

Job seekers allowance
Housing benefit and bond for a place to live
One problem, she will have to give up her pride
Anyway I bet there are plenty of lorry drivers on this forum who live in east London with some space in there abode to take in homeless lady trucker…
They wont pay the bond thats down to you…
Many landlords wont take Housing benefit because it takes ages to come through… and they can earn more from the private sector…
Many of those that do expect the tenant to pay the rent until the HB finally turns up.
The welfare system sounds great but the real life practice is it doesnt work as intended
And you still havent said whats wrong with trying to fight your own way out, by asking on here if anyone knows where they can get a job to get them out of the situation, and what is so wrong to do so?
All the vitriol on here is quite shocking.
There’s a fellow driver in trouble.
Probably without internet access. Possibly without money to pay her mobile phone bill.
Between us, we have the resources to help her find a job.
Would there be all this sniping, if it was a bloke looking for a job?
I very much doubt it. Usually it would be “try here, try X. Y just landed a new contract, so may be looking for drivers”.
It is very easy in this current climate to go from keeping one’s head above water, to sinking.
We’ve been asked to throw her a lifebelt.
Please just scour the internet and put some real leads for London jobs (she may not have money to put fuel in the car) that can be passed to her.
I hate to think what the original poster is going to think when he sees all the negative posts. It hardly shows the Transport community in a favourable light…

Landlords prefer HB, not much chance of the tenant going into arrears as the goverment pay it straight to them, and also they can charge extra as the goverment will pay whatever with no questions asked.

Disturbing is more the word that comes to my mind
and also they can charge extra as the goverment will pay whatever with no questions asked.
Just out of interest do you also still believe in the tooth fairy and Easter bunny
and yes I do know, One of my mates has a new build developement of 14 town houses he rents, another works for one of the biggest private landlords in the UK
I guarentee when I tell them people actually believe this they will either fall over laughing or disown me as a friend

Some of the dreamers should spend some time living in the South East to understand what the real world is all about.

At least 100 families receiving housing benefit are living in luxury homes on handouts that could fund £1m mortgages, figures have revealed.
More than 30 of those families are being given a staggering £1,500 a week to live ‘swanky’ lifestyles - more than three times the national average wage.
Of the 100 families, 60 have their rent paid by the state to the value of £5,000 a month, according to the Department for Work and Pensions.

I am pretty sure that even the slight possibilty that some one e-mails Colin with a possibility to help that is a ■■■■ sight more than she had if this thread hadnt been created…
Do me a favour and Google Local Housing Allowance, and would you rent me your house for that money, payable fortnightly?

Those are ALL situations where the council have a legal obligation to house the family due to children or ill/Elderly, and dont have suitable housing stock to put them in, so have to pay the market rates, the councils dont have a choice as by law they cannot deliberatly house into overcrowded accomodation
hardly relevant when they dont have any obligation to house a healthy adult

Max round here they pay £100 pw for a two bedroom terrace which would give me just enough after my mortgage payments for a packet of ■■■■ and a pint… hardly a great yeild on investment
getting contractors in on short term lets pays £300+ per week but not guarenteed
As I said I know the local landlords very well and they dont housing benefit as the return simply isnt there + the tenants tend to trash the place
Busby is only 28
Just wait till he gets a few more years under his belt, and believes all the BS that he is told and reads
Another whipper snapper who dont know jack ■■■■ about REAL LIFE
Still to answer the question Rikki is asking Him
Busby, to me you are a waste of space and I so hope that YOU are subject to the very same that the Woman in the OP has been subject to by arrogant toasters like you who THINK you know it ALL, but knows Jack ■■■■

So you’ve not heard of the ideas taking place in Croydon where the council are planning on shipping out loads of it’s own tenants to places up North because the council can’t afford, and isn’t prepared to pay,the local going rent rates that landlords can get in the private sector. In most cases the government housing benefit won’t cover council or private rent costs.Which leaves tenants with the choices of eat or heat or give the keys back sometimes without even the choice between eat or heat.
Immigration being one of the main causes of the problem.
